Chapter 716: The One Who Understands Me Is Nan!

This... this... this…

Everyone from the Thompson family was furious!

If Nancy wasn’t so important to the Thompson family, they wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to appeal to her.

Arthur exhaled, and through gritted teeth, he forced out his words. “Those items are gifts from the Thompson family, not dowry. Once we give something, we never take it back!”

With that, he waved his hand in frustration, cast a fierce glare at Charlie, and left with the rest of his people.

Inside the car, Arthur’s chest still heaved with anger.

Micheal was equally upset. “Nancy and Charlie really don’t know how to appreciate kindness! We’ve already humbled ourselves to this extent. Even if Nancy is still angry, with how sincerely we’ve shown ourselves, they shouldn’t treat us this way!”

Micheal expected Arthur to join him in criticizing Nancy and Charlie, but instead, Arthur started laughing.

Confused, Micheal turned to him, bewildered. “Grandpa, why are you laughing?”

Arthur stroked his beard, and excitement gleamed in his eyes. “Good, good. Both Nancy and Charlie are impressive! Faced with such wealth and power, they didn’t waver and stayed true to their principles. Their integrity is truly rare in this world!”

If Charlie had been interested in leveraging the Thompson family’s influence or their wealth, he would have cozied up to them, no matter how much Nancy resisted.

But Charlie’s attitude today showed he was someone who couldn’t be swayed by riches.

A man like him, combined with Nancy, would be an unbeatable alliance.

As Micheal mulled over Arthur’s words, understanding dawned on him.

Now that he understood, his anger dissipated. Looking at Arthur, he cautiously asked, “So… Grandpa, what should we do next?”

Arthur lifted his chin proudly. “We return to Liverton immediately and start expanding our Thompson family business all over Henriana. That way, no one will dare to bully Nancy again!”

Micheal Thompson rubbed his nose thoughtfully. “But without finding Hugh, Nancy won’t acknowledge us.”

“Hmph!”

Arthur snorted, “He’s part of the Thompson family. I refuse to believe we can’t dig him up!”

After seeing off all the guests, Charlie returned to his bridal chamber.

Inside the room, candlelight flickered gently through sheer drapes. Nancy, still dressed in her beautiful wedding gown, sat properly on the wedding bed.

Charlie chuckled softly, picking up the ceremonial stick on the table as he walked over to her.

With a gentle lift of the stick, Nancy’s breathtaking face was revealed, her amber eyes sparkling with a smile as they met his gaze.

"Nan, you’re so beautiful!"

His compliment came straight from the heart as he reached out, taking her wrist and helping her to stand. His demeanor and the atmosphere resembled that of an ancient wedding night.

Nancy stood gracefully, allowing him to guide her to the table. Charlie picked up a jug of wine, poured two cups, and handed one to Nancy, and then took the other himself.

“Nan, drink this wedding wine with me, and you’ll be my wife.”

Nancy’s smile nearly overflowed from her eyes. “Husband, I bet what you really want to say is, once we drink this wine, we should get on with the real business, right?”

“Heh…”

Charlie crossed his arm with hers, and after they both drank, he suddenly placed his cup down on the table.

Before Nancy could react, Charlie scooped her up in his arms, carrying her bridal style.

“The one who truly understands me is you, Nan! I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time…”
