Chapter 129 Manipulating Discord

"Lola has gone mad. What did you do to her last night?"

The man's warm breath brushed against her earlobe. Freya leaned against his strong and warm chest, her heart beating uncontrollably. She struggled a bit uncomfortably, but he held her tighter.

"Not much, just scared her with a ghost mask. Who knew she couldn't handle it and went crazy."

"No wonder there was so much noise last night. You're quite cunning to think of such a tactic."

As he spoke, Bradley turned her body around and pinched her petite nose. "But you could have let someone else do such things. The basement is not suitable for you."

"I'm not as timid as Lola. Also, I'm not afraid of snakes, let alone a few mice. It wouldn't scare me!" Freya grinned mischievously. "You didn't see how Lola was crying like that, worse than a ghost! But it's her own fault. If she hadn't done anything wrong, she wouldn't be afraid of ghosts knocking at her door in the middle of the night."

"Besides scaring her, did you get any other gains?"

Whether intentionally or unintentionally, his lips lightly brushed against her ear, sending a shiver down Freya's spine.

"Yes, I recorded her words. She admitted that Herbie Jenkins, who killed my mother, was Sophie's personal bodyguard. But after the incident, Herbie was sent away by Sophie, and Lola doesn't know where he is."

Freya's heart couldn't control its beating, especially with him so close to her, her breath becoming somewhat erratic.

"Okay, I'll follow up on this clue. I'll let you know as soon as I have any news."

"Okay, I have to go out for a while. After I finish my business, I'll return to Royal Garden Mansion by myself. You can go to the company first, don't worry about me."

Freya couldn't escape, so she ceased resisting. She reasoned that he would release her once he was satisfied. What mattered most was that she realized she was becoming more and more enamored with his surprising closeness.

"What are you going to do?" Bradley blurted out.

Freya furrowed her brows and raised her gaze to meet his. "Bradley, you assured me you wouldn't meddle in my matters. I trust you'll honor your word. While I agreed to work with you, you haven't earned the right to intrude on my privacy. If you persist, our agreement will be nullified, and I'll leave!"

With that, she pushed him away forcefully, grabbed her bag from the side, and left.

Bradley watched her departing figure with deep dark eyes. He then immediately made a phone call.

"Madam has left Royal Garden Mansion. Keep an eye on her every move!"

"Yes, Mr. Bradley!"

Bradley hung up the phone, pinched his brow, feeling that since their relationship had soured, she had become increasingly distant from him. Even now, when he asked her to do something, she would stubbornly threaten to leave.

He couldn't control her anymore. In the past, it was easy to deceive her when she was naive, but now that she wasn't, he seemed to be struggling to keep up with her.

Bradley felt a bit of a headache. Perhaps he was wrong in the way he pursued her?

After some thought, he called Frederick and said, "Go to the flower shop and buy a bouquet. I'll be back earlier tonight and have dinner with the madam!"

Frederick was stunned.

Buy flowers?

Have dinner together? Was it a candlelit dinner?

Once Frederick understood, a smile crept onto his lips. It seemed that Mr. Bradley had really had a change of heart and was preparing to pursue the madam.

When Lola was sent back to the Lawson family, the Lawson family villa was caught in a storm.

Bruce's face was grim. He slapped Sophie hard across the face and roared angrily.

"You wretch, confess honestly. How did Charlotte actually die? If you dare to deceive me, I'll kill you today."

"Bruce, Charlotte died in a car accident. Aren't you aware of this? Besides, the police have already closed the case, concluding it as an accident. Don't allow Freya's remarks to cloud your judgment. She simply can't bear to see us having a good relationship and is trying to create discord between us."

Sophie, disheveled, knelt on the ground, crying bitterly. "Freya, that wench. What is she plotting after pretending to be stupid for seven years? Isn't it all because she resents you for driving Charlotte out of the house back then? She wants to ruin our relationship and avenge Charlotte."

"I don't buy your nonsense!" Bruce was shaking with anger. He shouted sternly, "Don't think I don't know that you bribed someone to make this matter go away. Sophie, you'd better tell the truth. Otherwise, things will get ugly, and you'll pay the price."

Sophie glared at the man, finally dropping the pretense. Through gritted teeth, she said, "Yes, I paid someone to run her over. But didn't I do it for you? If Charlotte hadn't died, how could you have received such a huge compensation? Your company would have gone bankrupt long ago."

"It was with this money that I saved you. Do you not realize this? Not only did you not appreciate it, you also hit me? Bruce, what have I gained from marrying you all these years? Apart from enduring your drunken beatings time and time again, have you given me a single good day?

You probably don't know that when you and Charlotte were deeply in love, she took out an insurance policy, with you as the sole beneficiary. Upon learning of your affair with me, Charlotte had been working to change the beneficiary. Had I not acted promptly and killed her, the huge compensation would have ended up in Freya's hands, along with Charlotte's shares, which would never have belonged to you, Bruce."

At this point, she had nothing more to hide. Bruce had gone mad lately, subjecting her to various forms of domestic violence. She couldn't take it anymore.

Sophie harbored deep hatred. How could she have been so blind as to fall for him in the first place? She had become his punching bag.

Meanwhile, Wilson Williams was just as unreliable. He had promised to divorce his wife and marry her, but to this day, he hadn't done a thing.

She had to hasten his divorce and then transfer the property under Bruce's name before ditching this waste of a man!

Bruce had no idea what she was plotting. Upon hearing her words, he stood frozen in place.

"Charlotte took out an insurance policy? Why didn't I know about it?"

Sophie sneered. "That's because she hadn't found the opportunity to tell you yet, and you were already having an affair! If I hadn't accidentally overheard her calling the insurance company and taken action to ruin her, you wouldn't be where you are today!"

Bruce stared coldly at Sophie. "I'll ask you again, did Charlotte cheat on me back then?"

This had been a question that had puzzled him for years. Charlotte had loved him passionately. She had been willing to sever ties with her family to marry him, a poor man. But when he reached the peak of his career, she chose to betray him.

Bruce remained incredulous that Charlotte could commit such an act.

Back then, he had driven her out in a fit of anger, but he regretted it afterward. Sophie was nothing but a spendthrift who squandered money left and right, nearly driving him to bankruptcy.

But Charlotte was different. She was shrewd in business, and Lawson's success today was all thanks to Charlotte's efforts!
