Nancy knew what he wanted to ask, but she pretended not to understand, responding nonchalantly, “The difference is quite big. He was very close to Henry and me before, but now he seems a bit distant.”
Micheal touched his chin and nodded thoughtfully, “I see, it seems he really has lost his memory.”
Nancy said nothing more, calling him, Charlie, and Henry to head toward the banquet hall together.
Although they were not part of the Lesser family, Old Mrs. Lesser arranged for them to sit next to the main table, indicating their status had surpassed that of the Lesser family’s collateral branches.
Nancy sat between Henry and Charlie, with Micheal next to Henry. To avoid Micheal overhearing, Nancy deliberately waved at Henry.
Henry immediately understood and leaned in closer to her.
“Henry, do you think Dad has really lost his memory?”
Henry nodded, “It seems real. Otherwise, with how much he used to spoil you, he would never have let you eat the peanut-flavored cake. Moreover, he urged you later, clearly not knowing you’re allergic to peanuts.”
“Hmm.”
Nancy finally felt relieved. Earlier, she had mixed feelings, both hoping and not hoping that Andrew would take the peanut-flavored cake. However, after he chose the matcha-flavored cake, his tone and attitude toward Nancy made her feel at ease.
The outcome was just what she wanted to see!
After talking with Henry, she turned to whisper to Charlie.
“Honey, Henry and I both think Dad’s memory loss isn’t an act; he truly has lost his memory.”
Charlie gave her a deep look and chuckled, nodding, “Hmm, you win. It seems we need to reassess this situation.”
Nancy proudly raised her chin, “Of course. I have a lot of faith in my dad. He can deceive the whole world, but he would never lie to me.”
The expression on her face at that moment made Charlie feel quite uncomfortable.
He couldn’t understand why, despite Andrew being Nancy’s adoptive father, he always felt a pang of jealousy when he saw Nancy defending Andrew, even to the point of doubting his own judgment. It was inexplicable and frustrating.
“The wedding is starting.”
Seeing the host take the stage, Nancy immediately sat up straight, smiling at the platform.
Andrew’s wedding was extremely simple, even the ceremony was minimal. For the Lesser family, such a disgraceful wedding was already a concession. They couldn’t possibly give Lily a grand wedding, could they?
Soon, the ceremony was over, and Andrew led Lily to toast the guests.
Lily changed into a red cheongsam, showcasing her voluptuous figure perfectly. It had to be said, a person really does depend on their clothes. Marrying Andrew made Lily look more dignified than she ever did with Samuel Mirren.
Even her temperament seemed to have been elevated, exuding the aura of a wealthy lady.
Nancy looked at the pearls and diamonds adorning Lily’s cheongsam collar, holding her wine glass with a smile, “Mrs. Lesser, congratulations on advancing your social status once again!”
Even though Andrew was right beside Lily, Nancy did not show her any respect. Though she didn’t use any foul language, every word was an insult to Lily!
