Chapter 89 Tea Ceremony and Toying with Lydia

The statement, "I trust her", caused the look in Freya's eyes to change. Bradley was always protecting her, making her unbelievably safe.

"What?"

Arthur and Lydia exclaimed upon hearing that.

Until now, Bradley had been wearing a pair of sunglasses. If he had not spoken up about it, no one would have known that he had regained his vision.

Perhaps Lydia realized her behavior had been a little too obvious as she hurriedly added, "That's great. You can finally live a normal life now."

"It's all thanks to you, Arthur and Lydia, for finding me a good wife. Freya is my lucky charm," Bradley said as he held Freya's hand with a faint smile on his lips.

Freya pulled back slightly, but he held tighter to her hand, not giving her a chance to pull back.

Their tiny interaction was observed by everyone in the room, and they looked like they were flirting instead.

Owen was overjoyed by the news. "Arthur, you have truly helped Bradley. Freya actually helped Bradley overcome his doomed fate and brought him good luck."

Arthur was extremely upset.

Why had Bradley suddenly regained his vision? Did the doctors not say he would never get better again?

All the nonsense about a doomed luck and being forever alone were just lies he made up. He had also meant to use a simple-minded wife to crush Bradley's spirit.

Who could have known that Freya was not a fool? Instead, she had joined forces with Bradley to fight back. Now, Bradley had regained his eyesight.

Arthur was now filled with regrets he could not speak of. All he could do was force a smile to his lips. "That's because Bradley is lucky. As his brother, I naturally want everything to go well for him."

"Judging by this, Bradley might soon be able to stand on his own two feet," Susan exclaimed, instantly causing Arthur and Lydia to go pale.

Stand on his own two feet?

No! He could not be allowed to stand up or their years of planning would have gone down the drain.

Bradley chuckled. "Thank you for the hope, Susan."

Freya had planned on causing a scene to anger Bradley so that she could get a divorce as soon as possible.

However, now that she saw how these people were scheming against him, she faltered.

If she did that to him now, it would be truly inhumane.

Just as she thought that, Lydia spoke once more. "Since you're recovered, Bradley, I have something to remind you of. You're not completely back to full health yet, and Freya is a beautiful woman. You should keep a close eye on her."

Her reminder kept hinting at how Freya would be unfaithful and cheat on him.

"No need to worry, Lydia. We're legally married now," Bradley casually responded with raised eyebrows.

It was only then that everyone noticed the diamond ring on Freya's finger. It was the one and only "Ethereal Star".

Lydia was completely taken aback.

She had wanted this diamond ring for a long time, constantly nagging Arthur to buy it for her. However, that ungrateful husband of hers refused, claiming it was a waste to spend so much money on a large diamond that was not even practical.

She had not expected the ring to appear on Freya's finger.

Why was Freya so lucky? She actually made Bradley devoted to her, enough that he would even buy her "Ethereal Star", a ring worth millions.

Lydia was filled with envy and resentment. What was the use of marrying a normal man who only cared about himself? She would be better off marrying a cripple who loved his wife.

"Freya, since you're married, shouldn't we go through the usual tea ceremony?"

The smile on Lydia's face did not reach her eyes. Just wait. I'll have the last laugh yet.

According to a family rule, every new bride had to undergo a tea ceremony where she would serve tea to all her elders. As soon as Lydia mentioned it, the servants stepped forward with the tea and cups.

Freya glanced at Bradley and only stepped forward to serve the others tea after he nodded to her.

"D-Dad, have some tea."

It felt extremely awkward to call a man old enough to be her grandfather "dad".

"Very good." Owen had the servants bring him the money gift he had prepared before handing it to her. "Focus on getting along with Bradley. We will never mistreat you."

Freya glanced at Bradley and only accepted the gift after he nodded in response.

The second round of tea was meant for Arthur and Lydia. Just as she approached them with the cups, Lydia suddenly stretched her leg out, causing Freya to lose her grip on the cups.

Just then, Freya held her foot up so that the teacup would fall on the tip of her foot. Then, as if she was playing with a ball, she kicked it up, causing it to empty its contents on Lydia.

"Aah!"

Lydia screeched and jumped up from the pain of the heat. "Freya, what are you doing?"

"I'm playing with a ball," Freya said, looking at her with a blank look in her eyes.

Lydia was so angry that she wanted to slap Freya across the face. A ball? Did Freya think Lydia was a fool?

Previously, she had instructed the servants to make the tea extra hot so that she could show Freya just who was in charge around the house. She had not expected the tea to end up all over her. The tea was so hot that her skin was red from the pain.

She furiously turned to Owen and whined, "Dad, Freya did that on purpose. How can she play ball during a tea ceremony? Even if her mind is simple, she should know the difference between a ball and a teacup. Look at how badly she has burned me."

Freya stood still and hung her head low like a kid who realized they had done something wrong.

"Lydia kicked me just now, so I thought I could pick the cup back up by kicking it…"

Bradley silently watched her without saying a single word. He had wanted to intervene, but she had instead played Lydia for a fool.

Play ball...

What an interesting bride I have.

"Nonsense!" Lydia had not expected Freya to openly accuse her. Her face had turned red with anger. "I was just stretching my leg because it was sore. I didn't know you would bump into me."

"What great timing you have, Lydia, to stretch your leg out while Freya was going to serve you tea," Bradley's eyes were dark as he spoke in an icy tone of voice. "If Freya didn't know to play ball, then the tea would have landed on her instead, right?"

"Enough, Bradley. It's just a misunderstanding. No need to be so petty." Arthur's face darkened as well for he also saw that Lydia had intentionally tried to trip Freya.

He had not expected Freya to strike back and play Lydia for a fool though.

He was now filled with remorse. It was hard enough to deal with Bradley all on his own, but now Bradley had a smart woman by his side. Arthur had shot himself in the foot.

No way. He had to find a way to kill Freya off first. She could not be allowed to ruin his plans.

"Since it's just a misunderstanding, let's end this here."

Owen might be old, but he had a sharp mind. He knew exactly what had happened.

Lydia did not want to just end things then and there. There was no way she would ever forgive or forget Freya for toying with her.

Due to the unpleasant turn of events, Bradley did not want to stay any longer. He soon told Owen that he would be taking Freya out for a walk.
