"Okay. I'll do as you say, honey," Bradley said.
Freya blew on a spoonful of the soup and waited for it to cool down before holding it up to his lips.
Bradley opened his mouth and drank the spoonful of soup. The bitter taste made him involuntarily frown, but he obediently swallowed.
"It's bitter!"
He scowled.
"Although traditional medicine is difficult to swallow, it doesn't harm your body. After drinking it a few more times, you won't find it difficult to drink anymore."
Freya coaxed in a gentle voice as she fed him another mouthful.
Her serious appearance with her eyelids drooping and long eyelashes brushing against her cheeks made her look very seductive, especially with her pursed red lips.
He could not help but lean in closer. After drinking a mouthful of herbal soup, he held onto the back of her head and kissed her again.
The bitter medicine flowed through their mouths. When mixed with the taste of her, it tasted like it was as sweet as honey.
Hmph!
Freya instantly froze, shocked and open-mouthed.
"This is the way to drink it."
He pursed his lips in contentment.
Freya glared at him in anger. "Stop fooling around. Hurry up and drink."
A bowl of traditional medicine was finished amidst the playful banter between the two.
When Hayden woke up, he frowned upon seeing Freya's swollen lips.
"Sue, what happened to your lips. They're so swollen!"
"I-I was stung by a bee."
"Bees?"
Hayden looked around suspiciously and somewhat in doubt even as a bee flew in from the window.
"Alright. The acupuncture segment is done. Now, go prepare the herbal bath for him to soak in."
Herbal bath?
Upon hearing these words, Freya immediately imagined scenes that belonged in the gutter instead.
Hayden wrote down the recipe for the herbal bath and asked Freya to go fetch the herbs. When he found no errors made, his admiration for her grew.
She truly was a member of the Lawson family with the prodigal medical skills that were found in her blood.
He instructed Freya on how to fill the tub, the ideal water temperature, and the proportion of herbs to water. Once everything was set, his alcohol addiction was acting up again, so he left with Yana and a bottle of wine.
As he left, he specifically said to them, "Remember. No kissing, no hugging, and no bathing together."
Ahem!
Freya blushed.
Bathing together…
She never thought of that. Why was Hayden like this?
Bradley originally wanted to take a bath alone, but as soon as he heard that idea, his eyes lit up.
Thus, after Freya helped him set up the water and was about to leave, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the tub.
"Wife, let's do it together."
"No! Great Uncle specifically instructed us not to bathe together."
Freya blushed. Why did Hayden have to mention that? Now, she was in trouble.
"He won't be back for a while. Don't worry."
The man's eyes were filled with tenderness as dazzling stars shone in his dark, deep eyes.
Just one glance at him made her blush and her heart race as she was unable to control her emotions.
This man... is simply enchanting!
"The sun is still up. This is inappropriate. Go wash up. I'll be back later."
Freya climbed out of the tub, completely wet.
Her perfect and delicate curves were fully visible while wet hair stuck to her cheeks. It made her look soft, beautiful, and appealing.
Just one look made Bradley's heart race.
He forcefully grabbed her hand as his eyes were filled with a shimmering light.
"Behave and stay in here. These herbs have a calming effect. If you're bored, just take a nap."
Bradley was displeased. "Stay with me."
"No. I have other things to do, and besides, Great Uncle could come back at any time. I'll be outside. Call me if you need anything."
"What are you going to do? Tasks like watering the flowers and the vegetables, or cooking, should be left to Sean. You are my wife. You shouldn't do such rough work," he said.
"That's not it. I'm going to learn the way to cure you. Once I learn it, we can go back home."
She had noted down the recipe Hayden wrote just now. She did not know if there were more to the treatment than just acupuncture, medication, and herbal baths.
Thus, she needed to observe for a few more days. If it was confirmed that only these treatments were needed, then they could go back to the city to recuperate.
"Alright. Still, you are not allowed to get too close with Xavier."
Freya looked up at the ceiling, feeling somewhat helpless and exasperated upon hearing that. "Got it. I promise not to get close to him."
Bradley really loved being jealous over nothing.
As she was about to leave, she caught his sad gaze again. Freya could not resist it and swiftly kissed his lips.
She did not dare stay too long, afraid that he would start pestering her again.
However, once they started kissing, Bradley could not stop. He was as unreasonable as a dictator.
Freya hurriedly pushed him away as her face turned completely red.
"I'm leaving. Stay in there."
She left the room as if escaping for her life.
Bradley watched with a slight smile on his lips.
Leaning back against the tub, drowsiness enveloped him.
Freya changed into new clothes and went downstairs, only to find it deserted with no one in sight.
Huh?
Where did everyone go?
She searched high and low, but she could not find a trace of anyone.
She dared not go out as Bradley was still upstairs in the bath, and she had to watch over him.
After all, the calming effect of the medicinal herbs was excellent, and he would soon fall asleep. He should not soak in the tub for too long as that would easily cause the opposite effect.
She was downstairs studying the prescription given by Hayden, which mainly consists of calming and nourishing herbs.
Most of the herbs were commonly found, but there were two rare ones.
Tuber fleece flower and snake jasmine.
She would later ask the pharmacy if they had them. Otherwise, she would have to look for them in the mountains.
Freya was busy downstairs until it was about time to check on Bradley.
He was already asleep, indicating that the herbal bath had taken effect.
She pulled him out of the water, but he showed no reaction at all.
Freya checked his pulse and also found his breathing to be steady. Previously, there would be chaotic energy rushing through his body. Now, it seemed much calmer.
Without waking him up, she moved him to the bed before quietly watching over him.
At that moment, Xavier and Sean's laughter could be heard coming from downstairs.
She tiptoed down the stairs and saw the two of them holding fish and wild chicken in their hands. The sight stunned her.
"Freya, we have extra dishes for the meal tonight."
"Both of you really have a lot of time. You've fully adapted to this place and started leading rustic lifestyles," she retorted.
"I suddenly feel that this kind of life is quite good. I'm away from the hustle and bustle of the city, self-sufficient, carefree. Not only am I in a good mood, but my entire body has relaxed."
Xavier said that with a sigh.
"If you think it's good, then you guys can take care of dinner. I want to eat roast chicken."
Freya swallowed before suddenly remembered something and said, "By the way, Great Uncle just went out and hasn't come back yet. Did you guys run into him?"
"No."
They both shook their heads.
"Ok. Bradley is asleep, so you guys take care of him. I'll look for Great Uncle."
With that, Freya left.
She also liked this kind of life among the mountains and old forests with natural fresh air all around her and, most importantly, tranquility.
Just living here without worries had changed her entire mindset.
She walked for a while before spotting Hayden leaning against a peach tree and drinking alcohol while Yana was jumping around on the tree, shaking the branches from time to time to cause peach blossoms to fall to the ground.
"Sue, you arrived just in time. Keep me company."
