Nancy had originally only been speculating, but now, seeing Amelia's reaction, her heart was at ease.
"It looks like you really don't know that Rose has a twin sister."
"That's not true!"
Amelia argued, "We've worked with Rose for more than a year and never knew she had a twin sister! Nancy, are you making this up to help your mother save face?"
"Aunt Amelia..."
Alexander stood up, placing his hands on her shoulders and gently calming her, "Nancy isn't lying to you. This woman really is Rose, and she is Vivian's biological mother. I know this for a fact."
"You..."
Amelia turned to look at Alexander. His eyes were sincere, and she knew Alexander wouldn't lie to her.
Though it seemed unbelievable, she still believed it.
Turning her head back to Nancy, her eyes grew confused, "Does Rose really have a twin sister? Even if that's true, what... what does it have to do with what happened back then?"
Seeing that her tone had softened, Nancy was no longer so confrontational.
After all, Amelia was an elder. If it weren't for Amelia's harsh tone upon arrival, Nancy wouldn't have been so sharp in her words.
"It matters, a lot."
Nancy opened her bag and took out Rose's notebook, "Take a look at this. It's my mother's diary from back then."
Amelia looked at Nancy with a complex expression before slowly reaching out to take the notebook.
By now, her mood had calmed down and she wasn't as agitated as before. She took the notebook and sat down.
Nancy, Henry, and Linda didn't speak; the three of them just quietly watched Amelia.
Amelia turned the pages one by one, reading carefully. When she finished, her eyes were red.
"So, Rose had already explained everything to Noah a long time ago, and it was Lily, her twin sister, who kept bothering Noah?"
"Yes."
Nancy nodded and sighed, "That's why I never understood why you all spoke about her like that. But hearing your words just now, I thought it didn't match what was written in her diary. I guessed that maybe you didn't know she had a twin sister."
"We didn't know, really didn't."
Amelia closed the notebook, stood up, and handed it back to Nancy.
"Back then, we girls despised Rose, but there were more male teachers at the school, and after Rose started dating Hugh, she spent even less time with us. So, thinking back, the one bothering Noah outside of school must have been Lily. At the time, we even secretly cursed Rose for being shameless, thinking she was pestering Noah behind Hugh's back."
Linda, who had been quietly listening the whole time, finally couldn't hold back her chatter.
"It's just so strange, though. It's understandable that Aunt Rose didn't mention she had a twin sister, but Noah knew it was Lily bothering him. He should have known many female colleagues disliked Aunt Rose because of this. So why didn't he explain it to help her?"
