Bruce searched the house, sweat pouring from his brow in concern. He was curious as to where his daughter had gone.
His face turned pale. He knew that if he couldn't find her, the Lawson family would vanish from this city.
"I have no idea where Freya went," he said, his voice full of anxiety.
Frederick, however, paid him no attention and instead turned around to leave and inform Bradley of the situation.
Mr. Austin, we have looked everywhere in the Lawson home for Mrs. Austin, but we have found no trace of her. I'm afraid she is not in the Lawson house," Frederick reported.
Bradley's face turned gloomy, as they still hadn't located her after almost two hours of his waiting here.
"Ask more people to search for her and leave no stone unturned until you find her!" he commanded in a stern tone.
"Yes, Mr. Austin," Frederick promptly responded. Bradley's eyes turned icy and devoid of any emotion as he prepared to step on the accelerator and leave.
However, he heard a familiar voice calling out his name the next second.
"Bradley?"
The car window slowly rolled down, and Bradley glanced at Patrick with a calm expression, his voice cold, "What are you doing here?"
"I just dropped off a pretty girl who lives around here. What are you doing here, Bradley?" Patrick replied.
Patrick was in the neighborhood to drop Freya off. As he unexpectedly spotted Bradley's car parked on the road, he approached to say hello.
Bradley remained silent for a few seconds, looking up at the illuminated house before answering, "I'm here to pick up my wife."
Patrick was slightly puzzled, "I arranged a nice show for you, but you left the bar and instead came here to pick up your idiot wife?"
Bradley's gaze swept over his friend, his tone frosty, "You better never use the word 'idiot' in my presence again. Fuck off!"
While Freya may not be the smartest, Bradley didn't like to see her being belittled as a fool.
After a brief moment of wanting to poke fun at him, Patrick recoiled in fear at Bradley's menacing glare.
"Okay, I'm outta here. Take your time picking up your lady. Bro," Patrick said, stepped on the gas, and quickly disappeared without a trace.
Standing in front of Lawson's residence, Freya stood at the doorway and noticed that it was brightly lit, indicating that Bradley had arrived to pick her up.
She picked up some ash from the ground and smeared it on her face, pretending to be mentally disturbed as she entered the house.
Upon seeing her, a servant in the house yelled, "Miss Freya is back!".
Bruce hurriedly came out from inside, his face displaying extreme displeasure as if he was about to scold her severely.
"Where have you been, Mrs. Austin? Mr. Austin is here to take you home," Frederick took the initiative to talk to her.
Though Bruce had the intention to be angry, he didn't dare to say anything.
Freya timidly lowered her head and spoke in a weak voice, "I... I wanted to take a walk... but I ended up getting lost."
Frederick found it difficult to believe her words, as he knew few people would get lost in the neighborhood where they lived.
Observing his incredulous expression, Freya hurriedly added, "I'm sorry... I shouldn't have gone out."
"It's alright. Mr. Austin is waiting for you by the roadside. Why don't you go freshen up and come back home with us?" Frederick asked.
Freya nodded, casting a fearful glance at Bruce, and cautiously made her way toward the car.
Upon realizing the extent of Freya's fear, Frederick's demeanor towards Bruce underwent a noticeable change. "According to Mr. Austin, if the Lawson family fails to provide proper care for Mrs. Austin, she will never return home anymore," he declared, his tone serious.
Bruce's anxiety spiked as soon as he heard this. "Frederick, this was our mistake. We will certainly ensure Freya is well taken care of in the future," he responded.
Worriedly, he asked himself, "If Freya won't come back home, how can we please her and benefit from her?"
Sophie chimed in right away, "It's true, Frederick. What happened today was totally a misunderstanding! Please don't prevent my daughter from returning to her own home. I promise we will take good care of her whenever she comes back."
"Mr. Austin should make the decision in this matter. Now that I have found Mrs. Austin, I will take her away," he asserted.
....
Bradley was resting his arm on the car window and staring off into space as he sat there.
Suddenly, Frederick lightly tapped on the car window, announcing, "Mr. Austin! Mrs. Austin is here!"
Bradley adjusted his disguise and then opened the car door, gesturing for Freya to get in. "Get in the car," he instructed.
Impatience grew within him wildly during his waiting. He seriously considered ejecting Bruce from the city if Freya didn't show up soon.
Freya got in the car as instructed, and the red wine and mint aroma made her take a deep breath. Bradley's enchanting eyes held her attention completely.
His eyes were like a beautiful night sky, filled with stars but lacking focus.
Because he couldn't ignore her goofy grin, Bradley bent down and grabbed her wrist, yanking her close to him.
Freya was taken aback when she found herself suddenly engulfed in his embrace.
Because of how close they were, the aroma of the red wine from the carriage wafted over to her nose.
She cuddled up to him, close enough to feel his body heat and hear his strong heartbeat. It brought back memories of their first kiss, and her face flushed, and she fought back.
"Do not move," Bradley warned sternly, firmly holding her in his embrace as if they were locked in a vice grip.
Freya found herself completely immobilized, and their intimate position sparked a whirlwind of thoughts.
Observing the couple from outside the car, Frederick smiled with contentment.
Bradley had never shown much interest in women, and the three women he had sent before had failed to even get close to him before they mysteriously disappeared.
However, Frederick sensed that Bradley seemed unusually intrigued by Miss Lawson. At that moment, he felt that this young lady might be Mr. Austin's savior.
Suddenly, bright headlights appeared in the distance, and a red sports car pulled up at the house's entrance. Upon hearing the car engine sound, Freya looked up and peered through the window.
Lola stepped out of the car and blew a kiss to Ethan, who was seated in the driver's seat, saying, "Ethan, see you tomorrow! Love you."
Freya had a sudden idea. "Since I am leaving, I should give the Lawson family a special gift," she thought to herself.
