Chapter 329 Can't Find Another Poppy

These two were obviously rich. If we didn't hustle them for some money, we were gonna lose out big time.

So, he started making a big fuss, shouting, "I'm injured, hurting all over. You must take me to the hospital for a check-up and I've got deliveries to make for my business, you've wasted so much of my time, how are you gonna make up for these losses?"

He was just a regular rideshare driver, barely making any money all day long.

With this big opportunity right in front of him, better to grab it first and figure out the details later.

"Fine, hospital it is. Doctor will check you out, and we'll compensate based on what they say. As for your lost business, we'll sort that too."

Lance's voice was ice-cold, eyes drilling into the other guy.

He had been through situations like this countless times and he knew their intention inside out.

"I exclusively serve upscale clients. If I miss out a big client, each ride could fetch tens of thousands. And if I do a few runs in a day, it could easily tally up to several hundred thousand."

"Is that so? Show me your rideshare trip record then. If it's as you say, we'll pay up as promised."

Other guy squirmed when he heard that.

"It's my privacy, man. I can't just hand that over. Besides, as a good rideshare driver, we got to keep our customers' trips private."

"If you're not willing to cooperate, we'll have to leave it to the cops," Lance stated, turning to his assistant. "Call the police."

"Got it, Mr. Fenton."

"Fenton? Mr. Fenton?"

Hearing that title, the other guy went as white as a sheet.

There weren't many people with the surname Fenton in the capital, and lately, everyone had been talking about the famous Cloudstone Group . It seemed like the CEO of Cloudstone was named Fenton... something.

Wait, he seemed to hear this woman called the other person Lance, just now?

The driver whipped out his phone, Googled Lance, and when he saw the man's background, he went from tomato red to ghostly pale.

His hands were shaky, nearly dropped his phone.

In an instant, "Alright, I just thought about it again, let's stick to the standard insurance process."

"Good. I'll have my insurance team hit you up as soon as possible."

Freya called Ella, telling her no need to rush over and let the insurance handle things.

After the chat, she turned to the driver. "Anything else?"

"No, that's all."

He wouldn't have the guts to ask for anything. This person right in front of him is the CEO of Lawson Group, and not someone to mess with.

"Okay, if there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."

"Sure, take care!"

The other guy stepped aside to let her slide in.

Freya settled back in the car and just as she was about to start the engine, the passenger door popped open, and Lance slid in.

"I did you a big favor, how about treating me to a meal?"

"Sorry, I've got something urgent today, let's have that meal another time, Mr. Fenton."

Lance didn't really intend to have this meal, he just hadn't seen Freya since the Cloudstone celebration ended.

Since they were bumped into each other today, he just wanted to have a chat with her.

"I happen to have some business near Royal Garden Mansion. Mind giving me a lift?"

After thinking it over, Freya agreed.

She hit the gas and they zoomed off.

Freya kept her eyes on the road while Lance kept his on her.

"I haven't heard back from you regarding the favor I asked you about the medical checkup."

"Ah, right, I must have forgotten."

"Well, it's never too late."

Lance leaned back, a smirk appeared on his lips.

Freya glanced at him. "Sorry, I can't help you there. But I know a top-notch doctor who might be able to assist you."

Lance's face fell a bit upon hearing this.

He asked, "Are you refusing to help me with the treatment because of Mr. Austin?"

"Yes," Freya admitted.

Since Bradley didn't like her hanging out with Lance, she kept her distance as much as she could.

Besides, the plan in Solterra was approaching. She could depart with Bradley at any moment and preferred not to get involved right now.

Lance let out a bitter laugh. "Bradley's very lucky to have you as his wife."

"Trust is the foundation of marriage. I believe that once you get married, you'll understand how I feel, Mr. Fenton"

Freya said sincerely.

Lance struggled to put his feelings into words.

Disappointment, sadness, feeling kind of left out.

It was clear he had feelings for her, but this silent war has ended before it even began.

The vibe got real awkward.

They sat there, no words between them for what felt like ages.

"I heard about the Turner family's mess."

He brought it up with a flat tone, as if discussing someone unimportant.

"Sharon, she used to be your fiancée. If I give her a hard time, you won't hold it against me, right?" Freya said, kind of joking.

Lance chuckled, "Fiancée? No, I never claimed that."

"True, Sharon's not exactly a saint. Dumping her was definitely the right thing to do."

It was not like they have a grudge against each other, that Freya was speaking ill of her like this.

Sharon was just too much to handle.

Lance was like her business partner, so of course, she wanted him to find someone decent.

Sharon was way out of line.

They chatted casually along the way, then Freya parked at Royal Garden Mansion entrance and glanced at the guy next to her.

"We arrived at my place now. Where are you heading? You'll have to walk a bit from here."

"No worries, I got it."

Lance hopped out and Freya headed for the underground parking.

Just then, his assistant drove the car over.

The assistant stayed right behind the whole way.

Lance hopped back in but didn't leave.

He rolled down the car window and gazed intensely at something not far away.

Freya parked the car and dashed back into the courtyard.

Hurrying along with her petite frame, her long hair fluttered in the breeze, her snow-white skin contrasting against the emerald green dress she wore.

Hard to believe that such an outstanding girl was Bradley's woman.

Lance squeezed his fists, eyes full of regret.

"Mr. Fenton, where are we headed now?" the assistant asked carefully.

"Back to the office!" he said coldly.

He pulled out his laptop from the bag, trying to reach Poppy again.

But his messages vanished into thin air, like whispers in the wind.

He even tried texting her, but she'd clearly blocked him, leaving him hanging.

He felt irritated for no reason.

Ever since Poppy ditched Cloudstone, he began searching for alternative business partners.

However, despite the time that passed, he couldn't find another Poppy.

Poppy was in a league of her own.

She was a world-famous hacker and it was only due to his luck and Poppy's need for money back then that he had the opportunity to collaborate with her.

But now, just because she felt like taking a break, she declared her withdrawal from the shares.

He couldn't accept that!

"Keep searching for Poppy, no matter what. I need to find her," he ordered.
