Juliet was psychologically traumatized by that and had to be in therapy for several months. She had only improved recently.
Bradley pondered for a long time before deciding to have Juliet move out of Solterra.
He regretted that decision now.
Juliet had not given up on loving him. It also seemed like she was even more dependent on him.
Without Freya, he might have been able to take care of her. However, with Freya in the picture, his life had completely changed. He could not treat Freya the same way he did in the past.
He had never told Freya about Solterra because he did not want her to put her in danger with him. Still, now that Juliet was here, he did not want to keep it a secret anymore.
When he returned home that evening, he planned to confess his true identity to Freya and tell her about Juliet's existence.
He did not want her to hold any grudges. After all, he never had any romantic feelings for Juliet.
"Brady, why are you silent?"
Juliet's sudden question snapped Bradley out of his thoughts.
He let out a heavy sigh. In a deep and calm voice, he declared, "You are my sister. I will take care of you."
Upon hearing that, Juliet clenched her fists and bit her lip in frustration. Her voice was filled with sorrow and sadness as she said, "You know that I don't want to be your sister. Bradley, I like you. I have liked you since I first saw you as a child."
If she did not like him, she would not have risked her life to infiltrate Solterra as his informant.
"I am already married!" Bradley was annoyed. He kept looking down at his watch.
There was a long silence on the other end.
Bradley was about to say something to her before hanging up when Juliet suddenly spoke.
"Do you love her?"
He hesitated before replying in a tone filled with restrained happiness, "I love her."
There was a loud bang as Juliet felt her heart shatter into pieces.
She forcibly held back the jealousy in her heart, but her voice betrayed her sorrow. "In what way am I inferior to her?
She met Bradley first. She liked him for so many years, but he never looked at her as a woman or even said he liked her.
Now, he was saying he loved Freya.
Just how long had they known each other? Even if there was a mutual attraction, it was impossible to fall in love so quickly.
"Juliet, I only see you as a sister. No matter what you need in the future, I will fulfill it for you," Bradley explicitly stated. Surely, she'll understand me now.
However, there was no response from the other side. There was a soft sob before a series of loud bangs could be heard.
Shortly after that, a woman screamed over the phone.
"Juliet, what's wrong with you?"
For a long time, no one spoke.
All that could be heard were sobs and screams from an emotional outburst.
Bradley hurriedly hung up and grabbed his suit jacket before walking out of the office.
...
Before Freya fell unconscious, she faintly heard someone speaking to her.
"Miss Lawson, I'll make sure you have a good time tonight.
Freya's head was heavy, and she was unable to muster any strength in her body. Her eyes were unfocused as everything was spinning around her.
She had been drugged.
On the way, she had prepared herself with many needles tucked away in her clothes. However, one moment of distraction allowed her opponents a chance to take advantage of her.
Now, she could not even lift her hand, let alone prick herself with a needle.
Just as she thought that, she suddenly heard a commotion not far away as someone walked before her.
Bruce, who had just been tied to a chair, had his ropes untied. He stood up and walked over to sneer down at Freya.
"You are as stupid as your dead mother. Do you really think that by forcing me into a corner, I would be helpless against you?" Bruce kicked her hard and continued, "Let me tell you, Freya, the Lawson Corporation is mine now. Once today is over, you will be known throughout the city as a wanton woman. I wonder if Bradley will still want you. Would you even be qualified to be the president of Lawson Corporation then? You will end up just like your mom.
"I didn't plan on being so vicious, but you forced me to do this. Don't blame me for not holding back then."
After saying that, he was about to slap her out of frustration when Kai sternly shouted at him, "She is mine now. Dare you to touch her again."
Bruce immediately smiled in a fawning and apologetic manner as he said, "Don't worry, Kai. I promise she is fully yours. Still, what about my IOU and deed?"
Kai gestured to one of his thugs who brought him Bruce's IOU. Kai tore it to pieces right then and there before handing the deed back to Bruce.
"Thank you, Kai. I'll be leaving now."
Bruce turned around. There was no sign of sympathy in his eyes.
By destroying the IOU, he no longer owed any debts. He would not have to worry about someone cutting off his hands or feet in the future. As for the deed, he would keep it as a form of protection against Freya.
He knew his daughter too well. Charlotte was Freya's weakness. As long as Charlotte was involved, Freya would lose her composure no matter how calm she appeared.
Otherwise, she would not have immediately brought 50 million to the scrapyard as soon as she heard that the site was being sold.
Since she did not think of him as her parent and even went as far as to try to kill him, he had no reason to be merciful to her.
"Bruce…"
The kick from Bruce helped Freya regain some clarity. She gritted her teeth and stared at him before fiercely declaring, "You better pray that I don't make it through tonight. Otherwise, when I get out, I will make you wish you were dead!"
Bruce paused in his tracks and turned around to glare at her.
Even in the face of death, she dared to threaten him. If Kai did not covet her, he would have killed her right then and there.
However, it didn't matter. Kai was notorious for being vicious in bed, enjoying various forms of thrills. It was said that any woman he took a liking to would not survive to the next morning.
Even if Freya could make it through the night, she would probably be barely clinging to life.
Bruce walked out of the scrapyard in a leisurely manner before he happened to run into a familiar face that filled him with so much fear that he wanted to run away.
However, Ella was quicker and kicked him from behind, causing him to fall to the ground. "Where is Freya?"
Bruce cried out in pain when his face hit the ground. "K-Kai took her."
Ella was impatient and didn't want to be entangled with Bruce, so he dashed in swiftly.
…
Freya was carried to a dark room that was only lit by a few candles.
The air was filled with the combined smell of unpleasant scents such as mold, blood, and the stench of sweat from men.
Already weakened by the drugs, these odors made her feel nauseous.
After vomiting, she was overwhelmed by dizziness. As she started to reach for a silver needle, her wrist was firmly grabbed.
