Chapter 710: Who Is She Trying to Impress?

Arthur was beyond embarrassed, and even Micheal wished he could find a hole to crawl into.

This time, they had indeed acted too hastily.

He should have spoken to Nancy beforehand.

“Grandfather…”

Micheal tugged on Arthur’s sleeve, the meaning clear in his gesture.

“Let’s go.”

Arthur had lost all his fire. He had been so full of spirit when they arrived, but now he was utterly dejected.

“We’ll find a place to sit and quietly wait for the wedding to begin.”

With that, the members of the Thompson family dispersed, finding a few tables to sit at quietly.

Meanwhile, the onlookers were wide-eyed with astonishment.

They couldn’t understand it at all. Was Nancy out of her mind? This was the Thompson family!

Forget about acknowledging the Thompson family as kin—even just maintaining good relations with them would benefit her future development.

Taylor was fuming, “Vivian, don’t you think Nancy is pretending? The Thompson family is practically begging to claim her, and she’s acting all high and mighty. Who is she trying to impress?”

Vivian didn’t know who Nancy was trying to impress, but she knew one thing—she was insanely jealous!

All those dowries, each one priceless. If she could get just one, she’d be smiling in her sleep. And yet Nancy didn’t want any of it! Wasn’t that infuriating?

It wasn’t just her. Many of the high-society ladies present had red eyes from envy, and quite a few men secretly envied Charlie.

Nancy had beauty, a perfect figure, and skill. Her only flaw had been her unclear family background.

Now that was resolved—she was part of the Thompson family, and not just any part, but the heir to the main branch! Charlie must have walked a path of sheer luck, right?

Charlie’s cold gaze swept around the room, noticing that both men and women alike were green with jealousy.

He shook his head. These people, so shallow, were no match for his Nancy.

Once the Thompson family quieted down, the other guests followed suit.

Andrew sat silently by himself, not speaking to Vivian or Quentin beside him, his hands clenched into fists under the table.

On the other hand, Eva Luther’s previous sour expression had completely disappeared. Now, her grin was so wide it nearly reached her ears, and her pride was impossible to hide.

As the wedding was about to begin, a young member of the Firth family approached Andrew. “Mr. Lesser, the wedding is about to start. Please…”

“Alright.”

Andrew stood up and straightened his clothes. “I’ll head over now.”

Last night, Nancy had agreed to let him escort her down the aisle, and now it was time.

As the sound of the wedding cannons echoed, all eyes turned to the red carpet.

Henry Swinton stepped out, carrying a woman dressed in traditional bridal attire with a phoenix coronet and red veil.

“Wow! She’s here! She’s here!”

“Even with the veil, Nancy’s figure is unbelievable!”

Hearing the admiration from those around him, Andrew felt a surge of pride.

After all, this was the daughter he had raised with his own hands…

Henry carried Nancy to the middle of the red carpet, where Andrew was waiting. He extended his hands, helping Nancy down from Henry’s back.

Just as Andrew was about to take Nancy’s hand and walk her toward Charlie, Arthur’s angry voice rang out, “What’s going on? What’s going on? Nancy is getting married, and not a single Thompson family member is up there. How can someone from the Lesser family be escorting her down the aisle?”
