Chapter 270 Special Preferences

She regretted it big time now. She shouldn't have said those things earlier in the day.

This man must've been mulling over this all day, his mind all twisted up after being poisoned.

Bradley's mood darkened and he held her downstairs to the backyard.

"Okay, let's take a stroll and continue later."

Freya exhaled, relieved that she had finally managed to appease this difficult person.

They walked hand in hand through the corridor.

Tonight, the moon was full and bright, casting a shimmering glow, while the stars twinkled above.

It almost felt like a romantic date.

Bradley stayed quiet, watching her closely, but his thoughts were fixated on her lips, itching to taste them.

With that in mind, he pulled her into his tight embrace.

He leaned in for a deep kiss with his head lowered.

Caught off guard, Freya couldn't even think straight as she looked into his handsome face so close to hers. Her mind went blank.

What did she mess up now? Why was he pulling this stunt again?

Once the kiss landed, she felt her whole body go weak.

She heard him whisper in her ear, "Let's take a walk and then head back home."

Without giving her a chance to object, he carried her up, straight to the bedroom.

It turned out to be another sleepless night.

When Freya woke up again, it was already noon the next day.

Half asleep, she opened her eyes and heard the sound of a phone call coming from the balcony.

Freya struggled to get out of bed, feeling sore all over.

As she tried to get out of bed, the man came in after ending the call. She laid back down and pretended to be asleep.

Bradley approached her and bent down, placing a kiss on her forehead.

"I've got some urgent business at the office, so just relax and wait for me here."

After a brief kiss, he turned and left.

As she heard the door close, Freya finally dared to open her eyes, letting out a sigh of relief.

Just then, the phone rang again.

Ella called, saying she had managed to get Juan to talk and that he agreed to get the poison from the Logan family.

To ensure there were no tricks, Ella decided to hypnotize him.

This way, Juan as the best pawn, was potentially becoming a valuable asset for reviving the Solterra in the future.

Freya packed her stuff and hit the road from home, driving over to Sean's place.

She wanted to check in on the progress of the antidote.

Sean, who usually preferred peace and quiet, surprisingly opted for a farmhouse.

Following the GPS, Freya reached his place after navigating through twists and turns on the mountain road.

Stepping out of the car, she saw Sean wearing a straw hat, watering flowers in the yard.

If he hadn't called out to her, she might've thought she had the wrong person.

"Hey, Dr. Jacobs, why do you choose to come here and get bitten by mosquitoes instead of staying in your nice villa? You really do have unusual preferences."

"What's so special about villas? The air is fresher here, and it might even add years to your life."

Sean set down the watering can, washed his hands, then joined her for a cup of coffee before discussing the antidote's progress.

"So, how's the progress with the antidote?"

Freya smelled the hot coffee and took a sip.

"No breakthrough yet. I'll need to start once we have enough poison."

Sean lounged back with his legs crossed, his eyes lifting gracefully.

"We'll need two more days to get the poison. I'll get on it once it's in my hands."

"Got it. But, Freya, be prepared. Creating an antidote will take time. Even though I'm a whiz, I can't guarantee a hundred percent success."

Freya nodded. "I trust you."

"Alright, follow me. I'll show you my new lab."

Sean declared, getting up and scanning the surroundings.

This trip was primarily for Bradley's illness, but he also had some projects brewing here.

He'd been scheming this for a while now. He snagged this farm ages ago, prepping it for his lab setup.

Despite being remote, this place had extensive land and abundant resources, making it ideal for research.

Freya followed after Sean, initially thinking this place was barren and secluded. However, she was pleasantly surprised to discover some unique scenery deeper in.

"How did you find this place? It's like a hidden gem."

Freya marveled at nature's wonders and Sean's knack for finding hidden spots.

Those eyes were truly sharp that he managed to find such a great place.

"You can find lots of places like this online, but city folks like you might not dig these rural hideouts."

Sean joked, leading her to a small house and motioning for her to check it out.

As soon as Freya stepped inside, she was blown away.

The little house was packed with all sorts of research gear, neatly arranged.

Small but mighty, Sean's lab was quite the sight to behold.

Freya spotted various experimental samples and a cage of small white mice nearby.

However, these mice didn't seem right. Their eyes were all bloodshot and they looked pretty feisty.

Sean kept chatting behind her, "I tested the residue you brought on these little guys. They're showing signs of aggression and have started attacking each other. We had five, but two died yesterday."

Freya froze, her expression turning grave.

She remembered Bradley's earlier behaviour, when he had lost control and turned into a raging beast, not recognizing anyone.

He nearly choked himself out, his emotions at the time seemed to only crave blood.

"I gave them sedatives this morning to calm them down, but who knows what's next."

Sean said, his gaze locked on Freya.

"I'm telling you this to warn you that Bradley's toxin levels are sky-high. He could snap at any moment, anywhere. You must be careful and not set him off."

"Got it, loud and clear."

She made sure Ella stocked up on silver needles, just in case his condition got critical.

But she vowed not to use them unless it was absolutely necessary.

After all, those needles were laced with sedatives, which was not great for the long haul.

After walking around the farm, Freya headed back to the city.

She called Harry to double-check Bradley's location.

Knowing he was still at the office, Freya felt so relief.

Freya was anxious that Harry might not be aware of Bradley's condition, so she kept reminding him to look after Bradley before heading to the clinic.

As she was chatting on the phone and also driving, she got a bit distracted for a moment and ended up bumping into a red sports car that came from the side.

"Are you blind? Don't you know how to drive?"

The person from the other car grumbled as they stepped out of their vehicle.

Freya squinted in surprise, spotting Ethan with a sly grin on his face.

It was quite a shock to bump into each other in this place.

Ethan also caught sight of her and couldn't help but shudder.

After being fooled by Freya a few times, he now felt a shiver down his spine whenever he saw her.
