"So, are you starting to be interested in me with that intense gaze?" Bradley's slender fingers gently lifted her chin, his eyes sparkling with interest.
"Not at all, I'm just a bit curious. Whether you want to talk or not, it's up to you!" Freya pushed away his hand. With so many people around, she didn't like this kind of intimacy.
Bradley chuckled as he noticed her ears turning red. "Once I help you catch Herbie, how do you plan to repay me?"
"How do you want to be repaid?" Freya saw him completely ignoring the presence of others. He continued flirting with her, making her face blush even more.
Feeling upbeat, Bradley smiled as he took her hand and wrote something on her palm.
There was a slight roughness in his fingertips that gave a strange sensation as they moved, making Freya feel uncomfortable.
But she could still clearly feel the words the man wrote.
'Marry me!'
Her already red and hot face reddened a few more degrees, and her palms also started to heat up.
So this guy was always lusting after her body.
While the two were joking around, Mr. Zoller returned, his expression clearly didn't look good.
"Mr. Bradley, it seems that I can't hand him over to you."
"What do you mean? Don't you want to do business anymore, Mr. Zoller?" Bradley toned down the tenderness he had just shown, his gaze at Mr. Zoller now filled with coldness.
Mr. Zoller wiped off his cold sweat, saying, "Herbie has run away! My men informed me that he hasn't been to the casino these past few days, and when we sent someone to his house just now, it was already empty."
Ran away?
Empty house?
Freya clenched her fists. It seemed that they were a step too late.
She should have anticipated it earlier. When she confronted Sophie that day, Sophie would definitely take action. Freya just didn't expect this woman to be so cunning and swift.
"Where does Herbie live? Give me the address!" Freya's voice was cold, showing no less determination than Bradley.
Mr. Zoller immediately told his bodyguard to write down the address. Freya glanced at it and then grabbed Bradley, ready to leave.
"Mr. Bradley, about those goods… "
Bradley paused, turned around, and gave Mr. Zoller a warning glance. "The cooperation depends on whether your sincerity is significant enough!"
Bradley echoed the same words back to Mr. Zoller, making his face look unpleasant.
After the two left, he shouted at the bodyguards, "What are you waiting for? Search high and low, we must find Herbie no matter what."
….
Walking out of the casino.
Ella and James came over. "How did it go? Did you find him?"
"He escaped," Freya replied, feeling irritated. They had finally found out where Herbie was hiding, only to have him escape.
"Don't worry, let's go check his place. Maybe we'll find some clues there," Bradley said, noticing her mood wasn't great. He held her hand, offering her some comfort.
Freya smiled at him. "Let's hurry up. I'm worried there might be other unexpected things happen."
Herbie's escape probably meant he got wind of the news beforehand. Freya was worried that Sophie might try to cover her tracks completely, which would cause even bigger trouble.
She remained silent throughout the journey, feeling overwhelmed by the thought of her mother's death.
Bradley didn't speak either, and the atmosphere in the car became eerily quiet.
Soon, the car stopped at Herbie's residence, which was an old residential house. The iron gate was peeling and rusted, indicating it had been there for quite a few years.
As they arrived at Herbie's house, it was exactly as Lord Dane had said, completely empty.
A middle-aged woman who had just come back from shopping passed by and Freya quickly approached her. "Excuse me, do you happen to know the residence of this house?"
The old lady glanced inside and said, "Everyone knows this family. There's a man with tattoos living here, quite temperamental. He often brings shady women over and caused trouble for many of us in the building."
The lady's face showed both hatred and fear when she mentioned Herbie, suggesting how much of a troublemaker he must have been around here.
"Well, do you happen to know where he went?" Freya asked again.
"I'm not sure about that. Yesterday, he brought a blonde woman home, and we haven't seen him around after that," the lady recalled. Then she remembered something else. "Oh, right! I passed by his house last night and overheard him on the phone, saying something about a ship leaving tomorrow evening from the Golden Harbor."
Upon hearing this, Freya politely thanked the old lady.
"Tomorrow, isn't that today?" James casually remarked.
"It seems that Herbie plans to leave from the Golden Harbor by ship. We must catch him before he leaves!"
Freya clenched her fists tightly, her palms sweating with nervousness. If Herbie escaped, she knew it would take a long time to track him down again.
Bradley remained calm and made a phone call. "Find out everything about the ships departing from Golden Harbor in the evening and delay them until we get there."
...
The four got into the car, with James still at the wheel and Ella sitting in the driver's seat. Bradley and Freya sat in the back.
Along the way, Bradley received another call, getting updates from the person he had sent out."
"Boss, we've found out that a ship is scheduled to depart at 6:30 in the evening."
"I need to make sure if Herbie is on board and where the ship is heading." Bradley was always cautious, and not tolerating any mistakes. He needed to confirm the next target and take down Herbie from all angles.
"I asked the other crew members. They said the ship is heading to Blackstone Island but the captain refused to disclose whether Herbie is on board."
"Got it. Keep delaying the sailing time. We'll be there soon."
"I'm afraid we can't hold them much longer. Most of the crew are local drug traffickers with high tempers. They've already started cursing and complaining. I'm worried the captain won't be able to handle the pressure and leave early."
"How much longer can you keep them at bay?" Bradley pinched his brow. "Even if I drive at 200 miles per hour, it'll still take fifteen minutes. Keep stalling as long as you can. If you can't hold them off any longer, board the ship first. We'll meet at Blackwood Island."
"Fifteen minutes at most, Boss. You better hurry. The crew has started going wild and attacking the captain. At this rate, I doubt I can hold on for even a minute!"
"Okay, I'll rush over there right away." Bradley hung up the phone and looked at James. "You pull over at the next intersection. I'll take the wheel. Ella and Freya, switch seats."
When it came to driving skills, James indeed wasn't as good as himself. At this speed, it wouldn't be a twenty-minute journey, maybe not even thirty minutes.
James followed his instructions and parked the car at the front. Bradley and Freya took their respective seats in the driver's and passenger's seat and the car dashed off at a speed of 200 miles per hour.
