The group of salespersons paid no heed to Jinny's presence, all fawning over Freya with obsequious smiles.
"Madam, today we will serve you only."
"It is okay, Miss Austin is also my niece. Let her pick as well." Freya raised an eyebrow, a cold smirk playing on her lips, as she tried on the necklace in front of the mirror.
Just then, seizing the opportune moment, Lola, who had been waiting, suddenly lunged at her, in a mad frenzy.
Freya, ever vigilant, spotted her in the mirror and deftly sidestepped the attack with a smile.
But Lola couldn't stop herself in time and crashed into the mirror, letting out a loud scream.
Freya crossed her arms and stared coldly at her. "Lola, shouldn't you be at the psychiatric hospital? Why are you out here to frighten people?"
Lola glared at her, teeth clenched so tightly they seemed ready to shatter.
But soon, she resumed her facade of madness and pounced at Freya again. "Your clothes are so pretty, Lola wants to wear them too."
However, before she could get close, Freya grabbed her wrist and gave it a gentle twist, causing Lola's face to contort in agony.
Freya leaned in close and whispered, "Lola, it is time to stop this joke. You’re embarrassing yourself."
Earlier, Freya had thought she was truly insane. But not long ago Madeline had told her about Lola's questionable relationship with an old man at a hotel. That's when Freya realized Lola was just putting on an act.
With the Lawson family's downfall and the recent tumultuous events, Freya had no time to deal with Lola, but she hadn't expected her to show up at her doorstep today.
Embarrassed, Lola lifted her head arrogantly and sneered, "So what if I'm pretending? You also played dumb and fooled everyone back then."
"If I were you, I'd keep pretending, bide my time, and wait for an opportunity to turn the tables. But alas, women like you, devoid of intelligence, are only fit to be trampled underfoot for life."
Freya smirked sarcastically, repositioning the necklace around her neck.
The salespeople gathered around, offering flattery. "Madam, this necklace suits your temperament perfectly. The president mentioned that you prefer understated elegant designs, so he specifically instructed Vivian to cater to your preference. The president is truly considerate of you."
Though it was flattery, but Freya took pleasure in hearing it, as the necklace was a gift from Bradley. He had personally named it.
Eternal Love.
He had chosen this way to indirectly express his love to her!
Freya admired herself in the mirror, her fair skin and seductive collarbones accentuated by the necklace, exuding a subtle yet profound beauty.
She delicately traced her fingers over the necklace, a faint smile playing on her lips.
Already stunning, her smile enhanced her allure, prompting the salespeople to shower her with more flattery comments.
"Madam, the president may not have mentioned it to you, but this set of jewellery is worth one hundred million dollars."
One hundred million?
Lola's eyes nearly popped out of her head upon hearing this. When the Austin family hired them, they were only given forty million dollars as dowry, plus a one hundred million dollars contract, which ultimately did not fall through.
Now, Bradley casually gifted her stepsister a set of jewellery worth one hundred billion dollars, which seemed excessively lavish.
If only she had known Bradley was so wealthy and so generous with his wife, she would have married him no matter how ugly or disabled he pretended to be. It was still better than the old man she had ended up with now.
Jinny was equally envious and resentful, her teeth grinding with jealousy. Bradley was just an adopted son, yet their grandfather favoured him excessively. Not only did he entrust the company to him, but he also bestowed upon him such immense wealth.
He had been bedridden for seven years, relying entirely on the support of the Austin family since he couldn't work. Jinny was certain that their grandfather had handed over all the family's assets to Bradley.
Jinny seethed with a mixture of hatred and envy. She was also a child of the Austin family, but their grandfather had never been so generous to her. He would even freeze her and her brother's cards at the slightest provocation.
Now, he was allowing Bradley to squander their family's fortune at will. She couldn't understand it— who was the true descendant of the Austin family?
Watching Freya being adored, wearing jewellery worth hundred millions, made both Lola and Jinny burn with jealousy.
"Jinny, we have to find a way to teach her a lesson." Lola said, still nursing a large bruise on her forehead from the collision earlier. She now wished she could kill Freya.
Jinny, equally envious and resentful, clenched her fists in frustration. "But what do you propose we do?"
As a legitimate descendant of the Austin family, she had been left out in the cold, while a mere adopted son's wife flaunted the family's wealth openly and even dared to provoke her. Jinny was seething with anger, her teeth grinding.
Lola leaned close and whispered something in her ear, and Jinny's smile grew wider.
"Well done, Lola, you're smart!"
Not far away, Freya observed their clandestine conversation with a raised eyebrow and a faint smile, as she continued to try on the earrings.
Just then, Jinny approached her with a changed demeanour, abandoning her earlier haughty stance and smiling at Freya.
"Aunt Freya, it might be inconvenient for you to put them on yourself. Shall I help you?"
Freya glanced at her and gave her a coldly mocking smile. "No need to trouble yourself, Miss Austin. Your delicate hands are not suited for serving others."
Jinny's plan had failed, so she discreetly shot Lola a glance.
Their initial plan had been for Jinny to distract Freya while Lola plant a jade bangle into Freya's purse, making it appear as though she stole the piece.
But now it seemed like dealing with this woman wouldn't be so easy.
Anticipating Freya's vigilance, Lola had signaled Jinny to execute their backup plan.
Jinny understood, so she pretended to be interested in the jewellery while surreptitiously casting glances at Freya.
Today, Freya was wearing a sleeveless white dress and carrying a sling bag. It wouldn't be easy to slip jewellery into her bag. Their only chance now was the coat that a salesperson was holding to.
Jinny deliberately approached the salesperson and commanded, "I fancy those earrings. Fetch them for me."
The salesperson politely smiled. "I'm sorry, Miss Austin, I'm helping the madam with her coat right now, so it's not convenient."
"I'll hold the coat for you." Jinny said, snatching it away without hesitation.
Freya witnessed the scene but made no move to stop them. If these two wanted to make fools of themselves, she would let them cry when they leave Splendor & Co..
The salesperson had no choice but to reluctantly fetch the earrings for Jinny. Seizing the opportunity, Lola approached and slipped the jade bangle into the coat pocket.
The plan seemed flawless, but in reality, it was riddled with loopholes. Freya shook her head helplessly.
Lola might be cheeky, but her intellect was indeed lacking in some aspects.
