Henry shook his head, "I don't know. To tell the truth, sis, ever since dad woke up from his vegetative state, I feel like I can't understand him anymore. He seems to have changed a lot from before."
Charlie's fingers gently stroked his own chin. He was always strategic and calculating, but even he was finding Andrew Lesser hard to read.
Having interacted with Andrew for so long, he could tell Andrew was a cultured and amiable person, not to mention intelligent. A person like him, logically, wouldn't remarry Lily.
Unless...
Unless Lily had something that even Andrew feared, something she could use to threaten Andrew, forcing him to remarry her.
But earlier, at the Lesser family's place, it was clear that Lily was the one wary of Andrew. A single look from him could silence her, even make her shrink back in fear. Given Lily's personality, if she had the power to threaten Andrew, she would be flaunting it, not acting this way.
So, if she wasn't threatening him, why would Andrew marry Lily?
Suddenly, a thought struck him. Perhaps Lily did have something over Andrew, something that was also a significant risk for Lily herself. Andrew wouldn't want others to get their hands on it, so he had to keep Lily close.
This would turn their relationship into a partnership: Andrew would protect Lily, and Lily would have to obey Andrew in everything!
"Heh..."
With this thought, a low chuckle escaped Charlie. The image of Andrew in his mind underwent a drastic change.
It seemed Andrew wasn't as harmless as he appeared on the surface.
"Honey." Nancy heard Charlie's laughter and looked at him through the rearview mirror, "What are you laughing about?"
"Nothing."
Charlie pointed towards the windshield, "Nan, don't get distracted. Focus on driving."
"Oh, okay."
Nancy immediately shifted her attention back to the road, driving with focus.
Charlie chose not to share his thoughts with Nancy because he wasn't yet sure about them. And even if he did, Nancy and Henry might not believe him. So, let time reveal the truth!
...
In City Nustin, inside what used to be Samuel's villa, Micheal Thompson kicked a chair in front of him.
"Damn it, you couldn't even keep an eye on one woman, and now she's run off! Now she's headed to Liverton. What if she seeks refuge with Andrew? How will I catch her!?"
Tina bowed her head, not daring to make a sound.
She was sent by Arthur Thompson to assist Micheal in Henriana, as a way to make amends for past failures. But she never expected this mission to fail too.
Micheal had aggressively bought shares in Samuel's company, even stirring up trouble between Samuel and Daniel Mirren to acquire all of Daniel's shares, swiftly changing the company's ownership in such a short time.
Micheal's careful planning was perfect, pushing Lily to a dead end. All he needed was for Lily to lose Samuel's protection, and he could easily capture her.
However, Tina, who was supposed to be watching Lily, didn't even realize when Lily had left City Nustin. Micheal's efforts were in vain, and the mission was a complete failure.
Seeing her silence, Micheal was nearly exploding with anger, "Tina, you know how Grandpa is, he's impatient. Now we haven't gotten any reliable information from Lily. How am I supposed to explain this to Grandpa?"
