Chapter 312 Exposed

That day, Hayden, along with Xavier and Sean, spent days and nights in the small room, researching the antidote.

To prevent any mishaps, Bradley had people secretly guarding the surroundings.

Freya was worried that Bradley would be ambushed, so after giving him acupuncture, she did not dare to leave for a moment.

After a week passed without incident, the expected happened.

Hayden suddenly collapsed, alarming everyone.

Despite the efforts of Xavier and Sean to rescue him, the effect was minimal.

In the end, everyone unanimously decided that Sean and Xavier would escort him back to the capital for treatment.

Before leaving, Xavier took away all the research materials.

The previously lively wooden house was suddenly left with only Freya, Bradley, Shirley, and Jinny.

"I hope Mr. Barnes will be fine."

Jinny, who was usually reserved, suddenly expressed her concern.

Shirley, on the other hand, remained calm, her gaze following the private plane as it departed.

Freya stood by the window observing the two, feeling increasingly uneasy.

She used to suspect Jinny, but now, seeing Shirley, she felt even more suspicious.

Who among the two was the real undercover agent?

Bradley stood behind her and spoke solemnly, "Some problems are better understood with the heart than with the eyes. Everything is almost coming to an end."

"What?"

Freya didn't understand his meaning.

"It's okay. Isn't it about time for your acupuncture session?"

He wrapped his arms around her gently but glanced downstairs with a hint of coldness.

"Alright, it's almost time. Lie down, and I'll do your acupuncture."

After saying that, she went to fetch the needle kit.

While inserting the needle, Bradley mentioned, "Gabriel discovered some animal carcasses in the woods. Could you check if they were also injected with the poison?"

"But I can't leave."

With Xavier and Sean gone, Bradley would fall asleep after acupuncture. If she left, wouldn't it leave him vulnerable to an attack?

"Freya, you have to trust me. Nothing will happen."

"No, I still can't rest assured."

She couldn't bear the thought of him taking risks, especially considering the enemy's proficiency with poison.

"If you don't leave, how can I be ambushed? Freya, to catch that person, we have to take a risk." Bradley leaned in close to her ear, speaking softly.

Upon hearing this, Freya finally understood.

So, his reference to "trying to outsmart them" had this implication.

He deliberately wanted to divert her attention to give the enemy an opportunity to strike?

Grasping his intention, she promptly administered the acupuncture.

Half an hour later, she removed all the needles, tucked him in with a blanket, and went downstairs.

"Shirley, Jinny, I need to step out for a bit. Can you keep an eye on Bradley for me? I won't be long."

"Freya, it's not safe for you to go alone. Let me come with you."

Shirley offered.

"Alright, I'll go gather some herbs. Jinny, please take care of things here."

The two of them departed swiftly.

Along the way, Shirley talked incessantly.

"Freya, I want to learn about medicine too. Can you teach me how to identify herbs? That way, if I encounter someone with a headache or fever while I'm out, I can help them."

"Sure, I'll teach you when I gather herbs later."

Freya walked briskly.

Because there was a little tail behind her, she didn't intend to meet Gabriel, but went straight into the woods to collect herbs.

Shirley found everything fascinating and had questions about everything.

Freya was patient and explained carefully to her.

The two of them walked into the depths of the woods, and Freya saw a snake jasmine ahead, ready to pick it.

Just then, Shirley suddenly took out a syringe and approached her step by step.

As the needle was about to pierce her neck, Freya narrowed her eyes, then abruptly turned around, grabbing her hand.

"So it's you!"

With a cold look, she gazed at the person in front of her.

"You've been suspicious of me all along?"

With such a good disguise, Shirley hadn't expected that she would still got caught.

"Sometimes, the less scheming one appears, the more complex they are! You pretended to be straightforward and open, deliberately trying to gain my trust, but you overdid it, and it exposed your true intentions."

"You're indeed smarter than I imagined, worthy of being the puppet I selected."

Shirley stopped pretending and tore off her disguise, revealing a familiar face.

"Although you found out about me, I still have to thank you for neutralizing the snake venom for me. Let's reintroduce ourselves, I'm Yvette Jenner."

Facing Freya, Yvette showed no fear but extended her hand to her.

"You're sent by Ian Logan?"

"Bingo, I really like you, you're so clever."

"What's your purpose?"

"I can't tell you that, but if you're willing to leave with me, I'll tell you."

Yvette said, effortlessly breaking free from her restraint and flipping her hair. "Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you, your husband Bradley has probably been injected with poison by my people. If you want to save him in the future, it won't be easy."

"Is Jinny also in cahoots with you?"

"No, sweetheart, you're mistaken this time. She's not associated with me."

"Then where's the real Shirley Lynch?"

"She's in the hands of my people, still alive."

Upon hearing this, Freya grew more convinced that this individual had other schemes at play.

She wasn't concerned about Bradley's situation; he must have prepared thoroughly for his actions.

Now, her focus was on bringing down Yvette and extracting all the secrets from her.

With narrowed eyes, she moved towards her.

Yvette had always underestimated Freya's strength, thinking her to be a feeble woman. However, she was surprised by Freya's skill.

"Interesting. Apparently, you're not a helpless rabbit but a fierce wildcat."

She evaded the attack and seized Freya's wrist.

Freya pushed her body forward forcefully.

In the next moment, Freya was wrapped around Yvette's waist, her hand reaching for the gun at her side, aiming at Yvette's forehead.

The empty barrel emanated a chilling aura.

Freya grabbed her neck and demanded coldly, "Tell me, what's your real purpose for being here?"

Yvette hadn't anticipated Freya to be armed.

She abandoned her casual demeanor and looked at her with a serious gaze.

With determination on her face, Freya warned, "If you don't speak, I'll end you right now and throw your body to the wolves in this forest."

Yvette tilted her head slightly, unfazed by the gun pointed at her.

"In such a strategically advantageous location, what do you think we're capable of?"

Freya was momentarily taken aback.

Suddenly, Yvette deftly knocked away the gun with her hand and effortlessly threw Freya aside.

Using one hand to support herself, Freya regained her balance.

She smirked coldly and asked, "Are you planning to establish your dominance here and control the wild animals in the forest?"
