"Don't fight it, you're officially my wife now."
He chuckled softly, his handsome face and that seductive tone were like something out of a fairy tale.
"Hey, behave yourself, it's daytime, shouldn't you feel a bit ashamed?"
"No, not at all."
He leaned in and started kissing her gently, starting from her forehead, slow and tender, yet kind of teasing.
Freya felt herself starting to give in again, so she gave him a quick pinch.
"You can't do that, Dr. Jacobs is coming to the city today. Your blood tests are ready, and he needs to check you thoroughly, so just play along."
A few days back, Freya had Ella take the syringe to Dr. Jacobs. Turned out, Bradley had indeed gone mad from being injected with poison.
Since it was a new kind of poison with lots of unknowns, Dr. Jacobs decided to fly over and take a closer look at Bradley's condition and come up with an antidote.
"You've been on the phone a lot lately. Is it with this Dr. Jacobs?"
He squinted at her, looking deep into her eyes.
"Yes," Freya noticed his focus shift and jumped right into it. "Dr. Jacobs is an expert in toxicology. He's got his own team and once he figures out what happens, he can hook you up with the right meds. Your bipolar can totally be managed."
Bradley wasn't interested. He raised an eyebrow and tilted her chin up, "Is he a man or a woman?"
"He's a man." .
Freya blurted out.
The next second, Bradley's face darkened real quick, there was a flash of red in his eyes.
Freya realized something was wrong.
Was he ... jealous? Or feeling threatened again?
She scrambled to explain, "Don't worry, there's nothing going on between us. We only met a couple years back, hung out once, and we've just been chatting on the phone since."
She started babbling, afraid she might set him off.
"How old is he?"
Bradley lightened up a bit after hearing that.
He figured if he's a doctor, he's probably not young either.
Freya hesitated and stuttered, "T-twent-eight."
Bradley's face went dark.
Becoming a doctor at twenty-eight and also a toxicology whiz with his own research crew, this was prime example of top-tier talent.
Not just that, Freya often dialed him up and sometimes talked for half an hour straight.
Bradley couldn't wrap his head around the fact they had only crossed paths once.
This woman was purely fooling him.
Seeing more red streaks in his eyes, Freya began to panic. He was really sick again.
Last time in the cabin, he almost strangled her.
Now in bed, would he kill her here?
"H-honey, calm down, things are not what you're thinking."
Freya reached for the needle pack at the bedside table, knowing she would have to sedate Bradley if he lost control.
However, before she could even touch the drawer, the man grabbed her hand first, his tone turning ice cold.
"So what is it? Tell me!"
"I love you, you're the only one for me, do you believe me?"
She knew when he flipped out, his emotions were all over the place. If he heard something he didn't like, he could lose control.
Therefore, the best bet now was to play along with whatever he said. As long as he didn't get mad, they could keep his symptoms in check.
"Then you better kiss me," he said hoarsely.
Without hesitation, Freya cupped his face and laid one on him.
She wasn't sure if it was her kiss or not, but it seemed to calm him down as his tense muscles eased up and his bloodshot eyes softened.
Before long, the man's voice piped up again.
"Do you love me?"
"Honey, I'm head over heels for you."
Freya got kissed until she was lost in a fog, her thoughts completely under his spell.
Later on, she realized she'd been played.
This guy had been pulling the wool over her eyes the whole time. He wasn't actually sick.
"Baby, did you enjoy it?"
His deep voice sent shivers down Freya's spine, making her blush like crazy.
What a jerk!
Disgusting!
Shameless!
He actually pretended to be sick just to trick her!
How did she not see through this guy's sneaky act earlier? He's a sly old fox, always playing games.
She was fuming and reached out to grab him.
Bradley winced in pain, but he still had the nerve to smirk, "I didn't force you, you made the choice."
Freya felt a mix of embarrassment and anger, and her little fist thumped into his chest again.
"Sneaky and cunning, I'm done dealing with you."
Freya said while rolling over to get off the bed.
However, she underestimated how worn out her body was. Before her feet hit the ground, a wave of soreness and pain hit her hard. She stumbled and nearly hit the floor.
A strong hand caught her firmly, pulling her into a hug.
"Baby, if you want to make a move, there's no need to hold back around your husband."
Freya hesitated, "…"
Could she take back this thing?
Was this hot guy really her husband?
The thing was, this enticing and charming devil with a strong vibe was seriously attractive. She snuggled up in his arms, checking out the muscles on his body and couldn't help but gulp nervously.
Bradley was in a damn good mood.
Just a little bit of scheming and he could get what he wanted, whether by actively pursuing it or having it delivered to him, the taste left him longing for more.
He had never been an impulsive man.
However, since he barged into the Lawson family and sneakily kissed the little fool, he had been hooked on her taste.
All logic and coolness went out the window.
Ring ring ring!
The phone rang.
Freya seemed to get a distress signal and gave Bradley a pathetic look.
"Honey, can I answer the phone?
"Who's calling?"
"Put me down first, let me check then I'll tell you."
However, the guy didn't let her go. Instead, he picked up her phone.
When he saw "Dr. Jacobs" on the screen, jealousy flared up in his dark eyes.
Without a word, he just swiped to answer the call.
Freya hadn't even reacted when the other person's voice came through.
"Hey, Freya, I'm at the airport. Where's your place? Give me the address."
Freya was gonna say something.
However, seeing the man's shady look, she backed off, swallowing the words she was gonna say.
"Hey, Freya, are you listening?"
"Dr. Jacobs?"
After a pause, Bradley piped up.
The other person seemed surprised at first, then seemed to catch on and a soft chuckle came through.
"You must be Bradley, huh?"
"I'm her husband," he corrected assertively."
While it wasn't wrong for others to call him that, hearing it from Dr. Jacobs made him uneasy.
Sean's hearty laugh echoed, "Oh yeah, I forgot you two are already hitched. So, is Freya with you?"
Bradley stayed quiet.
He shot Freya a dangerous look for a few seconds before reaching out, casually giving her waist a pinch.
"Ouch!"
She couldn't hold back a cry.
That sound went into the microphone, neither too loud nor too soft, and also went into Sean's ears.
