Charlie had mentioned before that Andrew's actions were very calculated. Now that the suspicion pointed towards him once again, Nancy's perception of her adoptive father began to waver.
Amelia frowned, also somewhat taken aback.
"If that's the case, it explains some of Noah's seemingly inexplicable actions back then. We used to wonder if Noah had split personalities because, at school, he was so nice to Rose, buying her fruit and candies. But outside of school, he avoided her. Turns out it wasn't the same person."
At that time, they didn't just dislike Rose; they disliked Noah too.
Noah's actions were contemptible to them.
He seemed to be playing a game of push and pull, avoiding Rose while also being attentive. They even secretly said that Noah was just stringing Rose along.
When the truth finally surfaced, Amelia found it a bit dramatic.
"So, Noah actually liked Rose and used Lily as a decoy to make Rose feel guilty, ensuring she wouldn't treat him too harshly at school."
Nancy didn't speak because she was struggling to accept this version of Noah.
Amelia, not noticing Nancy's change in expression, continued her analysis, "So, it's possible that Hugh didn't know Rose had a twin sister and misunderstood her, thinking she was a promiscuous woman dating him while stringing along Noah. That's why he disappeared?"
Nancy suddenly thought of a crucial point, "Did you know that Noah later married Lily? You were all colleagues; didn't anyone know about this?"
"This..."
Amelia looked embarrassed, "We really didn't know! After Hugh left so suddenly, we all found it baffling, and not long after, Rose also resigned. Noah never mentioned to us that he got married!"
Nancy, "..."
She didn't know what to say.
It seemed as if Noah had hidden Lily from everyone from the beginning.
Was it because Lily couldn't be seen in public, or was there some other reason? Why wouldn't he introduce his wife to his colleagues?
Moreover, Nancy was genuinely curious—Noah hated Lily so much, so why did he marry her back then?
What exactly happened?
But seeing that Amelia didn't seem to know the reason either, Nancy didn't ask.
"Alright, thank you for letting me know so much."
Nancy stood up; she needed to go home and process all the information she had learned today.
Amelia also stood up, "Nancy, I formally apologize for my previous attitude towards you and Rose. I really didn't know there was so much behind this, and I was blinded by my assumptions, misunderstanding your mother for so many years."
Nancy was a bit surprised. It was understandable if Amelia didn't apologize since she didn't know the truth back then.
Her apology made things more intriguing.
Nancy looked at Amelia, politely smiling, and suddenly, she asked a question out of the blue.
"May I ask why did you have such a big issue with my mother? I don't think it was just out of a sense of justice. Could it be... you also liked Hugh back then?"
