Chapter 544: From Today Onwards, I'll Keep My Mouth Shut

Alexander, satisfied, curved the corner of his lips, turned around to open his suitcase, and then took out all the necessary documents. Vivian, witnessing his eagerness, stormed into the house to grab her documents and came out.

Both left the Lesser family's mansion, one angry and the other happy.

Taylor, watching their backs, belatedly realized that she might have inadvertently facilitated their divorce.

This...

She panicked and immediately ran towards her own home.

Inside the house, Eva Luther, watching Quentin leisurely sipping coffee on the sofa, trembled with anger.

"Quentin! The issue initially was with Taylor's mistake. A simple apology would have resolved everything. Why did you have to escalate the situation so much?"

A week ago, Eva's mother passed away, and she had to return home to handle her mother's funeral.

Quentin, holding a grudge because Eva's mother once mistakenly called him by Edward Firth, had never visited Eva's family again and even forbade Eva from bringing their daughters home.

Even when Eva's mother died, he didn't attend the funeral nor allowed his daughters to visit. Eva left heartbroken and returned even more so after the funeral. But learning about Taylor's incident in Liverton added disappointment to her sorrow.

Quentin, sipping his coffee, looked at her with a half-smile, "Eva, are you angry because Taylor is arrogant, or are you angry because the other party is Charlie?"

Faced with his mockery, Eva's breath hitched, and her hands clenched at her sides, "I've told you about Taylor's temperament before. It's not good for a girl to be too domineering. You not only ignore this but also indulge her. If she continues this behavior after getting married, how will she cope in her in-laws' house?"

Quentin's expression darkened, and he heavily set the coffee cup on the table, "A girl should have a lady's temperament. My daughter, raised in Quentin's palms, why should she suffer in someone else's house? Eva, don't criticize your own daughter here just because of Charlie!"

"I..."

Eva wasn't implying Taylor was bad; she meant Taylor's character needed refinement, and facing some hardships could temper her personality.

Feeling dejected, Eva closed her eyes, her aura diminishing, and her voice weakened, "Quentin, I'm just discussing the matter with you. I'm not comparing Taylor with Charlie."

"Enough!"

Quentin slammed his hand on the side table, his face so dark it seemed to drip water, "Eva, Taylor is my daughter. I won't allow her to face the slightest grievance. Don't you ever bring up Charlie in front of me again!"

Eva slowly opened her eyes, "If I don't mention Charlie, does that mean he doesn't exist?"

Quentin grabbed the coffee cup beside him and hurled it at Eva's feet with force. With a "bang," Eva's heart shattered along with it.

"Eva, you're always nitpicking! If you have so much to say, why don't you take over Grand Era Group? From now on, you handle everything about Taylor; I won't interfere, okay?"

Eva looked at him, her expression numb as she curled the corner of her lips, "Heh...fine, from today onwards, I'll keep my mouth shut."
