As Bradley put the call on speaker, Freya could hear the conversation clearly. Especially when the other party called Bradley by a unfamiliar name 'Leonard Newman', it surprised her.
What could his identity be?
She remained silent, quietly listening. The other party even sent a video, showing Juliet tied to a bed with her clothes stripped off, while someone wielded a belt and whipped her, cries of agony echoing.
"Bradley, please come and save me! I'm so scared, there are so many of them, they want to hurt me." Juliet cried, tears streaming down her face, her hair dishevelled, and her skin marked with red welts.
Juan's voice echoed again, "Leonard Newman, I have over twenty brothers guarding her. They are all desperados, some just released from prison not long ago. If you don't come soon, you might never see Juliet again."
Bradley furrowed his brows deeply. "Send me the address."
"You come alone. Do not bring your bodyguards. Keep your phone line open; I'll contact you anytime."
After the call ended, Freya squinted at him.
"Freya, wait for me. I'll tell you everything when I come back. Right now, I must go."
"I'll accompany you. We promised to face life and death together."
Freya held his hand.
"This is extremely dangerous. I can't let you take the risk. Be good, I'll come back safely." Bradley held her tightly. If it was a regular kidnapping, it would be manageable, but this was someone from Ian's faction. He didn't even know what awaited him.
"Exactly because it's dangerous, I can't let you go alone. Trust me, I'll stay far behind you and won't cause any trouble." Freya lifted her chin, her eyes pleading.
Bradley's eyes tightened, and he lifted her head, planting a deep kiss. "Once I rescue Juliet this time, I'll send her away. She won't appear in our lives again. Now, I have to go. Contact Gabriel; they'll protect you. But promise me, you'll stay far behind and prioritize your safety."
"Okay." Freya smiled at him.
Bradley hurriedly left. Freya immediately contacted Gabriel, who arrived promptly and got into the details of the plan while on the move.
"This is the situation. The person on the other end is called Juan. Bradley seems wary of him. Do they have a history?"
Gabriel's face turned grim upon hearing Juan's name. "Bradley disfigured Juan and even shot at him personally. If Bradley falls into his trap, Juan won't spare him."
"Who is Leonard Newman?"
Freya didn't want to pry too much, but upon reflection, understanding the enmity between the two sides might aid in planning the rescue.
"Bradley should be the one to tell you. I can only say that Bradley is not an ordinary person."
Freya didn't press any further. Both of them followed Bradley's car. He stopped by the side of a mountain road, walked a distance, and disappeared into the woods.
"What should we do now? Should we get out of the car too?" Clearly, this was a rendezvous point for the kidnappers, and Bradley had been taken away.
"I'll get out and follow. You stay in the car and wait for Patrick and the others to come for backup." After saying that, Gabriel handed her a gun and asked coldly, "Do you know how to use it?"
Freya nodded.
Gabriel squinted, then left without further delay.
Soon, Patrick arrived. The group split up and entered the forest.
After walking a considerable distance into the woods, Freya saw a dilapidated wooden house not far ahead, likely the hideout of the kidnappers.
"Freya, Bradley instructed us to ensure your safety. I'll lead the team inside. You wait outside and don't wander around." Patrick reminded her carefully, leading the group of bodyguards toward the wooden house. Each of them carried weapons, acting like a well-trained army.
This made Freya even more curious about Bradley's true identity. Disregarding Patrick's advice, she stealthily followed.
With her abilities, protecting herself wasn't difficult. She just wanted to be by that man's side, to let him know that no matter how tough things got, she was there with him.
Outside the small wooden house, Freya noticed over a dozen people guarding the perimeter. She saw Bradley being escorted by two men, while a man emerged from the house, emitting a sinister laughter.
"Leonard Newman, you came so quickly!"
"No time for nonsense. Where's the person?"
"Wanna see her? Show me your sincerity." After speaking, he gestured for two men to search Bradley before bringing him inside.
Freya, unaware of the situation inside, felt worried. She squinted.
Seizing the element of surprise, she approached, taking down a guard with silver needles. Dragging him into the woods, she changed into his clothes, satisfied with her disguise, and headed toward the wooden house.
These people wore strange attire and half masks on their faces, which aided Freya's disguise. No one could recognize her.
She blended in.
Inside the old wooden house, dimly lit and covered in cobwebs, it was clearly abandoned for a long time. Bradley had been brought in.
Juan clenched his fists, bones cracking. Then, he swung and landed a heavy punch on Bradley!
"Leonard Newman, never thought you'd end up in my hands. I'll make you wish you were dead!"
However, Bradley's speed was incredible. He dodged slightly as the fist came towards him.
Watching from behind, Freya narrowed her eyes. Her fists clenched involuntarily. How dare this scoundrel try to harm her man!
Anger swelled within her chest. With two silver needles between her fingers, she struck unexpectedly.
One of the needles pierced Juan's arm, the other his calf.
Uncontrollably, Juan's knees buckled, and he knelt before Bradley.
As if sensing something, Bradley slowly turned his head, his gaze falling on a petite figure not far away.
Hastily, Freya lowered her head.
Furrowing his brows, Bradley's eyes flickered with complex emotions.
Looking down at Juan, who seemed suddenly powerless, Bradley kicked him away.
"Hand her over!"
Juan seemed out of control, as if he were possessed. What was going on?
