Freya bit her lip and said, "Is Poppy as pretty as I am?"
"Do you want the truth?"
"Mm-hmm."
"She may be beautiful, but in my heart, no matter how captivating she may be, she can never compare to you!"
The man gazed deeply into her eyes, speaking with genuine affection.
Freya playfully punched him and said, "You're so cheesy."
"I mean it. If you don't believe me, I'll show you my heart."
He held her hand and pressed it against his chest.
Freya could feel his strong, powerful heartbeat, but it was accompanied by an uncontrollable restlessness.
"You don't have to. I trust you." Freya said.
The man lowered his gaze, leaning in to peck her on the forehead. "So, have you forgiven me?"
"Yes. You were drugged and couldn't control yourself. I don't blame you."
Hearing this, Bradley wasn't particularly pleased.
He had nearly slept with another woman, yet it doesn't concern her. He began to doubt her love to him.
This restless emotion quickly overwhelmed him.
He stared at the marks on her lips and started imagining things — had she been with another man?
The more he dwelled on it, the more his anxiety grew.
Soon, his consciousness was clouded by jealousy. He forcefully embraced her and kissed her passionately.
Freya felt his burning body and saw a hint of blush in his clear eyes.
He was having an episode again.
But why?
She hadn't provoked him at all!
This kiss was fierce and aggressive.
Freya soon felt suffocated and began to resist, pushing him away. But instead of moving away, he got agitated.
"Uh, darling, you're hurting me."
Freya felt like she was no longer herself. This was the second episode he'd had that day.
The more she resisted, the angrier he became.
In the end, she stopped struggling.
This man seemed like a stubborn child, refusing to heed reason. He escorted her back to the bedroom.
After several hours, Freya was on the verge of passing out once more.
Sean had mentioned that his emotions were easily swayed by her, stemming from his lack of security.
Freya pondered when she might have inadvertently upset him just now.
Was it because she wasn't angry?
That's why he thought she didn't care about him?
Realising this, she sighed helplessly and said, "Darling, I do care about you. The reason I'm not angry is because I know you wouldn't betray me. Can you understand that?"
The man's pupils deepened.
He said in a deep voice, "But you're not even jealous."
"I am, but so what? The thing has already happened. Should I go find that Poppy and beat her up?"
"Then tell me, how did you get those marks on your lips?"
Clearly she had been bitten, but she had lied to him.
Freya took a deep breath, trying to think of a reason that would pacify him.
This man was overly sensitive, he wouldn't believe just any reason.
"Okay, I'll tell you what happened. Today, Sean and I went to see Great Uncle Hayden. He's my great uncle-in-law and used to work with the Beast Army in the military, so he has studied about your illness. But he's also a bit of an old imp. He ran off into the woods with alcohol. Sean and I went to find him, and we got bitten by snakes..."
She started making up stories.
The man listened, his eyes becoming even deeper.
"Why didn't you tell me you were going to see Hayden Barnes?"
"It was urgent. My great uncle suddenly wanted to run away from home, and I was just too focused on stopping him. I forgot."
She snuggled up to him and said, "Darling, I know I made you worry. I promise you, next time I'll bring you with me."
Bradley was skeptical, but he didn't press further.
He just grabbed her by the forehead and kissed her deeply again.
"You made me worry, so make it up to me."
This whole ordeal lasted until late at night, and they didn't even have dinner.
Freya suddenly woke up.
She remembered where the jade whistle was.
When she was at Austin Corporation, entangled with Bradley in his office, the man seemed to have pulled on her necklace.
Perhaps the jade whistle fell off then.
Looking at the man sleeping soundly beside her, Freya got up, took a silver needle to perform acupuncture on him to help him sleep better without sudden awakenings.
If he realised that she was gone, this man would go crazy.
She quietly climbed out of the window.
The jade whistle had to be returned to its rightful owner, even if she couldn't find that man.
She could tell it was special.
For that man, it must be something precious too.
Austin Corporation.
Freya silently sneaked in.
The building was equipped with infrared surveillance everywhere, but she easily avoided it and went straight to Bradley's office.
Bradley was cautious. The door to his office had a fingerprint lock.
However, for a skilled hacker like Poppy, even the formidable fingerprint system was a piece of cake.
Freya took out her ultra-mini notebook, hacked into the fingerprint system, and sneaked into the room.
She rushed to the sofa and searched every nook and cranny but couldn't find the jade whistle.
She searched everywhere, even under the bed in the lounge.
This couldn't be happening...
It should have dropped here.
Could it have been picked up already?
Freya frowned deeply. The most probable person to pick it up was Bradley.
She was also worried that it might have been mistaken for trash and thrown away by the cleaner.
Because of Bradley's special status, there were no surveillance cameras in his office. Freya had no way of knowing who had taken the jade whistle.
She thought for a moment and decided to try searching on Bradley when she got home.
She quickly left the office after confirming everything is back in place.
Suddenly, a glaring light shone, and she instinctively shielded her eyes.
At that moment, a stern voice came from behind, "Who is there?"
Oh no!
Without thinking much, Freya bolted.
The patrolling guard activated the alarm, and soon the alarm system throughout the entire building was blaring.
The security department mobilized, each wielding electric batons as they rushed over.
Freya hadn't made an effort to disguise herself tonight, but she covered her face. When a security guard came after her, she grabbed his hands and kicked him.
She exited through the fire escape, but she didn't expect herself to be surrounded by a dozen security guards.
She had heard that Austin Corporation's security system was top-notch, but tonight she truly experienced it first-hand. It wasn't just good; it was superb that a fly couldn't even escape.
Seeing more and more people approaching, Freya felt a sense of impending danger.
