Seeing that both of them were getting impatient, he finally stammered out his words.
"I had Nancy’s hair taken back, and Grandpa gathered all the direct male members of The Thompson family and took their blood for a paternity test, but…"
He scratched the back of his head in frustration. "It’s really strange. None of them turned out to be Nancy’s father, but…"
He bit his lip with a pained expression. "But the paternity test shows that Nancy does have some blood relation to them."
Nancy frowned and asked in displeasure, "What do you mean by this?"
Micheal spread his hands helplessly. "I don’t know what’s going on. Grandpa said that we couldn’t find Nancy’s biological father, but there’s still a slight blood relation. So, I don’t even know how to explain this strange situation to you."
Nancy let out a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
"Did you only check the direct line? Maybe he's from a collateral branch?"
"That's impossible!"
Micheal immediately rejected Nancy's suggestion without hesitation.
"That book can only be accessed by direct members of The Thompson family. The collateral line doesn’t even have the right to look at it, let alone make a full copy."
Nancy’s face instantly darkened, and anger flickered in her eyes. Micheal quickly said, "Nancy, although we didn’t find your biological father, Grandpa said it’s already confirmed that you are indeed a member of The Thompson family!"
"Heh..."
Nancy laughed mockingly. "This is truly ridiculous. You gathered all the direct members of The Thompson family but couldn’t find my biological father, yet you still claim that I’m one of you? Is your family so casual when it comes to bloodline?"
Who would believe such nonsense?
Forget about The Thompson family, even when the Lesser family recognized her and Vivian, they had a paternity test done. In powerful families, how could they tolerate any confusion over bloodlines?
Given the things Hugh had done—abandoning his wife and child—The Thompson family probably found Hugh, learned about his disgraceful actions, and didn’t dare admit they had located him. But they still wanted Nancy to acknowledge her heritage. After all, there hadn’t been a girl born in The Thompson family in three generations, so they wanted to secure her and trick her into returning to The Thompson family to take on the ridiculous role of the main house's heir!
If she hadn’t found Rose Dench’s notebook or met Amelia Blake, she might have been eager to claim The Thompson family as her relatives!
This time, Micheal finally noticed something strange in Nancy’s mocking gaze.
He paused for a moment and asked suspiciously, "Nancy, have you found out something?"
Nancy raised an eyebrow and sneered, "So what if I have?"
"Huh?"
Micheal jumped to his feet in excitement, unable to contain himself. "What did you find out? Tell me!"
Nancy was about to throw out another sarcastic remark, but her hand was suddenly gripped tightly by Charlie.
She closed her mouth and looked at Charlie in surprise.
Charlie curved his lips slightly, his tone calm, "We know that Nan’s biological father is Hugh."
"Hugh?"
Micheal was immediately stunned, his eyes wide open. "Who is Hugh? Why don’t I know of anyone named Hugh in The Thompson family?"
"Huh?"
Nancy and Charlie looked at Micheal, dumbfounded. From Micheal’s confused expression, they could tell he wasn’t pretending...
