"I... I used to disturb beehives often when I lived in the countryside. Nothing serious ever happened, just got stung a few times, and it hurt for a few days and nights."
Bradley raised an eyebrow, affectionately pinching her cheek, then proceeded to lift the dark beehive.
"Let's head back home and enjoy honey-glazed eggplant."
He held the beehive in one hand and guiding her with the other.
Observing the mountains and the dense bamboo forests surrounding them, Freya speculated that there might be numerous bamboo shoots.
She tugged at his sleeve and whispered, "Honey, I'd like to go up the mountain."
"What are you doing up the mountain?"
"I want to dig bamboo shoots; I crave them," she replied, lips pursed, concerned he might object.
After all, he had just encountered bees, and now she wished to venture into the mountains again. Could the esteemed CEO of Austin Group tolerate it?
To her astonishment, after scrutinizing her for a while, he nodded in agreement.
"Alright, let's stash these items away and then head to the mountains. We'll need tools for digging bamboo shoots, won't we?" In such a perilous mountainous area, essential self-defense weapons were necessary.
First, Bradley returned the beehive and vegetables to the yard, then grabbed a hoe and a small knife before he rejoined Freya.
Upon reaching the mountain, Freya's true nature emerged as she darted around like the wind.
"This type of labor isn't suited for you. Just point out which bamboo tree you fancy, and I'll handle the digging," Bradley remarked.
Moved by his words, Freya's heart swelled with gratitude.
Previously, she was accustomed to being independent, doing everything on her own, and even going hungry if she couldn't do it well.
But now, there was such a man who took care of everything for her, treating her like a princess in every way, handling everything for her.
She watched him sweating and digging bamboo shoots, wearing a black windbreaker that made him look as tall and straight as a pine tree, his sleeves rolled up to reveal his muscular arms.
These hands had either fought countless battles on the battlefield or signed monumental contracts in the office.
Yet now, he set aside his pride to fulfill her desires, coming to dig bamboo shoots for her.
Feeling touched, Freya approached him and wiped away his sweat with a wet tissue.
The bamboo shoots laid buried deep, and it took Bradley considerable time to unearth them.
As Freya began cleaning the mud off the bamboo shoots, they heard a disturbance nearby.
Bradley squinted, his innate vigilance alerting him to danger.
Quickly pulling Freya behind him, he surveyed the surroundings while holding his breath.
Then, they heard a howl.
It was a wolf!
Despite the absence of darkness, wolves were approaching, and it seemed there was more than one.
As the wolf pack drew nearer, Bradley gripped his hoe, prepared for a confrontation.
A rustling in the bushes heralded the arrival of a white wolf.
Swiftly pulling Freya behind him, Bradley glared fiercely at the white wolf.
Usually, wolves of this color were leaders.
The one before them was robust, entirely white, exuding an aura of leadership.
Moreover, its eyes possessed an almost spiritual quality unlike those of ordinary wolves.
The white wolf emitted a howl and slowly approached Bradley, ignoring him and focusing on Freya.
Freya didn't expect that Snowy would come here and bring so many friends with him.
However, Bradley preemptively seized her hand.
"Freya, what are you doing? Wolves are highly aggressive. You can't approach it."
"It's fine; it's my friend!"
Freya broke free from his grip and extended her arms toward the white wolf, which leaped into her embrace with excitement.
Bradley was stunned.
What was happening?
Could his wife really befriend wolves?
Suddenly, he recalled the incident at the Austin Mansion when Freya emerged unscathed from danger set up by Ethan and Lola.
Later, he examined the mountain's infrared surveillance network and discovered that it had captured footage of the white wolf.
Snowy appeared to have developed a close bond with Freya, lying obediently in front of her as she gently stroked its fur.
"You're probably wondering why I have such a close relationship with wolves."
Freya remarked, noticing the man's surprised expression, and proceeded to provide an explanation.
"Back when I lived in the countryside, I used to hike in the mountains every day. When Snowy wasn't the alpha yet, it got injured, and I rescued it. Since then, whenever I went up the mountain, Snowy would always be by my side, protecting me from other wild animals. Over time, we became friends, and none of the wolves in the mountains would harm me."
In the past, she would summon Snowy by blowing a whistle to attract its attention. However, today, she hadn't blown the whistle, so she wondered how Snowy knew she was on the mountain.
Before Freya could ponder further, Snowy suddenly stood up and fixed a deep gaze on Bradley.
It tentatively approached him, but upon noticing the hoe in his hand, it whimpered slightly, appearing somewhat fearful.
Bradley narrowed his eyes.
The royal descendants of Solterra were all equipped with Shadowfang Jade Whistle to command wild beasts in the mountains.
From childhood to adulthood, he had been traversing the woods.
With a blow of the jade whistle, he could control all beasts.
Given that he didn't have the jade whistle with him now, it was rather surprising that this white wolf would take the initiative to express goodwill towards him.
"Snowy seems to have taken a liking to you. Don't scare it,"
Freya said, taking the hoe from him. Observing that the threat was removed, Snowy approached Bradley and stared at him with its green eyes.
A pack of wolves also drew near, circling him multiple times before howling continuously.
Freya hadn't anticipated that Snowy would also be fond of Bradley.
Could this be what they referred to as "loving someone and accepting everything about them"?
Because Snowy was her friend, it naturally developed affection for her man too.
Although Freya wished to spend more time with Snowy, Bradley promptly pulled her away, stating, "It's still a wild animal. Don't get too close! We've found the bamboo shoots; let's descend the mountain."
Freya glanced at Snowy, nodded, and then followed Bradley down the mountain.
Even as they left the forest and reached the mountain's base, Snowy trailed them from a distance.
"Snowy, go back now. I'll visit you when I have the chance."
Freya turned around and waved at it.
Snowy seemed to comprehend her message, let out a bark, and then retreated into the woods.
Upon returning home, they began preparing dinner.
The bamboo shoots Bradley had unearthed were sizable, and Freya began handling the ingredients while the man attended to the beehive beside her.
Lacking proper tools, extracting honey proved to be a challenge, prompting them to devise a method for filtration.
Observing the man's earnest expression, Freya couldn't help but smile.
True happiness, she realized, laid in these simple moments.
Sharing life with the man she loved, it was happiness in its purest form.
