"At present, there is no strategy. We can only avoid you shedding blood and try not to provoke you."
Hearing this, Bradley clenched his fists, a hint of hostility in his pupils.
He was well aware of his own condition.
Besides bouts of madness, he harbored a possessive streak towards Freya.
Whenever he saw her interacting with others, jealousy would consume him.
Despite his efforts to control his emotions in recent days, Mrs. Smith's appearance had caused him to lose control completely.
"Don't fret. Sean has been studying your condition. I believe he may have a solution."
Xavier said, glancing at Bradley, whose hostility was evident even in his quiet moments.
The situation didn't look promising.
"I'll go check on Freya. When do you think she'll wake up?"
"She's lost a significant amount of blood and her body is weak. It might be a while before she wakes up. I suggest you rest too, so you can take care of her," Xavier recommended.
"No need, I'm fine."
With that, Bradley rose and made his way to the laboratory.
Concerned, Xavier followed him in.
Freya laid on the sickbed, her face pale and delicate.
Despite her severe injuries, she had shown remarkable resilience, holding on until the last moment.
Bradley sat beside her, gently caressing her face, feeling a pang of pain in his heart.
At one point, he had almost lost control, consumed by the desire to harm her.
But her words had pulled him back from the brink of madness.
He knew she was important to him; he couldn't bring himself to hurt her.
If he hadn't restrained himself then, he would have regretted it for the rest of his life.
"Now, the only person who can rein you in is Freya. But as you've seen, even her influence comes at a cost."
Bradley's fists clenched tighter as he listened.
He watched Freya silently, wrestling with himself.
He had to admit that Xavier was right; her proximity would eventually lead to her harm.
But he couldn't bear to let her go either.
"If I lose control again, just knock me out. No need for words," he said quietly.
"Knock you out? Even Sean was left with broken ribs when he tried to stop you. I doubt anyone can control you."
Bradley squinted.
Indeed, having grown up on the battlefield, his physical and martial prowess surpassed that of ordinary people.
When he was in a state of frenzy, no one could approach him.
"What do we do then? Do you want me to separate from Freya?"
Bradley's agitation was evident in his raised voice and reddened eyes.
Xavier hastily responded, "Having Freya leave you would be like signing your death warrant. Give me some time; I'll think of a way to restrain you."
"When Freya wakes up, go find my grandfather. Perhaps he can help control your condition."
Suddenly, a voice spoke from behind.
They turned to find Sean standing there.
"Dr. Jackson, I think you have realized that the poison on Mr. Bradley's body might be a military-grade toxin, mainly targeting the mind. With each instance of bloodshed, the frequency of losing control increases until he transforms into a wild beast.
My grandfather was involved in researching such toxins when he was young. He might have a solution. But as I've told Freya, my grandfather is old and eccentric. If you want to persuade him to help, you'll have to rely on your own abilities. After all, he doesn't even recognize me anymore, his grandson. Even my intervention would be useless."
Bradley's eyes darkened at this revelation.
Xavier stood up eagerly. "Could your grandfather be... Hayden Barnes, the legendary expert in toxicology?"
"Do you know my grandfather?"
Xavier smiled, "I do more than just know him. Your grandfather was the one who taught me this medical skill. However, I offended him inadvertently, and he expelled me from the sect,"
Reflecting on the past, Xavier felt a sense of helplessness.
Over the years, he had searched for Hayden Barnes, but he had retired to the mountains and there has been no news for many years.
Unexpectedly, Sean turned out to be Hayden Barnes' grandson.
If Sean hadn't mentioned it, Xavier might never have had the chance to meet his master again.
"That's quite a coincidence. My grandfather mentioned a disciple before; I didn't expect it to be you."
Sean remarked, equally surprised.
"He remembered me?"
"He mentioned you unconsciously. But he doesn't recognize anyone now."
"Where is your grandfather now?"
Xavier felt a sense of urgency regarding Bradley's condition. The longer it persisted, the more dangerous it became.
He had heard about the Beast Army from his master.
At that time, he just thought it was unbelievable how there could be such a terrifying army in this world.
His master once wanted to pass on this research to him, but he suffered from a strange disease at that time, and then he didn't recognize anyone.
He hadn't had a chance to touch this research again before his master expelled him.
"My grandfather retired to the mountains years ago, living a life of gardening, fish farming, and fishing."
"Give me the address, and I'll go see him first."
Sean quickly sent the address directly to his phone.
"Let me remind you, my grandfather's temper now is different. Many people came to him before, and he beat them out of anger. Afterwards, no one dared to come to him again."
"Don't worry, I'll be cautious."
Xavier left as soon as he got the address.
Before leaving, he gave Sean some needles.
If Bradley were to lose control, there was no need to show mercy, just stab him directly.
To prevent any accidents, Gabriel stayed in the laboratory. At a critical moment, he could endure hits and also restrain Bradley.
Fortunately, for most of the day, Bradley had been behaving normally.
Apart from sitting beside Freya's sickbed and chatting incessantly, he would just sit there lost in thought.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye.
Xavier returned, covered in injuries.
When Sean went to inquire about the situation, the results were unsatisfactory.
As soon as Hayden Barnes saw him, he didn't say a word and just started beating him up.
Xavier waited at the door and tried to talk to him about past events and even mentioned his identity, but the old man ignored him completely.
He leisurely whistled, fed birds, watered plants, and lived a carefree and enjoyable life.
He seemed to live in his own world, harboring strong hostility towards everyone he saw.
In the end, Xavier had no choice but to come back empty-handed.
"I told you, my grandfather's temper is strange now. He's very wary of anyone approaching him. You won't be able to get close to him."
Sean had already anticipated this outcome.
He just hadn't expected his grandfather to be so ruthless and beat someone up like that.
"What do we do now? If we can't get to my master, we won't be able to get the antidote."
Xavier felt irritated. He thought he would have some gain from this trip, but he hadn't even stepped inside the house and was sent back directly.
