Chapter 688: I Beg You. Is That Okay?

Seeing them all look over, Alexander immediately understood their confusion.

"I heard about the things that happened at Andrew's wedding."

That simple sentence explained how he knew about Nancy's matters.

But Linda was still dissatisfied, "Didn't you divorce Vivian? Why are you still so interested in Nancy?"

Alexander shrugged, his tone very innocent, "Although Nancy and I had some unpleasantness before, that was because I mistook her for Vivian. Since then, we've gotten along quite well. I consider us friends."

As a friend, he should help, especially when the friend is at their most lost.

Linda pursed her lips and said no more. If he insisted on portraying his concern for Nancy as so pure and innocent, what more could she say?

Nancy also didn't dwell on it. She only wanted to know about her parents now.

"Yes."

She looked at Amelia, her expression very serious, "I really want to know about my mother, and I also want to know who my biological father is."

"Alright, I can tell you."

Amelia gave Alexander a meaningful glance, and then smiled faintly, "But Nancy, we are not related. Why should I tell you these things? If it weren't for Alexander's persistent pleas, I wouldn't even be interested in meeting you."

Nancy really didn't understand why Amelia, whom she had never met, harbored such deep hostility toward her.

She took a deep breath and nodded to Alexander, "Thank you, Young Master Caine. If you ever need help in the future, just let me know."

"Tch..."

Amelia snorted disdainfully, "Can you help Alexander take over the Caine family?"

The Caine family...

This had nothing to do with Nancy, and why should she help Alexander take over the Caine family?

What was her relationship with Alexander that she would do such a dangerous and offensive thing for him?

Although she really wanted to know about her parents, and Amelia might be the only one who could tell her, Nancy had her principles and boundaries!

"I'm sorry. I think I was too naive."

With that, Nancy stood up.

Henry and Linda, seeing she was about to leave, also stood up.

Alexander panicked, turning and grabbing Amelia's arms, pleading desperately, "Aunt Amelia, you promised to help me this once; please help me. I don't need her to do anything for me. I just want to do something for her."

Amelia glared at him with disappointment, "Alexander, you can't be too selfless. If you do all this for her and she doesn't appreciate it, using you this time and then discarding you, who will you cry to?"

Alexander was truly anxious because he saw Nancy was already at the door. He called out to Nancy, and then looked back at Amelia.

"Aunt Amelia, I beg you, please? I will take over the Caine family myself. I already have a plan and don't need anyone's help. I can do it! And as a man, if I rely on a woman to help me take back the Caine family, even if I have the family in my hands, my pride would be shattered!"

Amelia stared at Alexander for a few seconds before finally sighing in resignation, "Alright, I'll help you this once. But remember, if you can't take over the Caine family, don't come crying to me!"
