Alexander never expected Vivian to storm over, nor did he anticipate that, as the eldest daughter of the Lesser family, she would resort to pulling a scene like this in public.
"Vivian!"
Alexander’s face darkened. "We’re divorced! Whatever I do, whoever I’m with, it has nothing to do with you!"
"Bullshit!"
Vivian knew she was making a spectacle of herself, behaving like a shrew, but she couldn’t help it.
If Alexander had been chasing after someone else, she might have let it go. But why, of all people, did he have to pester Nancy—the person she hated the most?
How could she possibly hold back?
"Alexander, you bastard! You divorced me because of that wretched Nancy, didn’t you? Admit it! You two were already fooling around in Taurus!"
Nancy had been standing by, watching the drama unfold like an amusing play. But when Vivian started dragging her name through the mud, she could no longer stay silent.
"Vivian, get a grip! Don’t act like a rabid dog, biting whoever you see!"
"You bitch!"
Vivian glared at Nancy with unrestrained fury. "You seduced my husband—"
"Vivian! We’re divorced!"
Alexander grabbed Vivian’s wrist and twisted it back, restraining her hand. "Whatever I do is none of your business. And for the last time, my divorce had nothing to do with Nancy."
"Ouch…"
Vivian’s eyes brimmed with tears from the pain, and her free hand slapped repeatedly at Alexander’s arm. "Let go of me! Let me go!"
Nancy, fed up with the commotion, decided she’d had enough. Being unjustly implicated was bad enough—she wasn’t about to stoop to Vivian’s level and bark back in public.
"Alexander, stop following me. Otherwise, Vivian’s nonsense will make people misunderstand. Please conduct yourself with dignity!"
Without waiting for a response, she grabbed Linda and Emily by the hands and walked away.
"Enough already!"
Linda huffed in frustration. "Vivian’s like a mad dog! She bites whoever crosses her path. She’s insane!"
Emily shook her head. "When she came to my house before, I already noticed her low emotional intelligence and poor character. Everything she says is just infuriating."
Nancy nodded. "Let’s keep our distance from her in the future. No point in lowering ourselves to her level."
Even after they’d walked a considerable distance, they could still hear Vivian and Alexander arguing.
Nancy couldn’t care less. She led Linda and Emily into the jade gambling room instead.
The stones here were much larger than the ones outside, and each was labeled with a price. After the auction ended, the room had filled with people eager to try their luck.
Emily immediately spotted Zack and quickly averted her gaze in annoyance.
She wanted to avoid him, but Zack had no intention of letting her slip away and strode straight toward their group.
"Nancy."
Zack didn’t fixate on Emily but instead focused on Nancy. However, his occasional sidelong glances at Emily didn’t go unnoticed.
"I lost to you at the auction earlier. How about we play a round here?"
Nancy cast him an indifferent look. "Do I know you?"
Zack’s face tightened, his irritation briefly visible before he smoothed it over with a smile. "Haha, Nancy, there’s no need to be so distant. Like I said before, having one more friend is always better than having one more enemy—"
Nancy impatiently pushed him away. "I’ve already told you, not just anyone qualifies to be my friend."
