Chapter 25 Your Future Sister-in-Law Makes You Pay

Ethan was so angry and frustrated that he swore he would make Freya pay for what she had done once he finally caught her.

But just as he was about to leave, the jewelry store owner and his clerk followed him out.

"Sir, your aunt just spent $150,000 on a necklace in our store. Please make the payment," said the store clerk.

"Damn it!" Ethan swore, shoving the store clerk aside, and took off running.

"This idiot! Does she think I'm stupid?" Ethan muttered to himself, feeling frustrated.

After becoming frustrated with Ethan, the store clerk yelled, "Sir, you haven't made the payment yet!" and dispatched security to find him.

They quickly detained him.

"If she bought those things, go ask her for the money instead of bothering me," Ethan grumbled.

"She claimed you were her nephew and that you had her credit card. Please make the payment, or we will call the police," the store clerk insisted.

Feeling angry, Ethan glared at the clerk who was about to make a phone call and reluctantly said, "Fine, I'll pay."

The clerk swiftly brought out a point-of-sale machine for Ethan to swipe his card.

Finally, everyone working there gave him a friendly nod and a warm "Welcome to come again" when Ethan left.

Ethan's eyes blazed with rage as he realized Freya had done this on purpose.

Freya entered a store for women's apparel as Ethan searched the mall for her. Instead of approaching her directly, he watched her from a distance and waited for the right moment to catch her.

Freya shopped for two outfits at a women's clothing store, two pairs of shoes at a luxurious shoe store, and two shirts for Bradley at a men's clothing store.

After her extensive shopping trip, she made a point of saying something to each sales associate.

"Ethan Austin is a member of the Austin family, and he's my boyfriend. Please put everything I bought under his name," Freya said.

As soon as Freya noticed Ethan following her, she said, "Look, my boyfriend is over there."

Before Ethan could even respond, a group of people were already running in his direction. He saw that things weren't looking good and ran away immediately.

Freya had shopped at countless name-brand stores, so today would be the day of reckoning for Ethan if all the bills were put in his name.

Ethan's sense of impending doom grew as more and more people chased after him.

Unaware of the extent of Freya's purchases, Ethan frantically tried to escape the growing crowd. However, no matter how fast he ran, the group behind him continued to shout, "Stop, or we're calling the police!"

At that very moment, Ethan was unable to give any thought to anything other than continuing to run as fast as he could.

Arthur froze Ethan's credit cards after the last time he got into trouble. The only credit card he had given Lola had a million-dollar limit, which had likely been depleted in order to compensate the women's clothing store.

The last remaining card in Ethan's possession had just been swiped for three hundred thousand dollars, leaving him completely broke. Even if he wanted to repay his debts, he simply couldn't afford to do so now.

"He just wants to rack up debts! Call the police immediately!" someone in the crowd exclaimed.

The salespeople assumed Ethan was trying to evade payment of his debts when he ran out the door, so they dialed 911 right away to report the crime.

The mall's entire security system went into overdrive, and as Ethan ran, he saw a squad of guards charging at him with electric batons.

There were guards in the front and debt collectors in the back, and they quickly encircled Ethan.

Guards swarmed over and pinned him down onto the ground. Ethan was nearly knocked out by the pain of a baton's direct hit.

A group of store clerks approached Ethan, panting heavily, their anger evident in their voices. "You better pay up quickly, or once the police arrive, they'll throw you in jail," they warned.

Infuriated by their actions, Ethan let out a fierce roar. "How dare you hit me! Do you even know who I am?"

One of the store clerks retorted, "Of course, we know who you are. You're Ethan from the Austin family."

"Well, since you know, then get off me!" Ethan exclaimed in agony as he struggled against their hold.

"Even if you're the president, you have to pay for it. Your girlfriend just bought two dresses in my store, totaling forty thousand dollars."

"She also purchased two pairs of shoes from our store, adding up to three hundred thousand dollars," added another clerk.

"And let's not forget the two limited edition shirts she bought for you from our store for five hundred thousand dollars," a third store clerk said.

Each amount announced caused Ethan's head to pound with pain.

He cursed that conniving girl in his mind, realizing that she was intentionally trying to bankrupt him.

Also, he knew that the shirts she bought were not meant for him but for Bradley!

Feeling utterly helpless, Ethan faced the wrath of the furious store clerks. "That idiot is not my girlfriend! She's my girlfriend's sister!"

The store clerk responded matter-of-factly, "Even if she's not your girlfriend, she's your future sister-in-law, so you still need to pay."

Desperation surged through Ethan. "I don't have any money!"

"If you have no money, then we'll take you to the police station."

Lola was brought over by them by a shop staff, sobbing as she said, "Ethan, the money is not enough!"

Ethan was so angry that he smashed the ground with all his might.

In an instant, he was wailing in agony.

The police arrived shortly after, and they both took Ethan and Lola away.

Ethan yelled up to the shopping center's ceiling, "Freya if I ever see you again, I will kill you!"

Standing not too far away from them, Freya watched as the police led the two away while touching her nose and smiling smugly.

"You fools shouldn't have messed with me!" she thought to herself.

Freya left the shopping center hastily, humming and singing as she carried her new wardrobe and footwear.

She tried to reach Frederick, but no one answered the phone.

Concerned, she placed a call to Bradley.

The call connected after a few chirps, but an urgent voice could be heard on the other end. "Mr. Austin, what happened?"

"Please bring a doctor here now..." Freya recognized Rosa's voice and worried about Bradley after she realized he wasn't responding.

Immediately, she called a cab and returned hastily to the Royal Garden Mansion. A doctor was rushing up the stairs as she entered the house.

"Rosa, what happened to Mr. Austin?" When Rosa came down the stairs, Freya came up to her worriedly.

Rosa's expression turned grave as she responded with anxiety, "Mr. Austin suddenly experienced a severe headache and went into shock. It was terrifying."

After hearing this, Freya rushed upstairs to find two doctors frantically attempting to revive Bradley in his bedroom.

As Frederick turned around, he caught sight of her. His face betrayed the sudden pang of regret at his memory of abandoning her at the shopping center. Apologetically, he told Mrs. Smith, "I'm sorry, I didn't hear your call."

"It's alright. I took a taxi back myself," Freya replied calmly.

Glancing over at Bradley lying on the bed, Freya could clearly see that he had once again hit his head against the wall, with dried blood marks on his face that hadn't been properly cleaned.

Bradley had his eyes closed, but his fists remained tightly clenched.

From experience, Freya understood that he must have been in immense pain during these episodes, where his behavior was not under his control, and he would engage in self-destructive acts.

Freya sensed that Bradley had undergone some sort of traumatic experience, and deep inner turmoil seemed to be consuming him. This could be connected to his past traumas, which caused his PTSD.

"Frederick, is Mr. Austin alright?" Freya asked with genuine concern, her lips pressed together.

Xavier, who was attending to Bradley, turned around and was visibly shocked as he laid eyes on Freya's face.
