Henry, fuming with anger, raised his fist, ready to strike again, causing Micheal, terrified, to quickly raise his hands to cover his face.
"Don't you have any martial ethics left? It's said that one should not strike the face when hitting someone, yet you specifically target mine!" Micheal lamented, "My handsome and dashing face is now swollen, not to mention bearing a shoe print. I really don't understand, where did I offend you to deserve such a beating upon our meeting!?"
"Where did you provoke us, offend us?"
Charlie, with a kick, flipped a nearby chair, his chilling aura bursting forth in an instant, "You wanted that book, Nan didn't give it to you, so you orchestrated today's car accident, hoping to kill us all in the crash and then take the opportunity to steal the book!"
"What?"
Micheal was taken aback, instinctively turning to look at Nancy, "You had a car accident?"
Nancy nodded, took a few steps toward him, also wary of Charlie and Henry's temper, hence she explained this morning's events to Micheal.
After hearing the details, Micheal, momentarily forgetting his pain and not even bothering to wipe the blood trickling from his nose, stood up and rushed toward Nancy.
Henry and Charlie, thinking he might attack Nancy, were quick to intervene.
Just then, Nancy raised her hand, stopping them, and looked at Micheal with a smile.
Micheal, reaching her in a few steps, grabbed Nancy's arms, examining her thoroughly, his concern evident as he urgently asked, "Are you hurt anywhere? Does it hurt? Should I take you to the hospital right now?"
His concern and worry were visibly genuine, as they say, the eyes are the windows to the soul, and through his gaze, Nancy could see his sincerity, not a facade.
"Heh..."
Nancy, smiling, raised her hands, "It's okay, fortunately, Tom reacted quickly, and we managed to escape the calamity, just a bit shocked, nothing else."
"That's good... that's good..."
Micheal let out a long sigh of relief, then frustratedly exclaimed, "So, you think I orchestrated this accident?"
Charlie, with a proud lift of his eyebrow, challenged, "Who else but you would have the motive to strike us with such lethal intent!?"
"It wasn't me! Really, it wasn't me!"
Micheal, releasing Nancy, walked over to a nearby sofa, bent down to grab a box of tissues, and began to wipe the blood from his nose.
"Let me tell you the truth, that book is indeed very important to my family, the Thompson family, but we are not unreasonable. My grandfather said that the book should stay with Nancy for now. We won't forcibly take it, and we even plan to befriend Nancy!"
Suddenly recalling something, Micheal stood up, holding the tissue box, walked over to his luggage, rummaged through it, and pulled out something resembling a jade pendant.
"Here, this is from my grandfather for you."
Nancy, surprised, blinked at the jade pendant Micheal handed over, "For me? Why?"
"What else?"
Micheal, in a huff, snorted, "Grandfather said since the book is with you, we can't take it by force. But we hope you won't show the book to others or teach them the knotting techniques described within. This jade pendant is a token of our gratitude, and he hopes to personally visit you someday."
