Andrew was visibly irritated, "I won't go. I brought her here, you drove her away, and now you want me to beg her again?"
His words were a direct jab at Eva, who had been criticizing Nancy all along.
Eva's face darkened, "Big brother, you raised Nancy. What can't you say to her? This matter can only be resolved with your intervention."
"Hmph..."
Andrew sneered, "What did you say when Nan offered to help us? Eva, your one word outweighs my ten. You're so capable, you should be the one to go."
"I..."
Eva's face turned beet red, never expecting Nancy could actually perform the surgery.
Andrew glanced at her disdainfully, his tone more sarcastic, "You were the one who told her to leave. Now you should be the one to bring her back. Should I take the blame for you?"
"Enough!"
Old Mrs. Lesser was almost frantic, their bickering worsening her agitation, "Stop arguing! Your father is still in there. If we don't get Nan back soon, we'll be planning a funeral instead!"
Andrew gave Eva a cold look and stood aside in silence.
Eva was extremely distressed. Asking her to bring Nancy back would be a slap to her own face.
But it seemed Andrew was adamant not to go, leaving no one but her...
"Fine, I'll go. Big brother, call Nancy and ask her to wait at the hospital."
...
Stepping out of the hospital, Nancy took a deep breath of fresh air, sighing heavily.
She couldn't help after all with Old Master Lesser's situation.
Recalling Eva's words, she chuckled sardonically. Charlie had already opened the car door for her, and she nonchalantly got in.
"Sis, your phone is ringing."
Nancy wasn't even settled when her phone buzzed in her bag. Hearing Henry's reminder, she calmly retrieved it.
Seeing the caller ID, she impassively ended the call and put the phone back.
"Huh? Why is Andrew calling?"
Nancy shrugged, "Don't know. Maybe he feels bad about Eva's attitude and Old Mrs. Lesser's behavior. Master might be calling to console me."
"Why didn't you answer, then?" Charlie raised an eyebrow, smiling.
Nancy's pretty face scowled, "I don't want to! Why should they only reach out when they need something but ignore me otherwise?"
She was angry, but Charlie seemed quite pleased.
He had always been somewhat envious of Nancy's relationship with Andrew. It wasn't jealousy but the complexity of his ties with the Lesser family. If not for Nancy, his relationship with them would be nothing but enmity.
Now, the Lessers had disappointed Nancy, especially Andrew, who hadn't stood up for her. If Nancy decided to ignore Andrew forever, that would be ideal for Charlie.
That way, he would be the only one she cherished.
Meanwhile, Andrew, seeing his call rejected, smirked cynically, "Not even taking my call, she must be really upset this time."
