Hearing the names "HealWell Clinic" and "renowned doctor Lexi," Bradley's eyes narrowed, and his hands clenched. His relaxed posture on the couch belied his tall, erect stature.
He had heard that Dr. Lexi was an excellent doctor and that many of her critically ill patients had fully recovered thanks to her care.
Bradley had been looking for her for years, hoping she could perform a craniotomy on him and remove a blood clot from his brain for quite some time. However, Lexi announced her retirement a few years ago, and despite his best efforts, he could not get in touch with her.
He was surprised when he found out Lexi would be attending the HealWell Clinic's ribbon-cutting ceremony opening.
"Lexi is known as the 'miracle doctor.' If she can perform the craniotomy, you can stop taking medication to manage your condition," said Xavier. Although Xavier had extensive medical training, he lacked expertise in performing craniotomies.
Over the years, Bradley had seen improvements in his legs and appearance, but his chronic headaches persisted as a constant challenge.
Lexi, a talented doctor in the field, was skilled in acupuncture and craniotomy surgery. If they could meet Lexi at the opening of the HealWell Clinic, there was hope for Bradley's illness.
Without hesitation, Patrick exclaimed, "Well, what are we waiting for? I'll go to the HealWell Clinic right away!" He patted his thigh, stood up, and made his way out.
...
At 10 o'clock in the morning, Freya arrived at the HealWell Clinic.
Freya stepped out of the car and looked towards the clinic. Delicate flowers were arranged at the entrance, giving off a fresh and inviting vibe, while Abby and a group of staff members were waiting outside.
It was clear that they were anticipating Freya's arrival.
Freya sent a text message to Abby: "Look up. I'm fifty meters in front of you. Act like you don't know me."
After reading the message, Abby looked up and spotted Freya standing nearby, accompanied by a few bodyguards from the Royal Garden Mansion.
Abby remarked, "It seems Bradley holds you in high regard. He asked so many people to keep a close eye on you."
Freya showed a resigned expression.
She believed Bradley wasn’t going through all this because he cherished her. Instead, he did this because he thought she was not smart enough.
His actions were driven by his fear of the Austin family seeking revenge for her previous "misstep" during her last visit home.
"Frederick, I’d like to buy some medicine there. You don't have to follow me." Freya said as she walked towards the clinic.
Although she couldn't personally perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony as the behind-the-scenes owner of the clinic, she wanted to witness this significant moment.
Freya had amassed a sizeable fortune from her many successful medical practices over the years, and she was able to establish her own successful clinic business thanks to this windfall. As a result, she no longer personally attended to patients.
The clinic's revenues were enough for her to live a comfortable life, and she had hired top doctors and pharmacists. The HealWell Clinic quickly gained fame, with branches established across the country.
Freya moved forward, accompanied by Frederick and the bodyguards. She couldn't go about her day as she pleased because she was being followed so closely.
Freya had told them they didn't need to follow, but they couldn't afford to be careless.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony began promptly at 10 o'clock.
As Abby saw Freya surrounded by security, she felt compelled to step in herself.
After the ribbon was cut, the HealWell Clinic was officially open for business.
On its first day of operation, the HealWell Clinic offered steep discounts, bringing in a large number of new patients. Within the first half hour, a sizable line had already formed outside the door.
Freya claimed she needed medicine and went into the clinic without Frederick or the guards, who waited outside.
"Freya, I rarely get the chance to see you," Abby said with a helpless expression as she led Freya into the lounge.
As the boss, Freya should be the one who handled ribbon-cutting ceremonies. However, Abby always ended up taking care of things for her instead.
Freya was always too preoccupied before. Now that she was staying at the Royal Garden Mansion, the two girls even needed to meet secretly.
Freya adjusted her hair and asked, "So, why did you urgently ask me to see you? It can't just be about the ribbon-cutting ceremony, right?"
"Freya, you're so smart," Abby replied, blinking as she handed Freya a document from the side. "This is a list of people who have requested appointments with you for treatment in the past two years. I have declined most of them on your behalf, but there's one patient left that you have to decide how to handle."
Freya quickly skimmed through the thick document, which resembled a heavy book because it was over a hundred pages long. Frowning, she flipped to the last page and saw a circled name at the bottom.
"Bradley Austin?"
Abby nodded. "Yes, that's right. It's your husband. For the past two years, he's been trying to get in touch with me so he can hire you to perform cranial surgery on him. I kept putting it off, but since your relationship with him is so complicated, you'll have to decide how to deal with it."
Freya knew very well that Bradley had a clot in his brain and that surgery to remove it would be extremely risky. She had previously considered a craniotomy but opted for conservative treatment instead, After all, dealing with his blood clot accumulation was too tricky for her. Even a slight mistake could almost certainly kill him or leave him with permanent brain damage.
"Let's set that aside for the time being. I'm going to try acupuncture on him for a while and see what happens. " Freya put the paper away, squinting as she reflected on Bradley's behavior when he had an attack.
He would get agitated and hostile and sometimes resort to self-injury. The image of him lying in a pool of blood that day stirred feelings of pity in her, and she wanted to do anything she could to alleviate the suffering caused by his illness.
Bradley had always treated her kindly and always protected her. Based on that alone, Freya felt compelled to help him.
"Freya, you pretend to be intellectually challenged in front of him, don’t you? If you treat him, won't it expose your medical skills?" Abby arched an eyebrow as she asked with interest, crossed her slim legs gracefully, and folded her arms.
Freya pursed her lips and replied, "I'll do it at night so he won't notice."
"You had already slept with him?"
"No." Freya's cheeks burned with embarrassment. Although they haven't reached the final stage, they have engaged in nearly all other intimate activities."Why are you blushing if nothing is going on?" Abby sneered, showing a clear interest in learning more.
"It's really nothing," Freya replied, not wanting to delve any further into the topic.
She knew she couldn't be with Bradley. She planned to repay his kindness by curing his headaches after avenging her mother. But after that, their relationship would cease to exist.
"Well, I heard that Bradley is disabled and might also be impotent," Abby smirked at her.
Freya's lips twitched at Abby's words. She couldn't help but wonder if that was the case, then who the person was that had pinned her down on the bed multiple time and even got erected. His stamina was impressive; if he wasn't blind, he could easily be mistaken for a voyeuristic pervert.
Freya recalled how he would often enter her room without knocking, his blind eyes somehow peering at her body, making her uncomfortable.
Abby looked at her absentmindedly and added, "By the way, now that you're living in the Royal Garden Mansion, what are your plans next?"
Freya had always suspected that her mother's death was not an accident. She had been investigating the matter for the past seven years, and all the evidence pointed toward the Lawson family.
This time, she married Bradley to seek justice for her mother and reclaim what rightly belonged to her.
