Chapter 26 Fall Into Her Trap

"Is this the new bride that Bradley married? She's as gorgeous as a fairy. No wonder he was in such a rush to leave last night! Who could say no to such a beautiful woman? It's just a shame that she's not so smart. What a pity!" Xavier thought to himself.

"Don't worry, Bradley will wake up in no time," Xavier said with a smile.

Freya looked at him nervously and asked, "Can I see him?"

"Of course," Xavier replied, stepping aside to give her space.

Freya approached Bradley and gently held his wrist, sensing a slightly unstable pulse but feeling reassured that he was in stable condition.

She heaved a sigh of relief and opened her hand to release his when she felt herself being pulled towards Bradley by an unseen force.

She finally fell on his chest.

Coughing awkwardly, Xavier interjected, "Bradley, it seems you're really fine now. I have to get going. But as a friend, I feel obligated to remind you that you're still weak and shouldn't exert yourself too much."

Freya blushed upon hearing his words.

Bradley coldly uttered a single word, "Leave." Then, he tightly embraced Freya, and to his surprise, the unease in his heart unexpectedly subsided.

He felt a strange sense of calm and safety in her company. Maybe it was because she was intellectually inferior to him and didn't try to play any mind games with him.

Freya was being held close to him by Bradley, her face pressed against his open chest. She could catch a hint of his minty scent and hear his strong heartbeat.

Her face flushed scarlet in an instant.

Bradley sat up and held her tightly as she struggled to free herself. His voice was smooth and deep as he asked, "Did you buy any clothes?"

His deep voice seemed almost heavenly to Freya, causing her to foolishly smile as she replied, "I bought shoes, clothes, and even two shirts for Mr. Austin."

Freya stood up as she spoke, drew Bradley in closer, and opened one of the shopping bags to reveal a shirt she was waving at him. "I decided to get black ones because it seems Mr. Austin prefers that color."

Freya beamed with delight, as she couldn't be more pleased.

After all, she finally avenged herself on Ethan, and her satisfaction was immense.

Bradley looked at the shirt in her hand, realizing it was from the brand he usually wore, each worth tens of thousands of dollars. He didn't expect this seemingly foolish girl to know how to choose shirts for him.

However, Bradley hadn't received any bank notifications regarding the purchases.

His eyes narrowed as he asked her, "How did you pay for them?"

Freya knew Bradley would ask questions, so she wasn't going to try to keep anything from him.

With an innocent giggle, she played dumb and confessed, "I didn't use Mr. Austin's credit card. Ethan and Lola happened to be at the mall, and they helped me pay."

Upon hearing that Ethan had helped Freya pay for the items, Bradley furrowed his brow.

He recalled how Frederick had punished Ethan before and knew that his nephew must harbor a vengeful temper toward Freya. It puzzled Bradley that Ethan would not seek revenge on Freya but instead helped her foot the bill.

"Did he bully you?" Bradley asked, concerned.

Freya pursed her lips and replied with a hint of grievance, "He called me a fool and insulted Mr. Austin. So, I retaliated by knocking over all the clothes racks in the store. The store owner then asked Ethan to compensate."

After hearing this, Ethan gave a small chuckle and was about to ask more questions when his phone began to ring on the nightstand.

Freya picked it up and handed it to Bradley, who answered the call.

"Bradley, what do you mean by this?" Arthur's voice came through the phone.

Bradley's expression instantly darkened. It was a call from Arthur, and he coldly replied, "That's a question I should be asking you."

"Hmph, how dare you ask me? Let me tell you, your wife got Ethan arrested and scammed him out of over two million dollars. How do you propose we resolve this conflict?" Arthur's voice had a hint of hostility.

Bradley cast a suspicious glance at Freya. "Is it possible that Ethan really covered everything she bought today? And not only that, but she had also sent Ethan to the police station?"He thought, finding this situation intriguing.

"You must be joking. Freya is intellectually challenged. How could she possibly do something like that?" Bradley's voice turned cold, void of any emotions.

"Ask your wife for the answer. Arthur snapped back, "If you don't explain this to me, you know the consequences."

Bradley started to care about the situation. After he put down the phone, he reached out to touch Freya on the cheek.

"So, you took Ethan to the police station?"

Freya looked up, trembling like a small rabbit that had just been startled. Her eyes watered as she cried out, "It wasn't me. He didn't pay for the money, so the store owners called the police."

Freya looked lovely and alluring right then, with her long eyelashes fluttering and tears in her eyes.

Bradley's heart softened, and he couldn't help but embrace her tenderly. "Don't be afraid. I'm here. No one can hurt you."

Freya intended to act naive to gain Bradley's pity, but she was caught off guard by his loving embrace.

Bradley's shoulders were broad, and his chest was strong, giving off a sense of security. Her nose picked up a hint of mint from the air.

"Oh...Did I cause you any trouble? Is everyone upset with Mr. Austin?" Freya's voice quivered as she lowered her head, looking as if she had made a grave mistake.

Bradley took in her frail form and assured her, "It's okay, I will handle it." as he tenderly ran his fingers through her supple hair.

"Just give the clothes back to them if they get mad," Freya bit her lower lip and said, "I don't want them anymore."

With a slight grin, Bradley said, "Once you buy it, it's yours. You don't have to send them back."

Bradley then drew her into an affectionate embrace, holding her tightly but with some uncertainty in his eyes.

Although Ethan wasn't exceptionally bright, he was not dumb.

However, a normal individual, Ethan was deceived by someone who seemed intellectually challenged. Bradley's gaze towards Freya became filled with suspicion, causing him to question whether her intellectual disability was merely an act.

While that was happening, Arthur and Bruce went to the station to post bail for Ethan and Lola in person. Naturally, they needed to pay off the bills first.

Ethan stormed out of the station and questioned Bruce and Lola Lawson, "Bruce, Lola, tell me, is Freya really a fool?"

Bruce replied, "Yes, she is a fool," before feigning a smile. "When Freya was twelve, she became ill. Upon recovering, she found herself mentally handicapped. She has always been this way. Is something wrong, Ethan? "

Ethan's anger got the best of him, and he kicked the wall with all his might. He couldn't believe a dummy had duped him. It broke his heart to consider losing so much money.

Similarly, Arthur was consumed by anger and slapped Ethan across the face. "You useless fool! You couldn't even defeat someone who appears mentally disabled. How did I end up having a son as stupid as you?"

Lola spoke in a defensive tone to protect her boyfriend, saying, "Mr. Austin, we can't explain what happened to Freya. Suddenly, she became cunning."

Freya spread the false claim that Ethan was her boyfriend to let him pay for all the things she bought.

Lola could have stocked her closet with this sum of money.

The crucial point was that she asked Ethan to take her shopping in the first place, but she didn't make any purchases herself.

Ethan had spent all his money to pay for Freya, which made Lola extremely resentful.
