Nancy nodded, gently patting Henry's hand. "I know that feeling. Just like when Dad became a vegetable, I was scared and confused too."
"Pretty much."
Henry sighed again. "Brother-in-law promised me that I would live with you guys, both now and in the future. That was when I wavered. It was because of that wavering that I realized I didn't love you. I was just afraid of losing you. As long as I could stay with you, even as a brother, I would be content. After all, you are the closest person to me in this world, and the one I've known the longest."
At this, he suddenly smiled. "So, sister, when you ask me if I like Linda, I really don't know."
Nancy finally understood Henry's feelings. She bit her lip and gently probed, "Then tell me, do you have any feelings for her? Does seeing her make you happy?"
"Of course!"
Henry's mind had just conjured up Linda's adorable doll-like face, making him smile uncontrollably. Now, his smile deepened. "Even though she talks a lot, like a chatterbox, I find her extremely cute. She's funny, cheerful, and lively, like a bundle of joy. I don't think anyone wouldn't like her or feel unhappy seeing her."
"That's true!"
Nancy had long experienced Linda's charm. For instance, there was David at the training camp. Initially, David only thought well of her and chose Linda as a team member because of her connection to Nancy. But as he got to know her better, David grew to like Linda more and more, as did the other instructors.
Their fondness for her was genuine, drawn to her personality, and they couldn't help but want to be around her. It could be said that as long as Linda was around, no matter the environment, it would never be boring. Such a person was hard to resist.
Thinking about this, Nancy felt a bit troubled. "Henry, with what you're saying, I can't be sure if you really like her. But Linda has already said she likes you. What I mean is, if you have feelings for her, then continue to get along well with her. But if you don't, tell her in advance so as not to waste her time and youth."
Henry's heart suddenly felt heavy, and even the smile on his face stiffened...
Because just thinking about telling Linda he didn't like her, and her distancing herself from him, made him feel uncomfortable.
"I..."
He took a deep breath, trying to dispel the knot in his heart, and said with difficulty, "Sister, let me think about it. I promise you, once I've figured it out, I'll give Linda an answer. I won't string her along."
"Okay."
Nancy patted Henry's shoulder in satisfaction. "I know you're not that kind of person, Henry."
After saying this, she seemed to think of something else. Her fingers suddenly gripped Henry's shoulder tightly. "But don't overthink it alone. You only need to consider if you truly like Linda and if you're willing to be with her every day. Don't think about family background or whether you're a good match!"
