Chapter 228 The Plot Succeeds

Bradley could no longer suppress his discomfort. He gently pushed her away as a thin layer of sweat covered his handsome face while fragmented memories started to resurface in his mind.

Juliet deliberately wore a low-cut dress, revealing the marks on her neck, which were both shocking and suggestive.

Bradley's pupils dilated as a flash of images passed through his mind.

He vaguely remembered a fiery impulse within him, guiding his consciousness as he seemed to pin someone down on the couch.

Can that person be...

"Bradley, you don't need to blame yourself. My body is already tainted, so it doesn't matter what you do to me. As long as you're okay, it will be worth it, even if I die."

Juliet's eyes were red with tears clinging to her eyelashes, making her look pitiful.

Xavier's face turned ugly. He summoned the bodyguards outside and scolded them in a low voice, saying, "Didn't I tell you to take good care of Miss Jordan? How did she end up in the hospital? Also, where is Madam? Did she not return last night?"

The bodyguards looked embarrassed. "Miss Jordan insisted on coming, even resorting to threats of self-harm. We had no choice... As for Madam, she did come back last night but for some reason, she was very agitated and ran out."

Xavier felt uneasy, afraid that Freya had already discovered something.

If she found out about Bradley and Juliet last night...

That would be troublesome!

Inside the room.

Bradley held his head as he recalled memories of himself pressing down on someone. He could not recall the person's face and only knew they were a woman.

That woman had a faint medicinal smell on her, not the scent of Juliet's perfume.

"Juliet, what happened last night?" His memories were hazy. The more he tried to force himself to remember, the more his head felt like it was going to explode.

Juliet cried in distress as she spoke with a choked voice. "I don't know what happened either. You suddenly went crazy, then started tearing my clothes. I couldn't push you away at all. You made me hurt so much..."

Upon hearing that, Bradley stopped breathing. His heart felt as if it had been squeezed hard as suffocating despair weighed down on it.

"Did I… do anything improper to you?"

His memory was fragmented, so he had no idea how far he went.

N-No…" Juliet coyly blushed.

She dared not to say too much. After all, Bradley could remember at any time. Once he found out she was lying, everything would have been in vain.

This was just right, for now. As long as he believed that he treated her that way, it would be enough to evoke his inner guilt.

Her goal would also have been achieved.

Bradley took a deep breath. The strongest emotion he felt was relief.

"Your health is not good, and you can't stand the smell of hospitals. I will have someone take you back to the villa."

"I want to stay here and take care of you."

Bradley wanted to say something more, but Xavier walked in and said, "Juliet, Leonard has me to take care of him. You don't have to worry. It's actually you who is unwell, so you should go back and rest first."

Juliet did not want to leave. With a pitiful look in her eyes, she pleaded, "I want to stay here to accompany Leonard."

"Freya will be here soon. She will take good care of him."

Xavier felt that something was suspicious about all of this, but he could not pinpoint exactly what the problem was.

"I was going to have a miscarriage yesterday, but Freya came back to give me a miscarriage-prevention shot. She then left. It seems like she went to meet someone."

Xavier's face was dark. He used to think Juliet was gentle and demure, but after these two days of interacting with her, he seemed to have realized that she was not as simple as she seemed on the surface.

She might seem weak, but she was a schemer.

A cold look appeared on Bradley's face, as expected. His black eyes were dark and deep as if they had been dredged up from the depths of the sea.

"What did you see?"

"I-I saw her getting into a car with a man, but I don't know where they went."

Last night, she followed Freya for a while. Unexpectedly, she discovered a secret.

The dark gray Maybach was quite valuable, and the man who got out of the car had a tall and straight figure with an incredibly handsome face. He was as imposing as Bradley.

He stood in the rain while holding an umbrella for Freya. Although he did not say anything, Juliet could still see that the man's conflicted feelings for Freya were far from just ordinary friendship.

Bradley's face was extremely dark as he tightly clenched his fists.

Upon seeing that, Juliet quickly handed him her phone and asked in faux innocence, "Leonard, take a look. Maybe I'm mistaken. Is this person your friend?"

Bradley did not respond, but his eyes drifted toward the photo on the screen.

In an instant, his dark eyes turned pitch black with a frigid glint in them that sent shivers down other people's spines.

In the photo, Freya stood in the rain with the man standing tall behind her. The affection in his eyes was not even subtle.

He recognized who the man was, and that only made him clench his fists so hard that his bones were creaking.

Lance Fenton—

She was actually meeting with Lance behind his back.

Bradley's face was extremely ugly as he was shrouded in an icy aura from head to toe.

When Juliet saw his reaction, her eyes flashed with a hint of pride as she continued to sow discord and create a wedge between him and Freya.

"I just knew you would know him, Leonard. Why else would Freya leave with him in the middle of the night instead of visiting you…"

"Juliet, please step outside. I need to examine Leonard." Xavier saw just how dark Bradley's face was quickly interrupted Juliet.

Juliet demurely said, "Alright. I'll wait at the door. Call me if there's anything I can help with."

She knew she had succeeded.

Bradley believed her words.

He must hate Freya to the core now, never wanting to see her again.

After Juliet left, Xavier hurriedly defended Freya.

"Last night, you suddenly became manic. Freya had to knock you out. Do you remember if you woke up any time since then?"

He still could not believe that Bradley would be so frenzied as to violate Juliet. After all, he was repulsed by her body.

Bradley frowned.

He could not remember anything except Freya's scent as well as her telling him that she was going out to buy something and would be back soon.

However, he fainted after that. He had no memory of what happened later.

"Where is Freya? Does she know?" Bradley scowled, feeling restless as his mind was filled with images of Freya and Lance being together.

"She called me yesterday, asking about your condition. I asked her if the scratches on your body were from her, but she didn't answer and just hung up. Most likely... she knows,"

"Send someone to find her. Bring her back to me. Also, investigate the surveillance cameras in the villa. I want to know what happened last night."

He still could not believe he would do such a thing to Juliet.

The scent of Freya still lingered in his nose, so he could almost be certain that the person he held last night was her.

"Shadow has started the investigation, so there should be a report soon. However, your illness is very strange. It seems like you were poisoned."
