Chapter 681: Light for You, Darkness for Me

After speaking, Nancy couldn't help but yawn.

Charlie glanced at her, knowing she was tired.

He wrapped his arms around Nancy's waist, and they both lay down on the bed.

"Let's not think about it now, and let's sleep. We'll investigate this slowly; the truth will come out one day."

...

The next day, Nancy took Rose Dench's notebook and started investigating the art school mentioned in Rose's diary with Charlie.

But it had been over twenty years; the school no longer existed, and even the principal had moved away. They couldn't find a single clue.

As a result, they couldn't find any information about the teachers who worked there either.

Nancy felt a bit dejected, but Charlie held her small hand tightly in his palm.

"Nancy, don't lose heart. We can still wait for news from Micheal. If we find your father directly, the truth from those years will come out."

Mentioning Micheal, Nancy couldn't help but think of her despicable father. She even started to imagine Micheal's face as her father's.

Her eyes turned cold. "I do need to find my father and ask him why he abandoned my mother back then!"

Her voice was so cold that it sent a chill down Charlie's spine. Seeing Nancy like this worried and pained him.

"Nancy."

He held her shoulders, looking down into her overly bright amber eyes.

"Regardless of why your father left your mother, I hope it doesn't affect you. We will seek justice, and even if he's part of the Thompson family, I can help you take revenge. But... I hope you can remain true to yourself."

Nancy looked into his deep eyes, slowly understanding his words.

"Heh..."

She let out a cold laugh, "And can you let go of Eva?"

Charlie took a deep breath and firmly said, "No!"

Nancy coldly pushed his hands away and took a step back, "If you can't, why ask me to do it? Don't you know the saying, 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'?"

"Nancy!"

Seeing her temper flare up again, Charlie softened his tone and pulled her into his arms.

The scent of her hair lingered around his nose, and her warmth filled his embrace. His voice became hoarse, "It's because I know what it feels like that I don't want you to fall into it too! If someone has to go to hell, let it be me. I'll take on all your resentment and hatred. I just want you to live happily and joyfully..."

At this point, his throat dried up, and he buried his face in her hair, whispering softly by her ear.

"I just want, when I'm trapped in darkness, for you to be my only light. When I'm blinded by hatred, for you to pull me out of hell. Nancy, we both can't go to hell. Light for you, darkness for me, okay?"

Nancy's body trembled fiercely; she never expected Charlie could do this for her!

Her hands slowly wrapped around him. Hearing his rapid, warm breaths by her ear, she knew his heart was wounded. She chuckled lightly, turned her head, and gently kissed his face, "Charlie, I'm ready. You can have me anytime you want!"
