"Honey, is there anything you can't do?"
Freya gazed at him like he was some kind of superstar.
"I've been playing the piano since I was a kid, started jamming on the guitar in college, and violin's like second nature to me…"
He said, not trying to brag. Music just kind of flew through him. He had won a bunch of trophies and awards for it.
However, all those trophies and awards got wiped out when Solterra went down.
"Who else gets to hear you play besides me?" Freya asked curiously.
She knew Bradley had skills, but she never figured he'd be playing the guitar too.
They said men who played guitar were always charming, so she was wondering if Bradley had also played it to impress other women.
"No one."
Bradley set the guitar aside, bent down, and gently lifted her chin. "I never played for anyone else except you."
"No way, liar! You guys love playing guitar and showing off, surrounded by lots of girls."
Freya pouted, with a clear look of dissatisfaction on her face.
Bradley smiled, "Ah, come on, those people were just the audience. Tonight's performance is all about you."
Bradley's smooth talk, mixed with his deep voice, lit up her heart.
She looked up, locking eyes with him.
His dark eyes tinged with darkness, but still clearly reflecting her shadow.
So tender, so indulgent.
Freya felt like she was soaking in a jar of honey, almost too sweet to handle.
"Honey, you're like a whole new person, I don't even know you anymore."
She said this with a dopey smile, reaching up to his neck, her eyes full of love.
"I promised, I'm gonna keep you smiling every single day. You just gotta sit back and let me spoil you rotten, that's all you gotta do."
Freya nodded, playing along, giving him a quick peck on the lips.
He held onto that kiss for a while, almost like he didn't want to let go.
The clock on the wall pointed to ten o'clock.
Bradley took out the birthday cake and place it down on the table.
They stuck the candles in, made wishes, blew them out and then slice the cake together.
"So spill it, what did you wish for just now?"
Freya was super curious. What else could Mr. Austin, the guy who's got everything, want?
"You."
He whispered into her ear.
Freya was already on edge tonight. His teasing had her blushing like crazy.
"What are you doing?"
She hid her face, feeling embarrassed.
"I wished for you to give me a baby this year, so we can go back to Solterra, and live happily there as a family…"
Freya poked his chest when she heard this.
"How about we wait until we've taken back Solterra before having a baby? I still want to be out there fighting with you. It wouldn't be convenient to be pregnant then."
She didn't want to stress Bradley out with a kid, nor did she want to be a burden.
So, baby plans were on hold for now.
"But even if we don't have a kid, you better have a birthday surprise for me tonight."
He grinned and scooped up some cream with his fingers, smearing it right on Freya's nose.
"Whoa, Honey, you're so naughty!"
Freya didn't hold back, returning the favor and smearing cream all over his face.
Bradley who was looking all fresh and shiny, now had cream stuck in his hair, making him look like an old man with white hair."
The room filled with the sweet smell of cream.
Freya took a bite of cake, grabbed his collar, and planted a kiss on his lips.
What started as a simple game turned into a full-on make-out session.
Bradley cupped her face, giving her a deep, passionate kiss.
Cream and rose scents lingered in the air, making the moment last.
Finally they were done kissing.
Bradley pressed his lips and carried her, heading upstairs to the bedroom.
The original surprise had already shocked her enough!
Yet, as she stepped into the bedroom, Freya forgot how to breathe.
The room, usually decked out in dark gray, matching his vibe.
However, the room was overflowed with plush toys now.
They were everywhere — on the bed, table, sofa, even the floor.
Teddy bears, silly pigs, you name it.
They looked ordinary, but each one was top-notch, custom-made by hand.
Freya was dazzled.
Coming out of one dream and straight into another, she was lost in plush paradise.
Then, a deep voice came from above, "Honey, do you like how the bedroom is decorated? Pretty romantic, huh?"
Freya was speechless.
Romantic?
Why did it sound weird coming from Bradley?
What had gotten into him?
First, the change in wardrobe, then the flowers, cooking, and now this guitar serenade and all sorts of ways to charm her.
He even got all these teddy bears and said the word "romantic."
This made her feel like something was off.
Could it be that all those poison in his body were causing these weird symptoms?
Freya figured she should call up Xavier and discuss it.
Doing this once in a while was fine, but if you do it every day, it was not gonna work.
She couldn't hold back anymore!
"Honey, is there anywhere you're not comfortable?"
She asked cautiously.
"Yeah."
"Where?"
"Right here."
He took her hand and gently placed it on a spot.
The next moment, Freya's face went beet red.
She was so embarrassed and awkwardly jumped out of his arms.
"You're all covered in cream, no wonder you're feeling uncomfortable. Go hit the shower first."
"Alright, just wait for me then."
He smelled himself and yeah, that sickly sweet smell was getting to him.
He quickly closed the bathroom door. Freya grabbed a doll to play with and realized it was a couple set.
The male doll was all suited up, while the lady doll wore a red fishtail gown.
She hugged the male doll and poked its face.
Taking a closer look, the doll had a bit of a resemblance to Bradley.
Just as she got into playing, Bradley's phone rang.
Freya picked it up and saw it was from Patrick.
Just as she was about to answer, the other person abruptly hung up for no reason.
She squinted suspiciously, put the phone down, and went back to playing with the dolls.
"Ding ding ding!"
Suddenly, a bunch of messages popped up on the phone.
She glanced down and saw all the messages appearing on the screen.
Though she wasn't sure what they were, she could see they were a couple of videos.
Feeling compelled, Freya picked up the phone again, punched in the password.
She was just taking a chance, but it turned out the password was her birthdate.
Suddenly, a weird mix of emotions flooded her chest.
When she glanced back at the bathroom, she noticed some blurry shapes inside and the sound of running water meant he wasn't done showering yet.
