Chapter 307 Bradley's Backstory

Bradley had worked on the bracelet for a long time, and this was his best attempt.

He was worried that Freya would dislike it, but she held onto it as if it were a treasure.

"Honey, I didn't know that your hands are skilled at handicrafts and not just signing contracts and fighting,"

Freya was worried about damaging the bracelet, so she took it off and kept it safe.

"As long as you like it, my hands can do anything."

He held her hand, grasping it in his palm, the tenderness in his eyes seeming to overflow from them.

"Shush, you!"

Freya leaned into his arms. Her heart was filled with happiness.

As if suddenly realizing something, she blinked and said, "By the way, you haven't told me the identities of those people."

"Let me tell you a story."

He gently stroked her hair as something intense raged deep in his black eyes.

"Okay."

"Fifteen years ago, the Solterra royal family conquered the entire country, becoming the master of the nation. To honor the founding hero from the Logan family, they bestowed the title of Duke upon Kevin Logan. However, Kevin was secretly gathering his forces and sought out the most famous poisoner at the time to develop a toxic substance.

"This person was a madman among the poisoners as he always acted in a bizarre manner. With the benefits from Kevin, he developed a poison that, once injected into a human body, would turn a normal person into a beast. In order to take over Solterra, Kevin formed a Beast Army.

"This army was regularly injected with the poison, causing various mutations. They went mad at the sight of blood, killing people in a terrifying manner. After Kevin's betrayal, he led this army into the royal palace and brutally slaughtered tens of thousands of Solterrans. The Jordan family, headed by one of the nation's generals, died with at the hands of the Beast Army along with over 100 of the family."

"How did you escape?" Freya asked.

Freya listened, looking up into his eyes that were filled with a fierce and murderous aura.

Her heart ached for his past, and she held him tight as if to give him strength and comfort.

"If Juliet's father had not risked his life to rescue me, I wouldn't have survived. After leaving the bodies behind, I fled here, changed my name, and planned my revenge. Seven years ago, Kevin found out I was still alive and sent people to assassinate me multiple times. Fortunately, Arthur set my residence on fire then, giving me the opportunity to disguise myself as a blind man and escape."

Bradley silently clenched his fists, grinding his bones together.

"Who is Owen Austin then? Why did he take the risk to shelter you?" Freya asked.

Freya used to think that Bradley might be Owen's illegitimate child, then she found out Bradley was the prince of Solterra. That made her realize that everything was not as simple as she imagined.

Bradley lowered his eyes and stared deep into her eyes. "Owen was also a general of Solterra, but he was injured in battle and returned here for recovery."

Upon hearing that, Freya finally understood what happened.

Why did Owen favor Bradley so much? It was because they were in a superior-subordinate relationship.

"Do you want to continue listening?"

He did not want to tell her about his dark past, but now, with the crimes of the Logan family coming to light, everything could not be hidden anymore.

Freya earnestly nodded. "I want to know everything about you."

Bradley tightly held her hand and continued his unfinished story.

"Do you know who is in charge of the Beast Army?"

"Who is it?"

Bradley narrowed his eyes. "Ian Logan, the younger brother of Kevin."

"What's the connection between the two?"

Freya was a bit confused.

"Ian and Kevin have a bad relationship and are fighting each other in overt and covert ways. Ian even has ambitions to take the throne. Thus, over the years, he has been secretly building his own army. All in order to one day become the ruler of a country.

"The planning of the Beast Army had always been done by Ian. After the two fell out, Ian took in all the poisoners and madmen under his wing. However, 10 years ago, a team of researchers developed an antidote to the poison, which led to the destruction of the entire Beast Army. Ian was not discouraged, and over the years he had been researching other poisons, just to recreate the Beast Army."

"The poison in your body is the newly developed poison then? Was that team led by Hayden?"

Freya finally understood why Hayden said his team had developed an antidote during her earlier conversation with Hayden.

Unfortunately, they sacrificed themselves in the experiment, leaving only Hayden behind.

"Yes, and it's a poison that had not been through clinical trials. I have become a test subject under Ian, and Hayden also has poisons in his body from self-experimentation. The deaths of the team and his wife are the cause of his current confusion."

This was something Patrick told him a few hours ago.

He did not expect Hayden to be the one who destroyed the Beast Army back then.

"As for the people who intruded here, if I'm not mistaken, they must be Ian's men. They probably also know Hayden's identity, so they want to stop him from treating me."

"What is their purpose in doing this?"

Bradley looked at her and said, "They want to control me, make me deal with Kevin while they sit back and reap the benefits. After all, as you know, I have a powerful organization behind me, with top-notch strength and resources capable of competing with Kevin."

"Sigelac?"

Freya had blurted out.

"Yes. As long as they control me, they can control Sigelac. By doing so, they can get rid of me and take over Solterra. It would be killing two birds with one stone."

Freya felt nervous at his words with sweat covering her palms.

This scheme was terrifying. Once it was realized, it would inevitably lead to a great disaster.

Bradley sensed her anxiety and tightly held her. "Since you know everything now, you should know how dangerous my identity is. Freya, I'll give you one last chance to reconsider. Are you sure you want to stay by my side?"

"No need to reconsider. I made up my mind long ago. I've chosen to be with you for the rest of my life."

She did not hesitate at all.

"Still, there will be many dangers ahead. Aren't you afraid?" he asked.

"I'm not afraid. I know you will protect me. Even if you have no time to care for me, I can protect myself," she replied.

"Alright. I've given you a chance. Since you choose to give that up, you now belong to me and will never escape from my grasp."

"Through thick and thin, in life and in death, I will be with you."

Upon hearing that, Bradley kissed her again with even more passion than before.

This kiss lasted much longer.

They only let go when they were out of breath.

"By the way, I think if we can find the woman who was bitten by the snake, we can get a lot of information out of her."

Freya softly said as she lightly panted.
