Charlie chuckled, "So, your Thompson family thinks Nan might be a lost member of your family?"
"It's more than just a family member!"
When it came to this topic, Michael became very serious.
"Our Thompson family is quite peculiar, almost like we're cursed. Starting from my grandfather's generation, no girls have been born into the direct line—only boys."
Nancy, Charlie, and the others listened intently. The Thompson family was an old family with unusual international influence. Ordinary people might never even get a glimpse of its secrets, if not for Nancy's unique position.
Especially Nancy and Linda—what girl doesn't like gossip?
So the two of them were particularly focused.
Michael shrugged, "But because of our family heirloom, the family head has always been a woman. My grandfather had no choice; with no girls in the family, he has been the acting head until now."
Linda was extremely curious, "Really? No girls in your grandfather's generation, what about your father's generation? And yours? That's three generations!"
Michael spread his hands in frustration, "None, really none."
Linda pouted, "Then it must be that your family has few offspring. Otherwise, how could such a big family go three generations without a single girl?"
Michael couldn't help but shout, "No! Our family is incredibly prolific. My grandfather's generation had thirteen brothers. My father's generation, including uncles and cousins, has over thirty people. In my generation, there are seventy or eighty cousins. Can you believe that?"
Not only did Linda and Nancy show exaggerated shock, but even Charlie, who had seen a lot, was wide-eyed.
Seventy or eighty cousins...
If they held a family meeting, they would need a theater to fit everyone in!
Michael almost cried, "Are you scared? There's no way around it. With no girls, the elders started pushing us to get married as soon as we came of age. After marriage, they pushed us to have children, one after another. If it weren't for the sheer number of brothers, the elders would probably make everyone have three, four, five, six, or seven kids! But even so, not a single girl was born."
"Tsk tsk tsk..."
Linda couldn't help clicking her tongue, "In Henriana, many families prefer boys over girls. They have several daughters just to try for a son. This is the first time I've heard of a family working so hard to have a girl. It's really inspiring!"
Then she pouted again, "A woman as the head of the family—it feels like a matriarchy. Michael, I think your family is quite interesting!"
"That's not the main point."
Charlie turned to look at Nancy, a pleased smile on his lips, "The main point is, if Nan is truly a blood relative of your Thompson family, does that mean she could become the head of the family?"
"Absolutely!"
Michael became excited, gesturing animatedly, "Think about it—three generations of effort without a single girl. If Nancy is indeed a direct descendant of the Thompson family, she wouldn't just be the head; she'd be the darling of the entire family!"
