Chapter 566: Do You Think I Can't Afford to Give Away a Penthouse?

Micheal looked at Mr. Smith in shock, unable to utter a single word for a moment.

He had always heard from the elders in his family that the knots were the heirlooms of the Thompson family, each representing a kind of emotional sustenance. These knots had once saved the Thompson family from dire straits.

He had never believed it. How could a few strands of rope woven together possess any magic to save a family from crisis?

But now, seeing Mr. Smith's excited expression, he began to understand.

It turns out that a knot filled with emotion is something precious and hard to come by for some people. It can bring people closer together and bear witness to genuine affection.

It seemed his grandfather was right; knots do have souls and spirits.

Nancy, slightly embarrassed by Mr. Smith's actions, nodded quickly and then withdrew her hand, "Mr. Smith, don't worry. I'll start weaving it when I get home today and will have someone deliver it to you tomorrow."

Mr. Smith clasped his hands together, nodding vigorously with gratitude, "Thank you, thank you so much."

At this point, Mr. Smith suddenly had an idea, raising his hand to beckon his assistant over.

The assistant quickly approached, respectfully saying, "Mr. Smith."

Mr. Smith, with a hearty smile, asked, "The penthouse I asked you to hold onto, it hasn't been sold, right?"

The assistant nodded lightly, "Yes, Mr. Smith, the penthouse is still available."

"Good."

Mr. Smith's smile faded, and he became serious, "Now, go and process the transfer of that penthouse to Mrs. Firth."

"What!?"

"What!?"

"What!?"

"What!?"

"What!?"

Not only Micheal, but Linda, Nancy, Henry, and even Mr. Smith's assistant were all shocked.

Mr. Smith, seeing their wide-eyed expressions, raised his eyebrows smugly, "What? You think I can't afford to give away a penthouse?"

"Ah, no, not at all."

Nancy waved her hands frantically, "Mr. Smith, oh, I mean, I should call you Mr. Smith. I was already grateful when you offered a discount for my brothers' houses, how could I accept your penthouse?"

"Hey!"

Mr. Smith, carefree, laughed, "I have plenty of everything, except for houses, I have many. I was going to give this penthouse to my unworthy son, but today, I felt an instant connection with Mrs. Firth. Plus, you're a good friend of Linda's, and you even called me Mr. Smith. Besides, you're giving me a lover's knot made of jade and pearl beads. Just these reasons alone make me feel like giving you the penthouse is a bargain for me."

Nancy couldn't help but laugh, "Then you should keep the penthouse for your son..."

"Why keep it for him?"

Mr. Smith snorted disapprovingly, "Today, seeing you and Linda, I've come to realize something. Children and grandchildren have their own fortunes. If my son wants a wealthy life, he should earn it with his own hands. Look at you two young ladies, making your own way. Why should my son live off his parents?"

Nancy, "..."

Linda, "..."

Somehow, that made perfect sense!

But Nancy still felt embarrassed, "How about... Mr. Smith, I buy it from you at a discount?"

"How could that be?"

Mr. Smith frowned, his expression turning stern, "Are you looking down on me?"

"Ah? No, I..."

Nancy was at a loss for words, feeling extremely embarrassed.

"Come on, Nan, just accept it when my uncle is giving it to you!" Linda wasn't embarrassed at all, holding Nancy's hand with a grin, "I'll be relying on you in the future. I have nothing myself, so if my uncle gives you a little favor, you'll take extra care of me, right? Hahaha..."
