Chapter 738: The Man I Fancy Can’t Possibly Be Bad, Right?

Nancy bent down to help the sobbing woman to her feet, but the woman was so weak from crying that Nancy couldn’t lift her alone.

Henry quickly stepped in, firmly pulling the woman up from the ground.

"You don’t need to thank me. Just go get divorced and use the money to treat your son’s illness."

Nancy’s gentle tone seemed to ignite a glimmer of hope in the woman’s eyes. She clutched Nancy’s hand tightly, her gratitude spilling over. "You’re a lifesaver! I’ll repay you even if I have to work like an ox or a horse in the future."

With those words, the woman left with Jason, whose eagerness to finalize the deal drew murmurs of disdain from the onlookers.

"They say couples are like birds of a feather, but this Jason is pure scum!"

"Gambling addicts don’t have morals. He’s nothing but garbage!"

Linda sighed wistfully. "If I hadn’t already met Mr. Firth and Nancy, seeing those two would’ve convinced me to never get married in my life."

"What are you saying?"

Henry frowned, turning to her. "Men like Jason are the exception, not the rule. Most men are responsible and dependable, not shameless cowards like him."

"Hahaha, exactly!"

Nancy clapped Henry on the shoulder. "Take Henry here as an example."

Linda blushed, a proud smile spreading across her face as she raised her chin. "Of course! The man I, Linda, fancy can’t possibly be bad!"

"Hehe…"

Emily couldn’t help but laugh at their banter. "Ah, being around you young people is so refreshing. I feel like I’ve shed ten years just listening to you."

Nearby, Ashley’s perception of Nancy shifted even further.

Earlier, Ashley could rationalize Nancy spending over 101 million dollars on the Phoenix Bracelet because of her close relationship with Emily. But what Nancy did for the desperate woman and her son truly highlighted her character.

Ashley couldn’t help but ask, "Nancy, that woman had no connection to you. Why did you help her? Surely you know you can’t save everyone in need."

"You’re right, I can’t help everyone," Nancy replied. "But if I cross paths with someone and have the means to save a mother and her child, I think it’s worth doing."

Henry nodded vigorously in agreement. "Exactly. Back when our dad had to work long hours and couldn’t take care of us, the neighbors often fed us because they saw how pitiful we were. There’s kindness in this world. We may not be able to help everyone, but when we can, we should."

Linda glanced at the raw stone Nancy had just bought for six million. Her round, doll-like face puffed up in concern.

"But Nancy, this means your costs just shot up. Six million… Are we still going to win?"

Nancy’s earlier strategy had been to minimize costs while maximizing profits. Spending six million in one go completely flipped that plan. Without extraordinary luck, the risk of a huge loss was glaringly high.

Ashley’s face mirrored Linda’s unease as she eyed the stone in the cart. "Six million… Breaking even might already be a stretch…"

Emily, noticing the heavy atmosphere, forced a smile to lighten the mood. "It’s okay. Worst case, you’ll just have to accompany me to dinner with Zack. It’s not the end of the world…"
