Chapter 702: Isn't That Too Much?

Old Master Lesser’s illness had caused quite a stir throughout Liverton!

At that time, the Lesser family sought out famous doctors everywhere, creating quite a buzz in the city.

But soon, the matter passed, and Old Master Lesser recovered and was discharged from the hospital. Everyone thought the Lesser family had found a renowned doctor. Who would have thought it was Nancy who saved the old master?

The guests were instantly unsettled.

"Old Master Lesser was cured by Nancy?"

"Does Nancy really have such skills?"

"Ha! It's said that doctors have compassionate hearts. Isn't it a doctor’s duty to treat patients? But Nancy made demands? Her heart must be filthy. She’s not fit to be a doctor!"

Someone nearby coldly remarked, "Nancy isn’t even a doctor. She’s the technical director at Mr. Firth’s company."

The person retorted, "Even if she isn’t working as a doctor, isn’t it still her responsibility to heal the sick?"

"Oh really? So what you’re saying is..."

Emily Wilson stepped out from the crowd, giving the speaker a cold sneer. "Just because someone knows how to treat illnesses, they’re obligated to treat anyone? Then what’s the point of hospitals? If you’re sick, don’t bother going to one. Just find someone with medical skills to treat you for free! Sounds like a great deal, right?"

Someone couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "Hahaha, exactly! Nancy doesn’t work at a hospital, nor does she earn a living as a doctor. Why should she treat you for free? Is it because you’re ugly?"

The speaker’s face turned bright red with anger. "But she demanded the Lesser family's heirloom as payment. Isn’t that excessive?"

Emily crossed her arms and smirked mockingly, "First of all, we don’t even know if Nancy asked for the Lesser family's heirloom. Even if she did, since the Lesser family agreed, and Nancy cured Old Master Lesser’s illness, isn’t it fair to give it to her? Honestly, the Lesser family is quite amusing. Now they come to make a scene at her wedding—how petty!"

Quentin had thought his words would ruin Nancy’s reputation, but he hadn’t expected anyone to stand up for her! He shot a sinister glance at Emily, mentally taking note of her.

Emily, however, showed no fear. She glanced at him sideways, her meaning clear: Do your worst!

Andrew, fuming with anger, glared at Quentin and whispered, "Haven’t you embarrassed us enough?"

Quentin shrugged, a carefree smirk playing on his lips.

"Brother, those who know, know you're Nancy’s foster father. But those who don’t might think Nancy has a 'godfather' in you, giving her free rein over the Lesser family!"

The word "godfather" had taken on negative connotations in recent times. And given that most of the people present were no strangers to scandal, it wasn’t hard for them to catch Quentin’s insinuation.

There were a few snickers from the crowd, but as soon as Emily’s gaze swept over them, they fell silent, no one daring to utter another word against Nancy.

Before Andrew could respond, Emily took two steps closer.

"Mr. Lesser, your words... haha... Well, I’ve also prepared a dowry for Nancy. I’ve even included a family heirloom from the Wilson family as a wedding gift. What’s next? Are you going to accuse her of making me her 'godfather' too?"

"Pfft, hahaha..."

Someone in the crowd couldn’t hold back any longer and burst into laughter.
