Freya understood that his erratic behavior was due to the poison, making him possessive and unpredictable.
She tried to calm him down, saying, "Alright, let's talk about your condition. I'll come over soon to keep you company."
"Just for ten minutes," he insisted.
Sean: "…"
Sean couldn't help but feel surprised. He hadn't anticipated Bradley's clingy behavior.
Not only did he lose control when he got sick, he also became affectionate like a puppy.
Besides, he had this delution of having rivals, believing everyone's eyeing his woman.
Freya reluctantly agreed, "Okay, just ten minutes."
"Then give me a kiss," he demanded.
Freya glanced at Sean, who tactfully looked away.
Feeling helpless, she leaned in and planted a kiss on him.
Nevertheless, things didn't go as planned. Bradley took the lead and passionately kissed her, leaving her breathless.
He only released her when she was about to pass out from suffocation.
Freya clenched her puffy lips, seething with anger.
She wanted to slug him but hesitated. His actions seemed involuntary.
"Tell me once more that you love me," he insisted.
Sean felt utterly defeated.
He came to assist with an illness, not to get tangled up in this lovey-dovey stuff.
Freya gritted her teeth, muttered "I love you, I love you," then bolted away.
If she didn't run now, who knew what craziness this guy will unleash next, making her say some outrageous stuff.
When they reached the front yard, Freya finally relaxed.
Sean joked, "Freya, I don't think your hubby needs treatment for his 'illness'."
"No treatment?"
Freya was puzzled.
Sean explained, "Think about it, when he's not raging mad, he's all over you like a puppy. Pretty sweet, right?"
"What's so great about that? Who wants to be chased around by a puppy every day?"
"You're just being coy. Bradley is a catch – good-looking, wealthy, and influential. Lots of women would want a piece of him. But with his 'condition', he's all yours. No need to stress about keeping him tight. Sounds pretty nice, right?"
Freya pondered, seeing some truth in it.
Still, you couldn't just look at the bright side. Who knew when this guy would go crazy and become violent?
She hadn't forgotten when he had outbursts twice, both times he was trying to choke her.
"Don't mess around. His condition's too risky. You need to develop an antidote to counter the poison."
"This poison hasn't been tested on humans. Your husband is like a lab rat. I've got the basic formula down, but I cannot predict his future symptoms."
"Now he's not only acting all manic but also clinging to people and seeing them all as a rival. Plus, he's gotten craftier, faking illness to deceive people."
Sean raised an eyebrow, "How's it affecting your marriage, though?"
Freya blushed.
Was it okay for him to ask such personal stuff?
"Like, how many times?"
Freya: "....."
"If you don't spill the beans, I won't have the full picture and it'll be tough to give him the right treatment."
Sean said with a smirk, looking even more charming.
Freya thought to herself, thankfully he's into guys. Otherwise, she might have been tempted.
She bit her lip and reluctantly admitted, "Four or five times."
Last night she was drowsy, but she vaguely remembered his various mischievous actions.
Being fooled again this morning, she lost track of how many times it had happened.
Yet, she was aware that Bradley was quite dominant in this regard!
"What about before?"
Before?
Uhm.
Um, last night was their first time, so there's no "before."
She awkwardly confessed, "Just that one time."
Pfft!
Sean bursted out laughing, "Seriously? You've been hitched to Bradley for over six months, and only once?"
"Cut it out, Dr. Jacobs, it's embarrassing."
"You're married now, no need to be so shy!" Sean teased, reaching out to pinch her cheek, but suddenly, a stone flew towards him and hit his hand, making him wince in pain.
As he was about to curse, he looked up and met a pair of cold eyes.
Bradley standing there, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
Sean froze, feeling a chill down his spine.
When did the King of Hell show up? Why didn't he realize?
"Freya, time is up."
Bradley's been eyeing the clock the whole time. The minute it ticked ten, he was on it, reminding us.
Just as he arrived, he caught Sean trying to get close to Freya which triggered his jealousy and led him to intervene immediately.
"He's here. I'll reach out to you, then you can send me your address," Freya whispered.
Sean nodded frantically, eager to get out of there.
It was really scary when Bradley got jealous.
Let Frederick send Sean away.
Bradley dragged Freya back to the room, no words, just a fiery kiss.
"Hey, Honey, calm down. Nothing's going on between me and Sean. He's into guys, he doesn't like women," she reassured him quietly.
Bradley finally released her.
He gave her a cold stare. "Is he really into guys?"
"Yes, when we first met, he was all about that."
Their encounter with Sean was totally random.
They crossed paths during some academic event.
Our first encounter was great, and with some collaborations later on, we clicked right away.
Sean had a cheerful personality, despite being a big shot in poison medicine. He didn't have that typical successful person vibe, he was just living his best life.
Freya really admired his attitude towards life and found it easy to get along with him.
Even though they didn't hang out much over the years, they always kept in touch by phone.
"You're not lying to me, are you?"
Bradley had his doubts, but he was starting to buy it.
After some thought, Sean indeed looked quite young and had a bit of a feminine vibe.
"I swear, I'm not making this up. He might have a thing for you, not me," Freya pledged.
That seemed to calm Bradley down. "This guy sounds off. You should stay away."
Freya clenched her lips.
She knew Bradley's judgment was off because of the poison messing with his head, making him see everyone as a threat.
Just then, a text came in on her phone.
It was from Sean.
Just two words: 'Stay safe.'
Freya quickly pocketed her phone, not wanting Bradley to see. She nudged him. "Hey, Honey, are you really skipping work today?"
"Don't worry, I'll stick around to make sure that sneaky guy doesn't show up."
Freya chuckled to herself, knowing Sean would flip if he heard the word 'sneaky'.
Even though he was not into women, he seemed to enjoy the challenge of pursuing something he was told couldn't have.
"If you're not going to work, I still have to go. The company just started and there are loads of papers waiting for my signature."
"Tell your assistant to bring those papers over for you to sign at home."
"You're staying put today," the man commanded, tilting her chin up for a kiss.
He was just too clingy!
