"Ah?"
Micheal laughed off the remark, "Is that so?"
Nancy gave a forced smile and ignored him, calling Henry to sit down with her, Linda, and Mr. Smith at a nearby table and chairs.
While Jilian and Damian were choosing a house, they could only wait here. Nancy was prepared to lend them money if they were short.
As soon as everyone sat down, Micheal dragged a chair over and stuck around like glue. He even made himself at home, pouring himself a cup of tea from their teapot without asking if Nancy and the others minded.
Linda wanted to chat with her uncle and Nancy, but with him there, she hesitated and instead gave Micheal a meaningful look, breaking into a smile.
"Mr. Thompson, we're not that familiar with you, are we?"
Micheal seemed oblivious to Linda's resistance, smiling nonchalantly, "Miss Smith, how can you say that? First time is a meeting, the second is familiarity. This is our second encounter, so we're practically acquaintances now."
Linda rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed, "You really do have thick skin."
This was quite a blunt remark, but Micheal remained cheerful, "If you're not thick-skinned, you won't get far. Besides, I've just returned to Liverton and don't have many friends here. It's an honor to know you all."
Linda decided to ignore him and engaged in conversation with Nancy, Mr. Smith, and Henry.
"Ha, Uncle, let me tell you, Nan is quite something. She had a promising path in music but chose IT instead. Now she's a tech director and so busy I have to schedule time to hang out with her."
Mr. Smith laughed heartily, admiringly looking at Nancy, "Mrs. Firth is indeed remarkable. It seems she can handle anything, nothing can stump her. I'm quite envious of Young Master Firth. To have a wife like Mrs. Firth, successful in both career and love, he's truly fortunate."
"Exactly."
Linda nodded vigorously, her smile bright, "Mr. Firth once said that meeting Nan was the luckiest thing in his life. I just regret not meeting Nan earlier, or I would have introduced her to my cousin, and the Smith family would be even stronger."
Mr. Smith waved his hand dismissively, "My son isn't worthy of Mrs. Firth. In this world, only Young Master Firth, a true paragon, is her match."
As Nancy listened to the uncle and niece, her eyes nearly rolled to the back of her head, "Alright, enough with the flattery. I know Mr. Smith is offering a discount for my brothers to buy the house, there must be something you need me to do. With my relationship with Linda, just be direct, no need for all this roundabout praise."
She raised her hand to her forehead, feigning dizziness, "All this flattery is making me lightheaded."
Linda and Mr. Smith burst into laughter, the group enjoying their conversation.
Henry sat quietly, the epitome of a handsome, silent type, always with a smile on his lips. His gaze occasionally shifted from Nancy to Linda, amazed to find such a harmonious pair.
Together, Nancy and Linda were like a slice of joyous paradise, relaxing the soul and bringing pleasure to any man around them...
