This young luminary of the business world had once hidden behind a mask of ugliness, becoming the laughingstock of the entire city. But now, he stood as the most radiant presence, his handsome visage and graceful stature emitting an irresistible charm even in silence.
Yet, his gaze was icy, sending shivers down the spines of both Jinny and Lola.
Jinny bit her lip, her face contorted with resentment as she glared at Freya. "It must have been you who planted the earrings in my bag, deliberately framing me."
Freya sighed lightly. "Jinny, if you had just told me you liked those earrings, I might have considered asking my husband to have a pair made for you. But you chose to conspire with Lola to set me up. Now that things have escalated to this point, I can't help you anymore."
She feigned helplessness, running her fingers through her hair before continuing.
"The truth of the matter will become clear once we review the surveillance footage. But Jinny, Lola, let me offer you a word of advice: before scheming against others, consider your own capabilities first. Don't engage in such reckless endeavours."
Indeed, she had manipulated things just now. Having learned a few tricks during her time in the countryside, she had swiftly hidden the earrings in Jinny's bag when she returned her coat. At the same time, she had planted the jade bangle on Lola.
The salesperson quickly retrieved the surveillance footage, confirming that Jinny and Lola had orchestrated the entire charade. However, the footage did not capture how the bracelet and earrings ended up on them.
"Now that things are clear, we should call the police." Bradley said grimly. Upon receiving a call from Harry, he had rushed over, never expecting these two women to attempt to frame Freya for theft.
Originally, he had considered giving Jinny a way out, but now it seemed unnecessary.
"I didn't steal anything. You can't call the police." Jinny warned defiantly, clenching her fists as she faced the staff.
Lola knew she had fallen into Freya's trap. This cunning woman's methods were exceptionally clever. Pretending to be Charlotte Lawson had terrified her before, and later she had even orchestrated her mother's imprisonment, ultimately seizing control of the Lawson Corporation.
She had been playing dumb all along, pretending to be innocent, but secretly manipulating everyone around her.
"I won't call the police if you pay for the bangle." Freya suddenly felt that calling the police was meaningless. It would be better to see how these two women panicked over money.
Bradley sat beside her, quietly watching his wife's performance. This little wildcat had shown her claws, and the consequences would be severe.
Jinny's face turned pale. The jade bangle was Splendor & Co.'s most-treasured collection, of excellent quality and worth millions. She would not be able to afford it.
Ever since her parents fled and her brother was imprisoned, her grandfather had frozen several of her cards. If it weren't for Lola, she wouldn't have stepped foot in this place at all.
Jinny shifted all the blame onto Lola. "You pay for it since the bangle was found on you."
Lola gritted her teeth, glaring at Freya with intense hatred. She wished she could slash her face with a knife right now.
Though she had climbed into a wealthy man's favour, after accompanying him for so long, he had only given her a card with a limit of two hundred thousand dollars. This jade bangle was worth millions, more than she could afford even if she sold her life.
Furthermore, what did she has to do with such old-fashioned piece?
Freya chuckled lightly. "If you don't buy it, then we'll hand it over to the police. Stealing jewellery worth millions would surely land you both in prison for a few years."
Her casual remark made both women's faces to turn white.
"Lola, since you've hooked up with a benefactor, why not call him to come pay? After spending so many days with him, you should have earned at least a million by now." Freya said, looking at her without any expression.
Everyone's gaze toward Lola changed, even Jinny looked at her strangely.
So she had managed to get invitations to Cloudstone Corporation's events because she had a sugar daddy.
The staff looked at her with even more disdain. Freya had exposed Sophie Lawson's identity as 'Madame Seraphina' during the press conference. They hadn't expected that like mother, like daughter, the two of them had truly outdone themselves in shamelessness.
Lola stood still, clenching her fists tightly, her face flushed red as she screamed at Freya, "How did you know about this?"
"If you don't want people to know, don't do it." Freya shrugged, pulling out her phone and flashed a photo in front of her.
Lola's face turned dark.
Immediately, she lunged forward to snatch the phone, but before she could get close, she was kicked away by Bradley.
Lola screamed in pain, hating her to the bone, yet not daring to lay a hand on her. She feared that he would kill her.
How fiercely he protected Freya, she now realized.
Lola was filled with hatred. Why had her father been so blind when he brough this despicable woman back? Now they were all suffering because of her.
With Bradley at her side, she knew it wouldn't be easy to make a move against her!
Lola was unwilling, gritting her teeth and glaring at Freya.
Freya put away her phone, smiling faintly. "I've figured out a solution for you. It is up to you whether you do it or not. But Lola, if you don't pay today, neither of you will be leaving Splendor & Co.."
Jinny, hearing this, hurriedly grabbed Lola's arm and urged, "Lola, what are you waiting for? Call your benefactor. Hurry!"
Freya smiled wryly. In times of crisis, friends are the ones who step forward to take the hit.
Having witnessed too many instances of this "deep sisterly bond," Freya found the relationship between Madeline, Ella, and herself truly precious.
"Keep an eye on them. They can't leave until they pay. If they refuse, call the police." Freya instructed the staff before standing up from her seat. She glanced sideways at Bradley, slowly placing her small hand in his palm, smiling.
"Dear, I loved the jewellery. Thank you."
Bradley held her hand in return, leaning closer to whisper in her ear, "Actions speak louder than words."
Freya blushed. Could this man please be mindful of the occasion? Always flirting with her at inappropriate times?
Seeing the envy in the eyes of the staff, Freya felt even more embarrassed. She quickly pulled her hand away from his and dashed out of the store.
Bradley's lips twitched slightly. Following closely behind, he stopped at the doorway and spoke in a low voice.
"Do as the madam says. And, from now on, do not allow those two to step foot in here."
"Yes, Mr. Austin."
Once they left, the staff approached, arms crossed, and looked at Lola and Jinny.
"Miss Lawson, Miss Austin, which of you is going to pay for this?"
