Bradley's cold eyes narrowed as he casually leaned against the wall in a languid yet proud manner. The top two buttons of his black shirt had somehow come undone, revealing a large swathe of tanned skin. His lips were curled upward in a teasing smile that made him look very much like a mysterious yet arrogant war god who was both bold and noble.
Just when Freya thought he would not answer her, he suddenly spoke up.
"Yes. It's a deep-seated blood feud."
Freya smiled. Just as I thought.
"In that case, do you want to give the Austins a treat for now?" she asked.
His dark eyes were locked onto her face as though his gaze could pierce through her.
"Are you trying to stand up for me?"
Freya smiled and flicked her hair as she gently replied, "In a way, yes. I'm only doing it for Bradley. The Austins are horrible toward him and keep bullying him. I wanted to seize the chance to teach them a lesson as a way to make up for what they've done to him."
Bradley somehow felt like something had struck his heart upon hearing that. A strange warmth spread through him from head to toe. He crossed his arms, but his body was trembling over what he just heard.
She wanted to stand up for him.
Before he could say anything, someone among the crowd cried out, "The doctors are coming!"
Several doctors were soon walking into the hall.
The impatient crowd swarmed toward the doctors.
Freya did not move. She already knew the results, so she did not want to join in the commotion.
The huge screen in the hall suddenly lit up with a report that clearly stated that while Lola was pregnant, it was only two weeks into the pregnancy.
There was a moment of silence before the tension in the air exploded.
The evening Lola spoke of happened a month ago. If that was the case, she would have been almost a month pregnant. However, the report now stated she was only two weeks into her pregnancy.
This all meant that she was lying!
The smug looks on Sophie's and Lola's faces instantly vanished, replaced by a pale look as they read the report.
"Mom, didn't you say the doctors were bribed? Why did this happen?" Lola demanded.
Her head was buzzing. She was doomed. Not only had she completely humiliated herself before the other socialites, but she was now the laughingstock of the city.
Ethan proudly stroked his chin and scoffed. "I knew it. How can the child be me? Lola, you've gone mad in your desire to marry me!"
The crowd had exploded into chatter. Everyone was now pointing and criticizing Lola. She had instantly become the butt of everyone's jokes.
"No, it's not like that! My baby really is Ethan's! This is a scheme against me!"
Lola knelt on the floor with her hands over her head, too afraid to look at the crowd.
The insults and jeers rang in her ears that left her too ashamed to show her face.
Freya coldly watched the event play out before turning to look at the man beside her. Bradley also looked at her, and their eyes met.
"Did you manipulate the test results as well?"
There was a deep look in his eyes. While he had expected this outcome, he was still stunned by the test report.
Freya blinked with long eyelashes that gently fanned across her cheeks.
"The original doctors were bribed by Sophie, so I found her new doctors and gave the crowd the truth."
"Then? Didn't you say you wanted to teach the Austins a lesson? What's your plan?" Bradley was suddenly eager to see the surprise she would give him.
His efforts to attend the party had not been in vain. He watched with his own eyes as she tormented the scum in their lives, and it gave her a new understanding of her character.
She was a smart and cunning woman who was not as simple as she seemed.
Freya chuckled and pointed at the screen. "Dun, dun, dun. Please look at the screen."
Bradley turned to look at the direction she pointed at and found that the screen had suddenly changed to display a video instead of a test report.
The feminine moans echoed through the hall while the video showed a screen too graphic for most people.
The guests were shocked. This was even more scandalous than Lola's test report.
The older of the crowd had to look away with wine glasses in hand as they could not bear the agitation that came from looking at the video.
A few seconds of silence later, the shocked crowd swiftly began chattering about the video with gleeful laughter and mocking remarks filling the air.
"Goodness, what did I just see? The Austins' heir really knows how to have fun. It's just a little too much for me."
"I didn't expect the heir to be so into it. He doesn't even care about his partner's age. That's a little too bold for me."
"I even heard that Ethan loves anything that gets the heart pumping. What he's doing now is nothing. There are probably worse things later on."
In high society, it was no uncommon for people to look down on others in order to elevate their standings.
Many individuals had sneakily pulled out their phones to record the video. Lola's pregnancy was now overshadowed by Ethan.
Ethan was frozen in place.
Arthur slapped him across the face and shouted, "You fool! You have humiliated the entire family!"
He the grabbed the microphone and angrily said into it, "No one is allowed to record this! Turn off the projector now!"
The Austins' bodyguards and the Lawson family's servants rushed to turn off the projector, but it had malfunctioned as it could not be turned off.
The screen kept playing different videos featuring the same man with different women, and none of the women ever appeared twice.
The video was about an hour long, and it was much more exciting than most movies. Many of the guests had to excuses themselves as they were unable to keep watching.
The reporters frantically crowded before the screen and took all the pictures they could. This would be a hot topic. How could they miss out on it?
Owen angrily slammed his cane against the ground and ordered, "Arthur, drag this sinful brat back home and punish him according to the family rules.
He then turned to bark at the bodyguards, "Destroy the projector!"
Around three or four of the men instantly kicked the projector, and the screen soon went dark.
The birthday banquet was meant to be a happy day where the Austins and Lawson family signed a contract to work together. In the end, the children had turned the event into a joke. Arthur glared at Bruce and instantly tore the contract into pieces in anger.
"How dare you, Bruce. I sincerely wanted to work with you. Who could have known that you would mess with my son? From now on, don't even think you can have a partnership with us again!"
Once he was done venting his anger, he ordered the bodyguards to take Ethan away. He usually did not care what the embarrassing brat did, but now he had been caught red-handed. Owen was also present. Once they were home, Owen would break Ethan's leg for this.
Even if Arthur wanted to protect Owen, there was nothing he could do.
