Chapter 222 Just Hug Me Like You Did When We Were Children

Xavier nodded, "Yes. Since Mr. Bradley left, she hasn't drunk a single drop of water."

Freya furrowed her brows as she visually examined the woman on the bed.

"Bradley, let's talk in the study."

Bradley nodded then looked to Freya. "Watch her for now. I'll be back soon."

"Okay," Freya replied.

After the door closed, Freya sat on the edge of the bed and carefully examined Juliet.

She found densely packed scars on Juliet's body. Although the wounds had healed, they left ugly scars.

Juliet's wrists were still wrapped in gauze that showed drops of blood.

After rebandaging Juliet's wrists, she gave Juliet a shot that would prevent miscarriage before feeding Juliet some water. After a while, Juliet opened her eyes.

"Do you want something to eat?

While Juliet harbored deep hostility toward Freya, she was still Bradley's savior. Freya had to fulfill her duty.

That was because she was Bradley's wife.

"Please," Juliet weakly replied with lips that trembled and skin as pale as paper.

Freya went downstairs into the kitchen to find some soup still simmering on the stove. It seemed that Xavier had kept it ready to be served at any time because Juliet had not eaten anything.

As Freya returned upstairs with a bowl of soup, she found Juliet sitting on the bed.

"Your body is very weak right now. You should rest more. Here, have some warm soup." Freya placed the bowl in front of Juliet.

Juliet glanced at her before reaching out for it.

After eating a few mouthfuls, she suddenly looked up at Freya and asked, "How much do you know about Brady. Do you know his identity?"

Freya did not understand what she was talking about, but she could hear the implication in her words.

Freya was clearly trying to sow discord between her and Bradley.

Freya knew that Bradley was hiding something from her, but she did not want to hear about it from someone else. She wanted him to tell her himself.

"Whoever he is, he is my husband." It was a casual statement that illustrated her stance on this matter.

Even though Juliet saved Bradley's life, that favor was not enough to bind him to her.

"Miss Lawson, you should know that Brady owes his life to me. The reason I've become like this is all for him. I left my hometown and followed him to this unfamiliar city. I feel very insecure, so I won't let him go."

"I understand," Freya nonchalantly replied.

From the phone call Juliet made to her, she knew Juliet would not be easy to deal with. Of course, her intentions toward Bradley would be even more complex.

She appeared weak on the surface, but the hostility in her eyes could not be concealed.

Juliet wanted to steal Freya's man. Freya knew from the first moment she saw Juliet.

Furthermore, her dramatic entrance indicated that she was cunning and knew how to feign vulnerability to gain sympathy.

"Brady is a man with a very strong sense of responsibility. He promised to take care of me for life, and he will not break his promise. We are childhood sweethearts with deep feelings for each other and were even engaged. I...

"Don't worry. He will take care of you. I will also fulfill my duties as Mrs. Austin and help take care of you," Freya said interrupting Juliet before she could finish.

Juliet was declaring war, but so what? Bradley married her, not the woman named Juliet.

Perhaps she held a grudge at first because of Juliet's existence, but now, upon meeting Juliet, she suddenly felt at ease.

Juliet was just a woman playing mind games, not someone worth concerning herself with.

As long as Bradley loved Freya, it was enough for her.

Juliet did not expect her to not be angry at all and even offer to help take care of herself. For a moment, she was stunned.

Her pupils constricted as she carefully assessed the woman in front of her.

Although they were about the same age, Freya's presence was much stronger while her face shone with a bold and heroic air that surpassed that of a man.

Freya would not be an easy opponent to deal with. Juliet secretly felt pressured.

However, it did not matter. After the probing just now, she discovered something.

Freya was unaware of Bradley's identity as the heir to Solterra.

In addition, due to the debt Bradley owed Juliet and the pregnancy caused by that rape, Bradley would not abandon her under any circumstances.

She had to make good use of this baby to steal Bradley back. When he inherited Solterra's throne in the future, she would be his queen.

Freya did not know what Juliet was thinking. After Juliet was done with her soup, Freya grabbed the bowl and went downstairs.

After she left, Juliet got out of bed and went to the study.

Bradley and Xavier were discussing the fate of the child in Juliet's womb.

"Juliet's current mental state is unstable, and with her depression and excessive use of medication, the child will be affected. I suggest we get rid of the child."

Bradley furrowed his brows. "I'll leave it to you."

"We should discuss this with Juliet. After all, it's her child. If she doesn't want to keep it, I will arrange for an abortion."

Juliet was eavesdropping at the door with her fists clenched tight.

Without the baby, how could she win Bradley's sympathy?

She knew she was pregnant long ago, but she never said anything and just waited for Bradley to find out on his own.

Now that he had found out, she would not terminate the pregnancy.

She wanted to use this child to make Bradley feel guilty for the rest of his life, so she could stay by his side forever.

"Get rid of it. Don't let her know," Bradley firmly said without hesitation.

"No!" Juliet spoke up, barging in through the door as she cried. "I want this child. It's now my only family. I can't lose my family again."

Juliet's sudden appearance startled the two.

"Why are you here?" Bradley frowned.

"Brady, please don't take the baby away from me. I have nothing now," Juliet said as shimmering tears rolled down her cheeks like crystal clear pearls.

She wanted to throw herself into Bradley's arms again, Xavier stopped her. "Juliet, your body is frail. You should rest more and not leave your bed."

Juliet angrily looked at Xavier, not understanding why he repeatedly stopped her from getting close to Bradley.

She clenched her fists. She wanted to be close to him, but she could not. That really caused her to seethe with resentment.

She pouted with red eyes as tears fell every time her lashes moved.

"Brady, you don't want me anymore, do you?"

Bradley could not bear to let her keep crying and finally went to her side, gently stroking her hair as if she was a little sister. "Ignoring the things you've done for Solterra, just the friendship between the Jordans and the royal family of Solterra is enough to ensure I will not abandon you. Take good care of yourself. Tell me if you need anything, and I will fulfill your wishes."

"Hug me, just like when we were kids, please?" Juliet bit her lip and acted coquettish. With drops of tears hanging on her eyelashes, threatening to fall, she looked as fragile as a glass doll.
