Chapter 325 The Narrow Road of Enemies

Freya watched her, with all those tears and smiles, feeling nothing but heavy inside. She knew a few slaps wouldn't bring back the lives she had taken.

Speaking coldly, she let out every word like it was a chore.

"Yvette, forget about your scheme. Mitch, your husband is all good now. He's free from your grip, done with your games."

"About that poison you worked so hard to develop, Xavier had taken care of it in just a month. And we're destroying your lab, so you can't make any more poison to harm people!"

"No, this can't be real ... it just can't …"

Yvette barely finished before she started coughing like crazy, spitting out blood.

"As for you, even if you're barely hanging on, you better stay alive. If you try to end it, I'll have your body whipped, then toss you into the forest to get chewed up by beasts."

After finishing the talk, Freya left the cell, only to bump into a sturdy chest.

She looked up and saw Bradley's warm eyes, smiling back at her.

"Is everything sorted?"

"Yes, all done."

"Great, let's go home. You need your acupuncture, and I'm tired, ready to hit the sack."

"Sounds good."

With that, he lifted her up and carried her like a sack of potatoes.

Back at the Royal Garden Mansion.

Freya helped Bradley with his acupuncture before crashing beside him.

She stayed up way too late last night and got up way too early this morning. She's seriously wiped out!

She fell asleep until evening.

When Freya finally woke up, Bradley was nowhere to be seen.

Faintly, she heard a phone ringing from the balcony.

Peering out, she spotted Bradley puffing away on a cigarette, chatting on the phone.

Whatever the call was about, it didn't seem to sit well with him.

It seemed that the acupuncture sessions and soaking baths lately had really helped keep Bradley's condition under control.

Even though there have been some emotional ups and downs lately, it hadn't gotten to the point of losing control.

She rolled out of bed and headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner herself.

Frederick and Rosa went back to their hometown and wouldn't be back for a week.

She cooked up a pot of plain porridge and prepared two small side dishes.

While she was rinsing vegetables, she felt someone sneak up and grab her from behind.

"Stop it, I'm busy."

"I'll help you." The guy leaned in, his delicate hands diving into the sink, scrubbing vegetables alongside her.

Freya couldn't help but think back to him playing that guitar yesterday. Those hands were made for tunes, not cooking, right?

She coaxed gently, "No, just go relax on the couch. I'll prepare a couple dishes real quick and if you're feeling bored, sit and play your guitar for me."

Finally getting the hint, he left the kitchen.

He came back with the guitar, snagged a chair, and serenaded her from across the room.

Even in the midst of her hustle, Freya couldn't help but appreciate the sweet tunes, humming along as she worked.

They vibed through music, setting a cozy mood.

Freya wrapped up cooking and brought the dishes to the table.

Bradley hustled to wash up, served her a bowl of porridge, and even cooled it down before offering it up.

"No need, I'm not a kid."

"You're my wife, I wanna spoil you." He grinned and plopped the porridge in front of her.

Freya's heart swelled with joy. She leaned in and gave him a little kiss on the cheek, considering it her way of rewarding him.

"Okay, let's eat."

...

After dinner, Bradley had something to do and he wanted to take Freya with him.

However, she had plans with Ella and Madeline today, so she passed.

She was straight-up about it, telling him she was meeting up with Madeline.

Bradley wasn't very pleased but didn't push it.

The two parted ways at the front door.

When Freya got to Madeline's place, she found the apartment dark and there was nobody home at all.

She tried calling Madeline, but the phone just rang and rang.

Worried that something might have happened, she called Ella again.

Luckily, Ella picked up right away.

"Freya, are you looking for Madeline?" Ella said.

"Yes, she's not home. Are you with her?" Freya asked.

"Actually, we're at the hospital," Ella replied.

Freya blurted out, "Why are you at the hospital? Is one of you not feeling well?"

"It's not us, it's Madeline. She accidentally bumped into someone, so we rushed her here."

Freya let out a sigh of relief, finally getting the lowdown.

She told Ella to send her the address and immediately drove to the hospital.

At the front desk, she got directions to the emergency room and bolted there.

Sure enough, there were Madeline and Ella, chilling in the hallway.

"Are you both alright?"

Freya asked, all worried.

"We're alright, but the other one got hurt pretty bad. She's still being treated."

Just then, the ER lights flickered off and a doctor stepped out.

Madeline rushed over, "Doctor, how's she doing?"

"She's stable now, but sadly, we lost the baby," the doctor said.

"Wait, she was pregnant?"

Madeline hadn't seen that coming.

At that moment, the lady wandered into the street looking all confused and Madeline was driving too fast.

Even though Madeline hit on the brakes, she still grazed her.

"Yeah, she's been pregnant for two weeks already!"

"Okay, thanks, doc."

Madeline was feeling down. She hit someone and ended up causing the loss of her child.

It was just heartbreaking!

A nurse escorted the woman away and finally Freya got a good look at her face.

Sharon?

Indeed... enemies meet again on this narrow road.

"Freya, do you know her?" Madeline asked.

"Well, she claims to be Lance's fiancée, Sharon, the daughter of the Turner family. But wasn't the Turner family already kicked out of the capital? How come she's still here!"

"So this is Sharon? The shameless chick Bradley dumped at the crossroads?"

Madeline was shocked.

She heard from Patrick earlier that Bradley really messed up a woman and kicked her whole family out of the city.

Who would've thought she would run into Sharon of all people!

"Feels like deja vu. This ain't gonna end pretty."

Ella said, her brow furrowed.

"Let's figure out what to do when she wakes up. Women like her are just after money, nothing else."

An hour later.

Sharon woke up.

When she realized she had lost her child, she went completely out of control.

"My child! Give my child back!"

"I'm sorry, he's gone. But tell me what you need, I'll do what I can."

Madeline, as the one behind the wheel, was in the hot seat for this mess.

Even though it was Sharon, Madeline had to push personal grudges aside and deal with the situation.

"What can you offer? Bring my baby back? Can you?"

Sharon shot daggers at her, lunging to claw her with her nails.

"Enough!"

Just then, Freya came in and grabbed her wrist right away.
