Chapter 316 My Husband's Appearance Changed

Freya didn't have many vivid memories of this house.

Over the years of disuse, dust had settled in the rooms.

She reverently placed her grandmother's and Hayden's photographs alongside those of their family, including her aunt's.

She bowed devoutly, hoping that their family could be happy and together forever.

It was Sean's first visit to this place, and he suggested staying overnight.

Freya shared the same idea, so they all pitched in to clean up.

They were so engrossed in their tasks that it was already ten at night when they ordered takeout and gathered in the courtyard to eat and chat.

"Can you verify what substance Grandpa was injected with?"

Xavier shook his head. "It seems to be a new drug developed by Yvette herself. Unlike typical drugs causing heart failure, its specific ingredients need further testing."

"That woman is too poisonous for actually targeting Grandpa. I really didn't expect that she was Grandpa's apprentice."

Sean's eyes were still teary. Hayden's passing hit him the hardest.

After all, all his medical skills were imparted by Hayden himself. To him, Hayden was not only his grandfather but also his mentor.

"Now that Great Uncle is gone, I just want to know, how far along are you with the antidote research?"

Yvette disclosed that as the instances of infection increased, the poison became increasingly uncontrollable. It could morph into a ferocious beast, similar to what happened to Mark and Shirley.

Although Bradley was considered a successful experimental subject, it didn't mean there wouldn't be any later complications.

"Don't worry, the antidote is nearing completion. If all goes well, we'll start clinical trials in a few days."

When Xavier left, he took away all of Hayden's research.

He was confident that the antidote could be developed in a few days.

"That's fantastic news; Bradley will be saved."

This was the most uplifting news they had heard lately.

"Next, Sean and I will continue developing the antidote, but... we need a test subject."

Xavier proposed.

"Let's begin with Mitch Shay; he's been injected with a substantial amount of poison over the years."

Mitch Shay, Yvette's husband, was captured after attempting to ambush Bradley.

For the sake of research, Yvette took Mitch as an experimental subject, and injected a lot of poison into his body over the years.

Mitch is the most suitable experimental subject so far.

"Agreed. We'll start with Mitch, and once the antidote is perfected, we'll administer it to Bradley."

With the decision made, they set out early the next morning to begin their task.

After Yvette's arrest, she attempted suicide multiple times.

However, Bradley had her closely monitored and removed any lethal items from her vicinity.

Unable to end her life, she resorted to a hunger strike.

Bradley asked the doctor to inject her with nutrients and insert liquid food into her esophagus.

Despite her efforts, she failed repeatedly, eventually sitting on the ground like a broken doll, muttering curses.

"Bradley, you'll regret this."

She clenched her teeth.

She never anticipated ending up like this.

Now she was like a caged animal, under constant surveillance. No matter how subtle her movements, they were immediately detected.

She had heard about Bradley's clandestine network of skilled individuals.

Each of these people is extremely skilled, and one person can resist hundreds of people.

Bradley aimed to use this force to reclaim the Solterra. Initially, she had planned to control Bradley to control this force.

However, she couldn't anticipate that her scheme would merely ignite briefly, failing to even gain anything significant.

At this moment, Shadow burst in.

With his perennially icy demeanor, he didn't even glance at Yvette, directly taking Mitch from the next room.

"What's going on? You can't touch him!"

Yvette screamed frantically, but Shadow ignored her, locking the man in a separate cell and shackling him with iron chains.

Whether the antidote succeeded or not, they just needed to inject it when Mitch fell ill to find out.

Everything appeared to be falling back into place.

Bradley resumed his duties at the Austin Group, yet behind the scenes, he was strategizing to reclaim Solterra.

Meanwhile, Freya had been preoccupied with gathering medicinal herbs at the clinic.

Despite the abundance of rare herbs in the Elderwood Mountain forest, snake jasmine was notably scarce in the capital. Despite several attempts, she had been unable to locate it on the mountain.

Ella spent a day tirelessly searching outside.

She even flew back to the Elderwood Mountain forest to retrieve it.

The moment she acquired the herbs, Freya was eager to return home.

As she stepped out of the clinic, she collided with a firm and warm chest.

The familiar scent of mint filled her nostrils as she glanced up to meet a pair of tender and affectionate eyes.

However, she was taken aback by the man's attire.

Was this her husband?

Was she certain she hadn't mistaken him for someone else?

The man before her was not dressed in the typical suit and tie; instead, he sported a casual ensemble in deep gray tones, with white sneakers adorning his feet.

His hair was casually tousled, lacking the usual meticulous grooming.

Bathed in sunlight, he exuded an aura of elegance and immaculate cleanliness that captivated Freya.

She had never seen Bradley dressed up like this, sunny and handsome, with an air of elegance and extraordinary cleanliness all over his body.

Although nearing thirty, he resembled a recent college graduate.

He appeared content with Freya's response, a faint smile gracing his thin lips.

Removing his sunglasses with slender fingers, he slid his hands into his pockets, a hint of mischief playing on his face.

"What's the matter? Am I enchanting you, Honey?"

"No, you look fine. Why the change in attire?"

"Do you like it? I can alter it for you." Bradley peered down at the woman in his embrace, seeking her approval.

However, she simply stared at him for a while, furrowing her brows.

"I used to appreciate your mature, steady, and meticulous demeanor, which instilled a sense of security. This appearance suits you, but you shouldn't dress in a manner that displeases you just to please me. Wouldn't you feel resentful?"

"Not at all, as long as you're happy."

He reached out to gently tap her nose.

"From now on, I'll dress like this when we're together. Otherwise, if I dress too formally, others might mistake me for your elder."

Freya chuckled, "Are there elders who are as young and handsome as you?"

"Do you prefer me like this?"

"Yes."

"As long as you're pleased, I'll adopt your preferred style."

With that, he possessively wrapped his arm around her waist. "Let's head home."
