Chapter 677: So, You're Blaming My Mother?

Nancy raised her eyebrows smugly, “Young Master Firth, be more confident and remove ‘think’ from your statement!”

You are my strategist!

Charlie chuckled and shook his head, “You… alright, strategist it is. Then you’re my general!”

General…

Nancy, “…”

Did she just dig a hole for herself?

Never mind, the focus now is on her mother’s diary.

She pouted, gently shaking his hand, “Don’t mind that. Quickly, keep going.”

“Alright.”

Charlie’s usually deep eyes suddenly darkened, “Third, at that time, Lily had already taken a liking to Andrew, while Andrew liked your mother and used Lily as an excuse to keep pestering her.”

This was apparent from reading the diary. Rose didn’t like Andrew’s pestering, but since Lily was introduced to Andrew by Rose, she felt somewhat guilty towards Andrew.

But even though Rose had made it clear to Andrew, he kept pestering her, which was too much.

“Fourth, your father suddenly disappeared. Though your mother didn’t know why, based on the earlier content, it can be inferred that it was likely because Andrew was constantly around your mother, crossing boundaries, which made your father jealous…”

Before he could finish, Nancy interrupted impatiently, “But jealousy is something that can be talked about, right? There’s no reason to disappear without a trace after just getting together. That makes him seem like a jerk!”

Not just a jerk!

An extreme jerk!

Charlie smiled slightly, squeezing Nancy’s hand, “Nan, some things aren’t as simple as they seem. To be honest, men are quite prideful and have strong egos in matters of the heart. If your father had confirmed his relationship with your mother and even announced it, but your mother still had… ambiguous interactions with another man, your father might…”

Seeing Nancy’s expression getting colder, Charlie cleared his throat and tried another approach, “Nan, let’s put it this way. If we were together, got married, and everyone knew, but you had a male friend who obviously liked you, I’d tell you once, maybe twice, that I mind him. But if the distance between you two didn’t change, I wouldn’t mention it a third time!”

Nancy’s expression was not only cold, but her heart felt cold as well, “So, you’re blaming my mother?”

“I’m not blaming your mother.”

Charlie sighed softly, “Your mother did have some missteps. She should have been more firm with Andrew. Any man, once rejected outright, no matter how much they like someone, wouldn’t keep pushing.”

Nancy’s body tilted, and she slapped her hand on the notebook, “My mother made it very clear. She told Andrew plainly, but Andrew kept bringing up Lily, making my mother feel guilty…”

“Exactly!”

Charlie nodded emphatically, “That’s why I said your mother’s actions were not entirely inappropriate. Andrew was extremely persistent and manipulative, using guilt and moral pressure to bind your mother!”
