Chapter 315 Victims of the Experiment!

Following Shirley's fatal injection of poison, the group opted to cremate her remains, with Jinny accompanying her home.

After the cremation, Bradley arranged for a private plane to escort Jinny home personally.

Freya watched the aircraft disappear into the clouds, a sudden weight settling in her chest.

Although Bradley had asked Sean to clean up the mess in the woods, numerous animals still succumbed to the venom.

Yvette's poison proved imperfect, unable to benefit people or animal.

The venom is particularly deadly when it comes to animals.

Except for the monkey Yana, none survived more than two days.

In terms of human subjects, Shirley and Mark became the victims of the experiment.

"Bradley, I still don't understand. How did you learn so much about Yvette's background?"

Freya was very surprised by Yvette's connection to Hayden and her involvement in her aunt's demise.

"Well, take a look at this."

Bradley gave her a notebook. "This was found when I went to the house to look for clues on the day Hayden had an accident."

Freya browsed through it.

The notebook had been around for quite a few years, covered in a layer of dust, and the pages had turned yellow.

Freya quickly read through it.

After reading it, she felt her heart sink.

"Great Uncle always thought that his team died with only him left, but he didn't expect that Yvette faked her death and eventually joined Ian Logan, betraying his research and engaging in all sorts of outrageous activities."

"Bradley, I've never been so grateful for you being alive."

Freya approached him and then hugged him.

Every person injected with poison was Yvette's experimental subject.

But among them, only Bradley survived.

This was the greatest luck given to her by fate.

"Now that Yvette has been captured, the plan in Solterra will have to be executed earlier. Freya, you need to be prepared in advance. We may have to return to Solterra any time, and the dangers we will face then will be even greater than now."

"I've been ready every minute and every second. Whenever you decide, I'm ready to go with you."

As soon as she finished speaking, Bradley's phone rang.

It was a call from Xavier.

"What is it?"

"Bradley, Hayden may not make it. He wants to see you both."

Bradley's hand trembled slightly as he held the phone, and his face turned pale.

"Freya, I'm afraid we have to fly back to the capital now. Great Uncle... "

He didn't finish his sentence, but Freya understood.

That day, the two of them packed up and left the cabin, returning to the capital before nightfall.

They didn't return to the Royal Garden Mansion, but went straight to the hospital.

Even before stepping into the ward, they heard cries coming from inside.

The already heavy mood became even heavier.

When Freya entered the ward, she saw Sean kneeling in front of Hayden, crying bitterly.

"Freya, Bradley, you're... too late. Master... has passed away."

Xavier's eyes were red, and his voice was hoarse.

They had been working tirelessly to save Hayden, but his heart failure had progressed too quickly to control.

He was still conscious just a while ago, insisting on seeing Freya and Bradley. However, less than half an hour later, his heart stopped beating.

"Did he… say anything before he died?"

Freya clenched her fists, tears flowing uncontrollably.

"Before he died, he kept mentioning you, and he entrusted a document to me, asking me to give it to you." Xavier handed a dossier to Freya.

Upon opening it, her emotions collapsed completely, and she found herself leaning against Bradley, crying uncontrollably.

Inside were the property deed of the old house, a bankbook, and some photos of the siblings together.

Each photo depicted Hayden's love for Freya's grandmother.

Even in death, he spoke of Freya's grandmother's happiness and meticulously prepared her dowry.

The bankbook held 700 thousand dollars, and the property deed was in her grandmother's name.

As Freya flipped through the photos, she discovered a letter.

With trembling hands, she read through it quickly.

It contained instructions for her grandmother and requests for Bradley, referred to as the "son-in-law."

The final sentence was a threat, insisting that Bradley must take care of her well, or else he would not be forgiven even in death.

Each word expressed concern, representing the responsibility of an elder brother.

Freya's tears flowed uncontrollably, and no matter what, she couldn't stop. Bradley patted her back, comforting her softly,

"Stop crying. If Great Uncle sees this, he'll think I'm bullying you again."

However, the more he comforted her, the more sorrowful Freya became.

"Bradley, I want to bury Great Uncle next to my grandmother."

She choked up as she spoke, tears streaming down her face, her eyelashes damp and slightly swollen.

"As you wish."

He naturally agreed to her every word. As long as she was happy, he was willing to do anything.

Hayden's funeral took place three days later.

There were only a few people, as he didn't have many friends in this relatively unfamiliar city.

The funeral was simple; each person sprinkled some dirt on the coffin before letting him rest in peace.

Bradley stood before the tombstone, bowing deeply to the old man in the black and white photo.

"Rest assured, I will take good care of Freya and ensure she doesn't suffer even a bit!"

Beside him, Freya knelt, burning all the photos, murmuring softly, "Great Uncle, although you mistook me for Grandma, I still want to thank you for taking care of me during this time. Rest assured and reunite with Grandma in the afterlife!"

As the last photo turned to ashes, she rose slowly.

"Bradley, I want to return to the old house and place Great Uncle's and my grandmother's photographs together."

"Okay."

After the funeral, the group headed to Alvonia.

It was Grandma's hometown, and Freya had visited a few times when she was young.

Despite the earth-shaking changes over the years, Freya managed to find a special house among the skyscrapers.

Sean explained that the surrounding old houses had been demolished, but Grandpa refused to tear down his. Instead, he spent a large sum to preserve it.

In the courtyard stood a grapevine, its lush vines covering the frame and heavy grapes dangling beneath the dense leaves.

Beside it, a set of stone tables and chairs were engraved with the words "Family Harmony Brings Prosperity."

Seated there, Freya carefully observed her surroundings, a sense of familiarity lingering in her eyes.

When she accompanied her mother here in the past, Great Uncle was always busy with research and often abroad, so she never met him.

Additionally, Great Uncle's work was confidential, so Grandma didn't know much about his situation, only occasionally mentioning it.
