"Hehe, indeed. With Charlie backing her up, she really thinks she's the top lady in Liverton, looking down on everyone else. Little does she know, she's just a poor, lowly woman!"
Now that Vivian had Quentin's support, she started to disdain Nancy again.
Moreover, she and Taylor, being birds of a feather with a common enemy in Nancy, found their conversation even more enjoyable.
Taylor covered her mouth and laughed mockingly, "What's Charlie, anyway? There are plenty of men in Liverton wealthier and more influential than him. Does Nancy really think that by clinging to him, she can do whatever she wants?"
As she spoke, she suddenly turned to Vivian, "Vivian, what about Alexander? Didn't he go with you to RYELAND? Why hasn't he returned yet?"
A flash of embarrassment crossed Vivian's face. Although she was Alexander Caine's wife, he didn't share anything with her, and she didn't even know where he was.
She laughed it off, "He's still busy in RYELAND. It might take a while before he returns."
Just then, the yard gate was pushed open, and Alexander walked in, dragging his suitcase. Seeing Taylor, he politely nodded at her as a greeting, then turned his attention to Vivian.
It seemed he had something to tell Vivian, but with Taylor there, he pressed his lips together and carried his suitcase inside.
Taylor, a pampered young lady raised in the lap of luxury by the Lesser family, wasn't very old and had limited exposure to society beyond the Grand Era Group. Everyone in the company indulged her, leading her to speak without considering the context or saving face for others.
Before Alexander could even enter the house, she asked Vivian in confusion, "Vivian, didn't you just say he was busy in RYELAND and wouldn't be back for a while? Why is he here now?"
Vivian's face reddened with embarrassment. She glared at Alexander and chuckled awkwardly, "His sudden return is probably meant to be a surprise for me."
"Is that so..."
Taylor turned to look at Alexander's retreating back, her lips curling, "That doesn't seem right to me. He didn't say a word to you after coming back and just went straight inside..."
Vivian, "..."
You wretched woman!
Can't you stay quiet?
Damn it, she's already embarrassingly awkward, and you keep babbling. So you're the only one with a mouth, huh!
Alexander, about to enter the room, halted abruptly upon hearing Taylor's words. This time, without any hesitation, he set down his suitcase and turned back to face Vivian and Taylor.
Looking down, he saw Vivian's face, already brimming with embarrassment, and sighed softly, "Vivian, we don't need to pretend to be a loving couple anymore. I mentioned divorce back in Taurus, and you've had plenty of time to think. When shall we proceed with the divorce formalities?"
"Ah!"
Taylor exclaimed, covering her mouth in shock and casting an embarrassed glance at Vivian.
Vivian, no longer in the mood to deal with her, was fed up with Alexander. When he first mentioned divorce, it was in private. Now, he was bringing it up in front of Taylor, how could she save face?
In front of Taylor, if she said she didn't want a divorce, wouldn't she come off as a desperate woman?
"Fine!"
She lifted her head, looking at Alexander, and said word by word, "You want a divorce, I'll grant it. Let's go and get divorced right now!"
