Chapter 711: Who Knows What Your True Intentions Were in Raising Her?

His roar instantly drew everyone’s attention toward him.

Earlier, his grand entrance to deliver Nancy’s dowry had already attracted everyone's notice. Now, everyone watched with great interest. They saw him stride over with his cane, full of imposing authority, and forcefully grab Nancy's arm.

“Nancy, even though the Thompson family still hasn’t found out who your biological father is, today you’re getting married, and it must be us, the Thompson family, who sends you off!”

Andrew Lesser had already been furious earlier. Though his offering appeared humble compared to the Thompson family’s, he hadn’t said much. But now, with Arthur Thompson essentially asking for a slap in the face, Andrew would be a fool not to take the opportunity.

“Hah... Mr. Thompson.”

Andrew still held tightly to Nancy’s arm, refusing to let Arthur take her away even an inch.

“Why shouldn’t I be the one to send Nan off? I’ve raised her since she was born, for over twenty years. Even without a blood connection, she’s more of a daughter to me than anything else. It’s only right for me to send her off. The Thompson family has no right to interfere!”

“Pah!”

Arthur spat directly on Andrew’s face. “Who knows what your real intentions were in raising her?”

The spit dripped down Andrew’s face, leaving him in a wretched state.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, practically gritting his teeth as he said, “What ulterior motive could I possibly have in raising her? But the Thompson family, where were you when Nan was born? Oh, now she’s all grown up and successful, and you want to take her back? What kind of logic is that?”

Nancy stood still, unmoving. No one could see her expression under the bridal veil.

Logically, as the protagonist in this situation, she should say something to ease the awkward tension, but instead, she stood there silently like a doll, allowing the two men to tug her back and forth.

Vivian Lesser was seething. “This is so humiliating! My dad is actually fighting to send Nancy off. If this gets out, where will our Lesser family’s reputation go?”

Quentin Lesser glanced at her and chuckled softly, “Don’t worry, it’s not as simple as it seems. Just watch.”

Sure enough, despite having no moral high ground, Arthur straightened his back and looked at Andrew with deep eyes. “Hah… Now I’m really curious, Andrew. What kind of mindset, and what kind of relationship, led you to adopt Nancy back then under such circumstances?”

“I…”

Andrew clenched his teeth and exhaled sharply. “My wife is Nan’s mother’s older sister. Is there a problem with me adopting her?”

“Hahahaha…”

Arthur threw his head back and laughed. “But I heard that your wife didn’t get along with her sister at all and treated Nan terribly, always hitting and scolding her. I’m curious, how did you come to adopt Nan when she despised both her sister and her niece?”

“Exactly…”

That question had lingered in many people’s minds for a long time.

Back when Andrew married Lily Dench, the whole scandal involving the Lesser family had spread far and wide.

Everyone had been puzzled, but no one dared to ask Andrew to his face. Now, Arthur had raised the question, sparking everyone’s curiosity once again.

“I’ve always wondered, Mrs. Lesser’s character is so poor, so how did she come to adopt Nancy all those years ago? And the funniest thing is, after adopting her, she didn’t even treat her as a daughter. What’s the point of that?”
